How about this game. dont know anything about hays. But i don know that if the panthers play like they did today on D they will not get past Hays seeing they are 10-1 and there lost was against westlake i take it they can play.

What are the keys to this game coming up???

GO Panthers

Again HH we gave yall no respect for this past game and yall showed up and made it a great game.

I think coach Law said it best during the post game interview...

I think the kids finally realized that at this stage people want some of us. I think this will make them grow up and realize that we're not as good as everyone says we are. With some more work we can be better!

Wow wasn't expecting the HH Lufkin game to be that close, makes me think that we have a good chance in this game. I don't know much about Lufkin other than they're good according to everyone. You said if your defense plays like they did today then you will not get past us. Well I can tell you that our offense is not like Harker Heights. We have the #1 offense in the central texas area led by QB Nash McPheeters and HB Amadeus Waters. Hays' pounds the ball with their run game. Amadeus has around 1400 yards and 30 TD's. Nash can throw to a talented group of WR's and can run really well too. Looks like our offense vs. your defense should be fun to watch. Our defense on the other hand, needs to step up. We gave up 208 yards to RR's RB last night and I had never heard of him. We've basicly been outscoring everyone this year. The defense is slow and lets WR's get in open space pretty easily. Westlake killed us with screen passes 2 weeks ago, Round Rock tried to do the same, but we were able to stop it because they were practicing all week on it. I'm not sure what weapons Lufkin has on offense but I presume that the overal team speed is fast.

SHould be a fun game, any idea of when/where it's going to be played? I'm thinking Kyle Field next Saturday?

Lufkin team speed is fast and the WR are fast and big and Good. Our D is good and they played against a well coached team in HH and we grew up tonight. it sounds like it will be a good game dont know anything to say nothing but hey lets play next sat and enjoy the 2nd rd for both teams.

the coaches are meeting in a room to decide were to play and what time

I'm not quite sure what caused the Lufkin score to be so close with HH, but if it was due to the running game then you are in a bit of trouble. Amedaus Waters is IMO one of the better backs in the state. Hes a bruiser. Their qb (name is slipping my mind but its Nash something) is also good on the ground and through the air. He has like 15 tds and 1 pick. It shouldnt be THAT good of a game but if you play anything like you did against Heights then you will get beat IMO. The teams start to get better now.

Truer words were never spoken. I think the Lufkin players just received a wake up call this week. Fortunately, the real Lufkin Panthers showed up in overtime.

It seems to me though Lufkin always stumbles in the first round. If they make it out alive, they never look back! :)

i wish i wish i wish after this week i thought i was going to the hospital this was to close for me i felt like i did in 98 when we lost in the 4rd against lake highlands man i miss those days.

I am in full faith that the pack will be reay against hays the coaches will make some changes and talk about the pre-snap movements and find some plays to adjust to once a D does that maybe call 2 plays and Lufkin can make the switch to what side the D is leaning to that may help plus change the pre-snap hike the radio said it was 3 seconds after he hikes his leg got to change that other wise the d will T-off. got to make some adjustments nothing major the pack will be fine.

I told everybody............................ This is the playoffs and anything can happen alot of people in here want to talk already about Lufkin and Katy for D2 and there is alot of football to play. We have already seen a 10-0 team go down and we see a 3-7 team win, so I think this is going to be a great playoff year and I think Hays will come out this next week and not start off slow like they did on friday. I think they will come out of the gates ready to play all 4 quarters. But don't get me wrong I am not looking past Lufkin and they are still top 5 team in the state. So I think this will be a classic game but I hope we win this one. So good luck to all the teams this coming up week and let go rebs!!!!

Lufkin had a tough Harker team today. I must say that the defense play well enough to hold off Harker. The tight end play killed ,so they must be ready for a team that throws to the TE. Defense only give up two td,s. Our qb made the game tighter that what it should have been. Fumbled the ball (holdin it like a loaf of bread) and Harker picked it up and run it in for the td.Then he threw a ill advised pass with us near the goal line ,thus INT for Harker. We would have came away with at least a FG which would not have given Harker the tie late in the game.....got to play better next week. Great wake up call for us,it shows we can,t just show up now and expect to win. Now on Harker QB Donnie Shorts, this kid is awesome. Pack had him at least five times and every time he made the first man miss and got yardage.Pack should have put them away early but did not. And what can be said about Dez, awesome one hand grab. The wind really hurt the packs offensive plays today.

The only problem with wake-up calls is that they often go along with huge doses of self-doubt. We'll find out how good the Lufkin coaches are at preempting this potential implosion.

ACM - you can say alot about Lufkin - but self doubt is not on the list - lol.

PS is actually correct. This game was a carbon copy of our OT win against North Mesquite in '02 - barely, barely wone that game - then went on to the semi's.

Lufkin did not look good today - HC will win next week if this trend continues - I say it won't - but I still bet it's a heck of a game.

if lufkin plays like they did today, the will probably get beat. unless it comes down to OT and they finally flip their real lufkin panther football switch. but who knows, lufkin definately got a wake up call and something tells me practice from them boys is going to be killer this week.

i guess only time will tell who actually wins.

Lufkin,s defense really did there regular job today only giving up two td,s.Hewitt,s near pick would have been pay dirt. The offense, namely our qb was very sloppy, which cause us points. Not to say that the wind was terrible today. I hope next week will be different, to me we never really play well in Waco

Lufkin will have a slow start this next game but dominate in the second half. the lufkin D will give up a big play or two early on. Depending on first possesions, I'm gonna go with Hays scoring first.

Lufkin will win by 10-14 pts.

Prediction
Hays starts off with the lead and at Half it is Hays:7 Lufkin:3.lufkin dominates 3rd quarter and 1st 5 minutes of 4th before hays comes back and wins 21-20

from what i can gather is that hays has a good RB like Lane for Lufkin if that is the case it will be fun to watch. The panthers practiced against javorskie so slowing a big back down the back should be use to it with 8 ret starters on D and having to deal with big lane for years in highschool that should held them out. if the hays D cant stop the pass then they are in for a long long day. sometimes i think clayborn just needs to throw the bal up in the air and let him just catch it the boy is one of the best WR in the State and is going to be a rivals 100 tp player next year he is amazing and clayborn is just a JR. that could be a stong combo.

Lufkin is going to beat hays i am saying by 14 or so points. or closer who knows.

GO PANTHERS GOT TO HAVE GREAT WEEK OF PRACTICE AND WATCH FILM AND GET READY TO PLAY.

From what Hays fans has said about their own D and seeing how Lufkin has atleast scored 1-2 TD's before every halftime this year, I'd say that Hays 7 Lufkin 3 at half is ridiculous at best.

well we always start good in 1st half on D and O,maybe not 7-3

I watched some of the highlight clips of Waters... he reminds me so much of Jorvorskie. This should be interesting but I think the LP linebackers will give Waters a run for his money. Mandela Roberts has set so many records in powerlifting, guy's an beast.

Like I said before the Westlake game, if you stop Amadeus, you don't stop the Hays offense. QB Nash McPheeters is a weapon throwing and running. We have good WR's in #84 Donnie Joseph and #28 Steve Hassleman. Our FB Bubba Goodson had 64 yards in the RR game and Adam Deleon is a solid back. I just hope we don't use Amadeus as a decoy for all the other backs like we did vs. Westlake, he had very minimal carries in the 2nd half.

Ok...here is my take on the game....first of all I gotta figure out how to do a rain dance so on Saturday a monsoon can come in and make passing the ball a living hell!!! Lufkin is stacked with speed...Hays isn't....if the weather is calm and clear....Lufkin will win and win big....if we can get a sloppy day then I say it's a game.....It looks like on paper this could be a blowout but this is why you play the games.....Like the last post....I hope that we don't use Awaters as a decoy this week....let the kid run....Lufkin is Lufkin if Hays can't stop their pass it's going to be a long game....I love Hays but I am just being honest....our pass defense has been suspect the whole year....If we don't keep that offense off the field with ball control....it could get bad....BUT....we shall see Saturday.....A lot of people are comparing Waters to Lane....I think he is quicker than Lane but just as powerful....

This is playoff time and I don,t think there will be any more blow out games. Hayes has a good team or they would not be 10-1. Lufkin is very good at shuting down the run inside the red zone. Not many teams put up big yardage on us via the ground, except the Woodlands.Sound like the game will be great. I can,t think of any qb around like that kid Donnie Shorts, he gave us fits.If your pass coverage it, going to be tough, our wr,s are fast and good.

I'm very proud of LP and the fact that they passed the first real test they've had all year. Not knocking the teams they've played, because they have beaten some good teams. Just simply saying that their metal was tested in rd. 1 and they got the job done.

I've said all year long that when LP meets up against a bonifide "running" game that can control the clock, it's going to be a test for their young "O" and their dependancy on the HomeRun pass. Hays could very well be that game. If their boy is truly quicker than Lane and just as powerful, then The Pack "D" will carry a big burden this weekend. Should be GREAT !!!

The LP "O" has come a long way throughout the season, but is still a bit inconsistent. They were tested against HH, and I think that is exactly what these kids needed. They've not seen that type of pressure all season long, and that just may be the spark they need to get them through a few more rounds.

Okay Lukin fans, a wake up call. I'm not buying it. HH out of 13-5A gave you all you could handle. If you think HH gave you a wake up call you don't want the DAWGS OF COVE. I saw the game and I'm not impressed with the so called powerhouse of Lukin. I saw alot of trash talking and the team disclipine needs some work, but what do you except of 14-5A. KF is one of the poorest coached team I've seen in a while. Someone really needs to take a look at that program before the KF players serious hurt someone. Not all of them are bad players but 24 needs to learn some respect. Okay Lukin your not all that and stop makng excuses for the way you played. You final are playing good teams not the garbage you played all year. Go DAWGS GO!!!

Trooper, your just another one talking out of his hat. You take care of business on your end and we will take care of ours. By the way I saw very little trash talking on either side yesterday. No excuses here, Lufkin played a bad game yesterday, no emotion, just going through the motions. This was not the Lufkin team that had been playing earlier in the year and Harker Heights had something to do with that. I really hate it when people like you come on here and talk crap about Lufkin. We have won a State ring and been to two semi-finals the past 4 years, what has Cove done? We may or may not be as good as Cove or Hayes this year, that is yet to be determined, but we certainly have accomplished more than either of those programs the past several years. I am respecting a good Hayes and Cove team this year, so show us some or we may be sending you home like your accustomed to happening to your BullDawgs in the playoffs.

Trooper82d, You are a stupid person for talking about trash talking going on by the players and here you are talking more trashthan anyone in here. If I remember right, Lufkin one a championship several years ago playing teams that they should have blown out!! supposedly, but they one at least one in OT, and the other game they had to win in the last minute of the game. Southlake had a close game last year in the championship game but still won. Does that mean they are not a powerhouse since it was that close? It is amazing when clueless people like you come on here and start spewing nonsense after watching one game. Where have you been all season? You watch one Lufkin game and you are not impressed. Then you feel the need to start trash talking about Lufkin. How STUPID!!! I KNOW that the coaches and players could care less what you think about them.
