maybe it's time. I know there are geography issues, but when we're ~2200 enrollment and TWHS was ~4500, something is out of kilter.

they have more than twice as many students, and we had more than twice as many points last night

O SNAP!!!

6A isn't going to occur because of geography, cost of transportation and the 65% rule coming into effect.

Perhaps they could split up the 4500+ school into 2 schools.. That would make 2 5A's wouldnt it? The more the merrier I would think....

I always wondered why schools like The Woodlands, Judson, and Plano East especially aren't split into two schools. It would make so much since.

I agree Leander...I guess they have to have the cash to do something like that.. when you figure in the building, that land.. the extra staff.. that really would take a pretty good stash to do that...
You never really know though, they could already be thinking it and trying to come up with creative ways to finance it...

Woodlands is also being split next year with the opening of College park. So their numbers will go down some.

Judson was split this year. Wagner has about 2000 and Judson has around 3000.

The Woodlands was split this year...College Park is in its first year with Fresh- Junior classes... The Woodlands just has THAT many students... you would think that the Highlanders would be able to make a deeper run in the playoffs with a deeper talent pool....

Plano, Plano West, and Plano East are already split into two schools....

They only have juniors and seniors. So there are only like 2500+ kids on their campus.

It's not that hard to figure out. More students = better odds of good athletes

well we have 800 students and we're in 5A. lol

Actually it is for academic purposes, and it works.

ya but you can accept and deny admission to as many as apply to get into your school. Therefore you could choose your athletes between all the applicants that you get. I am not sure about the number of applicants, but if you multiply that number by 2 (for all boys) then you should be in atleast 5A numbers, maybe more

19-5A had two 5,000+ schools. Alief Hastings and Alief Elsik. They were power houses with much talent. They would always go deep into the playoffs. Then they would meet Katy or North Shore or Humble or some others. They added Alief Taylor and equalled the enrollment with the rest of 19-5A. The numbers don't mean you will be the best. Coaching is what determines that. You can have a load of talent and numbers and if the coaching isn't good enough, you won't be a winning program. Example, FB Marshall has about 7 DI prospects. They went 10 - 0 during reg season and lost first round to Strake. Enrollment there is about 900. I don't know how many enrolled in FB Marshall, but, they were #9 in their district. Atleast twice as many students as Strake. Strake won that game as did A&M Cons. vs The Woods.
The districts seem to make the necessary adustments when enrollments get too big. I don't think administrators want to deal with a school that has 5,000 plus students. 3K or so is plenty to keep control of and teach in a comfortable environment. A 6A class will not fix any of the problem. That would water down 5A. Besides, they are adding one team to DI next year and that is supposed to help to achieve parity in the playoffs. It may make it worse. We will se when it happens.

Madisonchick, Judson split this year. Wagner is the new high school with grades 9-11 and will begin varsity play next year. BTW, Wagner's JV team finished 7-2 and it's two freshmen teams were 8-1 each while playing most of their schedule against the 8 Northside ISD schools. Just what San Antonio needs is two good schools in football from Judson ISD.

Judson followed the Plano concept back in the late 80's. One of the main reasons was cost. Judson is basically a middle to lower income economically suburban district made up of 4 small towns and part of Bexar county. The economic base relies on property taxes. Businesses of any magnitude are virtually nil. Our growth isn't as bad as Northside ISD (3000 new students per year), but 400-500 is enormous for the size of Judson ISD. Within two years Judson enrollment will be up to 3800 and Wagner 2600. Another bond is in the working stages now to build another junior high, 2-3 elemntary schools and renovate Judson & possibly build a 3rd high school which will be need within the next 5-7 years if not sooner.
