I'll be at the Pville - Bastrop game. Homecoming for the Panthers, alumni day for me. Any other way to keep track of Westlake and Bowie? The announcers rarely update us on the rest of the district on friday nights :(

I just went and looked at the site.

It's called Live Alerts and the tab is along the top of the page. When you sign up, select Austin Bowie from the drop down list of teams.

I'm getting excited. Bowie is already selling tickets at school a day early in expectations of a big crowd. Our stands will be blacked out for this game.

We're at home. We're tailgating. We're filling the stands. And we're going to be loud and rowdy.

I want tomorrow to be here already. I'm getting stir crazy.

Burger is biggest HS stadium next to the Palace in area, seats 16-18K? I rememeber watching Reagan lose 7-0 vs Travis in 84 district title game, sold out of course, and then Reagan CRUSHING Crockett 54-14 or so in 1987 title game, standing room only! Those were the days of AISD football, when every team was respectable, save for Austin.

I think Burger is closer to 15,000. The Palace only holds about 11,000.

I've seen Burger full maybe one time. Bowie vs. Crockett back in 1997. It was electric. I hope Bowie's side is packed tomorrow. Not sure how Westlake will travel this year.

Maybe Swope needs to play some defense, to put on some rush, 6'1" 210, 4.4 speed!

Bowie better come out and run it down their throats. We have the OLine and the stable of backs. They have a DLine all under 230.

AISD is SORRY! They have REDUCED seating at the stadiums because of low attendance! What a shame!

What? Do you ever stay on topic, or do your thoughts jump around this erratically in your personal life as well?

Burger is AISD. It's also one of the largest stadiums in central Texas. There is no reduced seating. Its capacity is set at 15,000. My simple estimates put it around 14,700.

Again, what are you talking about?

When do you ever know what he's talking about? Now dawg, how are you going to be able to broadcast the game? I know I couldn't stay still long enough to do what you do. What happens if Bowie has like a 99 yard TD run will we have to wait for you to collect your thoughts before we see it on prepcast?

Reduced from when I was in school!

Are you saying that they have made Burger Stadium smaller?

bowiedawgs01
09-25-2008, 05:56 PM
No, Loyal, his brain shrunk.

CC - I really don't know. So far I've been able to be calm while doing the broadcast. No idea how I'll react during a rivalry game.

Think I might hit this game. I'll bet the Westlake side will be small. Their fans strike me as frontrunners to the extreme, but I hope I'm wrong. Program that good for that long deserves loyalty.

We all know Bowie can score: Do they have the defense to stop Swope?

Good question. I'm not real sure. Try filling out the entire form for each team you want.

Cougars are beating your sub-varsity teams, you just might get beat on varsity! JV is moot, best sophmores are on varsity. Cougars are gonna give Austin a very good game, hopefully. AISD doesn't have the athletes in 5A of the burbs. First time I have seen Coogs sub-varsity actually beat the comp and compete. Way to go, C-Ready?

What's the over/under on yards from scrimmage for Hohmann (sp?) tonight? 175? Aside from TOs, I can't see Westlake keeping Bowie under 30 points and/or 400 yards. I'm just curious about Bowie's D.

Never know with Bowie. We've got 4 legit rushers. Or we might come out passing. It'll be interesting to see.

WOW. What a game! Can it be that Westlake started so poorly this year that Westlake was counted out and caught an over-confident Bowie? Westlake started out in a big hole with a 13-0 deficit, however, 49 to 22 after that! Finally, Swope was given the calls and a few good blocks to get into the open field. Swope in the open field is a beast and a sight to see. Bowies offense is good enough (or Westlake defense medioocre enough) that Westlake could very well have scored 42 or 49 points and still could have ended up in a loss! The turnover with 5 minutes left was a killer for Bowie. After Westlake's dubious start in preseason, Westlake gains some some momentum with Ryan with a couple hundred yards of offense and Tanner Price with maybe 300 yards! Pflugerville next week. I hope this is the Westlake team that will show up. Also need a plan on how to slow down the pville offense!

Swope is gonna find it hard going vs P-ville and so is Walker and Price!

That's what I was afraid off for Bowie, that defense. Dawgs still have impressive playmakers on offense, they'll be fine. Good support, too. I was in that sea of black on the Bowie side.

Looked like Westlake found their rhythm. If Pville struggled against Bastrop (and that's what the stats showed) then a Chap win this Friday wouldn't surprise. If Westlake scores 24 points, I think they win.

Big "if," though, I know. But that kid Price, the QB, can play. And we all know about Swope.

P-ville plays top quality defense! Price won't get time to pass and Swope won't get any holes to run through. P-ville will score enough to win, 31-24. Both base offenses are wing-ts, both defenses know keys, kinda like playing yourself. That is one reason Panthers do pretty good vs Westlake. This defense is to strong up front and to fast everywhere.

If Pville struggled against Bastrop (and that's what the stats showed)fwiw, the Statesman gave the wrong stats. they only credited us with 133 yards on the ground. the total was actually over 260. now i'd agree that we didnt look great. i expected to blow out bastrop. we'll have to play heads up against Westlake, though.

that was an impressive performance y'all put on. showed a lot of heart to get down that far and not quit.

I predicted that the ground game would come alive in this WEAK district. P-ville will rish for 250 plus each game in this league cause their opponents can't match up on the corners/skill spots! Pound Westlake and run'em ragged!

Don't think Westlake runs a Wing T. Maybe in 1976.
P-ville will pound the Chaps with the run, no doubt. Just wonder if they can get a few breakaway runs. Any home-run threats in the Panther backfield? Haven't seen them play this year.
