Who from your area (big time, small time, underground, whatever) do you like listening to?

My fav from San Antonio would probably be R-Kive. Pretty much unknown but he is my boy. I can't really find too much of HIS music just freestyles n stuff he does on other beats.

not to bad... he needs to get some original beats... you can find some for cheap or you can take beats and mess them up and make em your way.... but make sure you mess it up enough to where it still sounds good but nothing like the copied beat... timbabland is a master of that... but he's also great at other things...

Yeah -- because I don't like Obama's policies, or the hip-hop culture and it's negative effects on society -- white and black. And even worse - I say rap is crap.... God forbid!

That defines a person as racist I suppose.

How dare a white person perceive problems in black society -- automatically it is racism.... But Bill Cosby can because he is famous and he is black....

Ridiculous.

I have not ONCE ever suggested that ANYONE be treated any different for the color of their skin. Ever.

So you should retract your statement.

I admitted that my initial approach to my concerns wreaked of elitism, and confronted myself.

The fact that there are members of my extended family of various racial backgrounds whom I love and cherish further proves your accusation wrong.

I don't like hip-hop culture regardless of the color of it's purveyor.

And I would vote for a Black Conservative before I would ever vote for a White Liberal. Racists would not consider that either.....

I don't think the Hip-hop culture is hurting america. If it is, what about country music, "emo" pop, etc. EVERY kind of music "hurts" america huh?

you come into the yard and into a thread where you know you didnt like the topic of the thread... and for some reason you needed to tell people rap isn't any good... your little innocent girl attitude is tiresome...

I see through you... your judging a culture based on something you saw in one little corner of the entire world...

next... you probably just don't have the strength to overcome your fear of the black culture probabaly because they scare you... probably because they don't care if your president bush or Oprah Winfrey they will speak whats on their mind... and you are in fear...

would you tell someone personally face to face that you hate their culture probably not... you know why... u skkkkkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrddddddddd

I have no problem sharing my observational concerns of cultures with people who will listen to such concerns. I have voiced and written of these concerns with others.

I do, in turn welcome criticism of my culture as well.

And by the way -- culture is not defined by race -- although externally, many associate it so. However, if you do not think I would say something to a black man or women about negativity in rap music, you certainly are wrong. Conversely, I suppose I should be willing to listen to negativity in Christian Gospel music and bluegrass as well.......

And yes -- there are songs in Country, Rock, etc etc that do society no good as well --- however, the ferocity of rebelliousness, disrespect for police and authority, glorification of drugs, sex, and gang life have been pushed to our youth in the form of hip hop far more than any other form of music. I would say death metal is a close 2nd though.

If the message of the song has a negative impact and supports or glorifies negative behavior, I won't like the song regardless of the culture it is from or the genre of the music.

Of course, for me personally, rap has no real musical value either. But yes -- in my younger days, even I, was a fan.

Starting at the end, rap has a lot of musical value if you listen to the right stuff

The rest, Idk what to say. I know a lot of country songs that glorify drugs sex, the klan, etc so to me rap is not that bad.

Perception is the greatest evil, IMO

problem #1... I understand and I would even agree sometimes that rap has real no musical value but that is due to your own ignorance... if you wan't to believe that rap has no musical value then no one will be able to change your mind... its up to you whether or not you want to take the time to find the good rappers and sometimes even great poets...

but again if you wan't to carry around that baggage of negativity on your shoulders then be my guest your loss not mine... I can find positive things in each type of genre of music and enjoy it with no problem because Music is universal... whether they are speaking English, Spanish, French, Japanese beating a drum playing a guitar... blowing on a saxaphone... it all makes sense if you want it to...

Exactly. if you get an opinion of something or listen to the wrong stuff you won't be able to listen clearly to it to know how good it really is.

Nothing wrong with Soulja Boy, Chingo Bling, Dj Unk, etc but if tha'ts what people consider when they think about rap, they are mistaken. That's more dance music, well not the tamale kingpin, but the other 2...

As far as Fort Worth goes, DCU (Da Come Up Click) is really the only ones that I can listen to. There's other guys around here that's trying to do it but, I can't get with them.

A few out of D-Town, would be Mr. Pookie and Mr. Lucci, Big Tuck (who's originally from Houston), Fat Ba$+ard and Tum Tum, and the Trap Squad Click.

But, my Texas favorites would actually be from H-Town. Slim Thug, Z-Ro, Trae, Chamillionaire, Scarface, Big Moe (R.I.P.), Lil Keke and the big homies out of Port Arthur, Pimp C (R.I.P.) and Bun-B.."A*K*A", UGK!
