Enthusiasm for your team is okay. I didn't hear any real disrespect.

I thought it funny when LP had the ball on the final drive of regulation. One announcer says, well, we can go down and tie it up and go to OT. The other guy says, no we're going to go down and win this game!

It sounds to me like HH represented 13-5A pretty well. Good stuff. To the rest of the state, that was our 3rd best team and the 4th and 5th best teams were in a virtual dead heat with HH in terms of quality of play and intensity.

Well LP yall played great in OT and played great D. Ill give the packs D the credit they deserve, they really played good for most of the game.

Is Lufkins Offence that bad? Or did they just play bad? Honest question not trying to get people mad....#5 didnt seem to be very good, he made alot of mistakes. I thought coming into the game he was going to be amazing and #12 was going to be decent. Boy was i wrong, #12s a really good player. He was great after the initial contact. This guy was real tuff for being so small. Alson Dez B. was really good. Despite only catching like 3 balls, he made a terrific one handed snag in the corner of the endzone.

This truly was a game of what ifs for HH. What if Heights would of held on to #5 in the endzone for the game winning safety, what if HH didnt drop so many int, what if the refs didnt totally miss a force out call which would of tied the game at 31 in OT.....But, what ifs dont count, and ill give LP credit for playing great D and having sucess running the football.

Another thing i noticed was the class of the players after the game. I didnt see one LP player taunt a Heights player after the game. I was really impressed by that. However, how could the BAND, THE FRICKIN BAND chant whos your daddy after the game? That really was pathetic, that really disgusted me. How could the players not taunt and the BAND did. unbelievable

Dustin Davis is his name. His football IQ is real good, he was smart enough to just fall on the ball and not try and run it in for 6. I think he'll tell you how fast lps D was, they really were. I really dont think he will be happy either.

oh yeah, about HHs gameplan: it really was amazing. VERY WELL EXECUTED. This may of exposed LPs offense. The presnap movement seemed to throw of #5. He seemed to be really confused. The O-line for LP better play better in later playoff games, because trust me if lufkins O plays like this against a GREAT d they will fall. yep, the radio people said that it was a bunch of pre snap movement and they confused the qb and they said something like when # 5 raises his leg's and to the snap is like 3 seconds so the HH D had that timed down to a key so the pack will have to work on that and work on new hand signals heard to by the radio announcers and the field reporter they had down there that they thought HH knew a few of the plays that the pack coaches came in with. but either or great game.

What do you know about hays sense that is in your area. I know thay got a Good RB and i read the statesman and there coach said they are going to run the ball and pound it and throw it when they can.

Sounds like a battle next week in waco i cant take another close one.

yeah, great game. Although lufkin didnt play good at all, i have to admit i have never seen such athlets at the high school level, i really was amazed.

as for #10 Donnie shorts, i think he locked up a spot on a d-1 school after his great performance.

Time to get ready for hays that was the type of game lufkin needed a hard fought game and have to play 4 quarters of football.

and in our district the pack has not got that in a long time sense lasty year so this was a good test and the panthers passed it they did the things they had to do to win and scored great game and my self thought it was going to be 48-14 i was wrong and i will eat my words on that so sorry HH fans. great game.

Now dont like to look ahead but just realized if lufkin wins and Lake Highlands win. this will be the first time sense that great game back on a saturday afternoon at SFA in the state quarterfinals that we lost 14-17 on a last second FG. man that hury so bad my senior year i thought we had that game won but we fumbled on the 1 yard line. great game and it would bring back ole sad memories if the 2 teams meet up again but each team has a game ahead of them and i dont know anything about hays but they are good and only lost to westlake so it is going to be a good game.

Ok, well cove is basiclly a running team. So LPs front 7 better be ready like they were today. Buckman coves RB is really good with explosive speed, i think i got his name right. Cove QB brent gardner is really accurate i think hes got what it takes to beat a team like Lufkin. Cove D is also really good. I thing i noticed about cove is they are very disciplined. They play very good funtamental football. Coves safty tim achinsen is a pritty good athlete, he reminds me on LPs #11, 11 being a little better.

Lufkin basiclly same thing. Both teams are very well coached, bu jack weltch and outlaw. One think i can guarantee, if #5 for lufkin plays like he did today against cove, cove will have a field day. Lp better be ready for cove if they play in the 4th round.

Final note, i think coves D isnt as good against the spread offense as it is against other offenses. I think LP would have alot of success
with the option against cove. Cove seemed to be a little prone to a athletic qb. BUT cove did shut Shorts down in the 2nd half when HH played Cove so im not really sure.


If cove did play LP i would pic lufkin in a very physical game. I think if they played it would be a great D battle.

But who knows, im sure from here on out youll see alot of the same stuff heights threw at lufkins O. Maybe pre-snap movement can confuse #5 throughout LPs playoff run.....a cove lp showdown could go either way..if this game is played, expect ALOT of fans. ALOT

I hate Copperas Cove...but, after seeing Lufkin today against Harker Heights......I would go with Cove in the win. If you think Harker Heights has team speed and skills....you should see Copperas Cove.

The thing about the playoffs is you really aren't that familiar with teams.......the coaches have to really study those 3 games that they get.

I know what kind of offense Harker Heights has.....and I knew that Lufkin wouldn't really be that familar with it.........so, I knew it was going to be a close game.

Harker Heights has some really good coaches.......

Everyone says that 13-5A is weak this year .........but really it was a great competitive year...........Belton just beat Harker Heights two weeks ago.......Belton also almost beat Abilene earlier in the year.....Waco almost beat Cove, A&M, and Harker.....they just couldn't get it done with a young team. Killeen Shoemaker lost by 1 to Harker Heights......(they actually had a better offense than Harker) Temple even put up a fight against Cove and Harker Heights.

I wish the district would stay in tact...but there are also rumors that Copperas Cove may drop to 4-A.

1ts of all #5 - Claybon is only a Jr. as is 90% of the LP offense and his first playoff game at the Varsity level. This is the best test he has seen all year so he'll only get better. LP graduated the entire O-line last year, including their super back J. Lane. I would say sitting @ 11-0 is a nice accomplishment considering.

If you have ever been around an Outlaw coached team, you would know that he doesn't allow his players to get overconfident and think more highly of themselves than what the "team" accomplished. This will be used for next week, so Hays will see a real Panther team, playing with new fire.

I keep hearing about the what-ifs for HH, but what-if Hewiit (#11) picks that pass and returns it for 6, Claybon doesn't fumble to give HH an easy six, or Claybon doesn't throw the desperation pass at the 4 and LP at least gets 3....man it's part of the game and it's all about the final score.

I have been watching LP for many years and I can tell you they will be loaded to bear for Hays next week as this will be used to keep there feet on the ground.

HH came ready to play and that was fun, it's been so hard to get up for a game when your 2nd team sees more playing time than the 1st throughout the season.

Time to move on. There were a lot of upsets today and glad we were not one of them. ;) For example...Who would have thought Texas Tech was going down to OSU??? :eek:

The thing about the playoffs is you really aren't that familiar with teams.......the coaches have to really study those 3 games that they get.

I know what kind of offense Harker Heights has.....and I knew that Lufkin wouldn't really be that familar with it.........so, I knew it was going to be a close game.

Harker Heights has some really good coaches.......

Everyone says that 13-5A is weak this year .........but really it was a great competitive year...........Belton just beat Harker Heights two weeks ago.......Belton also almost beat Abilene earlier in the year.....Waco almost beat Cove, A&M, and Harker.....they just couldn't get it done with a young team. Killeen Shoemaker lost by 1 to Harker Heights......(they actually had a better offense than Harker) Temple even put up a fight against Cove and Harker Heights.

I wish the district would stay in tact...but there are also rumors that Copperas Cove may drop to 4-A.

Slow down hoss. Cove beat Temple 49-14 don't think it was much of a fight. Some pretty good teams in 13-5A despite what some may think HH being an example. After tonite 13-5A will be 2-1 against 14-5A so the play on the field will show that at least so far in the playoff's CENTEX has the edge :D

Harker Heights coaching staff is excellent, because that IS the best coached team we have faced all season. They really had a game plan and stuck with it, props to that team for playing their hearts out today. As for Lufkin, we have to pick it up and start playing like we are capable of playing, too many mistakes. But i think we found some hidden gold in the running back staff, as Jacory Turner really had an excellent game.

Best high school football game i have ever been a part of, the atmosphere was unbelievable, playing against them was an honor, too bad we couldnt pull it out the saddest moment so far in my career. I have all these what ifs and could have in my head but i know i gave it all on the field and so did the rest of my knights, we were 33 point underdogs to lufkin but we knew we could hang i had been talking all week about it but nobody wanted to listen to me.

Lufkin is good ill admit it, they were so fast on defense and offense, on d numbers 10,11,42,46, and 7 were all better than any player we have played againt or i have blocked all season( i didnt block nubmer 11 but he ran by me once and omg he was really fast) they should be able to beat anybody in the state from what i saw, we sure did hang with em though, when lufkin stated blitzing so much at the end we just couldnt get that ball to our receivers i credit it to a good job of the lufking secondary, number 10 is really good best player on d he made lots of plays and is really hard to block i tyred to cut him after i had trouble with him and he jumped and clean over me thank god he didnt make a play coach would have been pissed,

On offense you should throw it up to dez bryant everyplay he will catch it, but lufkin had so many other weapons 2,5,22, i dont know everybody was so much faster, to say we were not as talented as lufkin is an understatement.

I though if we could be in it late in the game we would win but lufkin proved me wrong they did what they had to when they had to and they pulled out the victory the only regret i have is should have i picked that fumble up and ran it for a td, haha naw im jk i would have got tackled but it doesnt hurt to dream.

i see lufkin goin deeper now that longviews out hell they could take it to state i hope they do. I just have never seen a more talented and fast group of guys in my life.

yeah, great game. Although lufkin didnt play good at all, i have to admit i have never seen such athlets at the high school level, i really was amazed.

as for #10 Donnie shorts, i think he locked up a spot on a d-1 school after his great performance.

despite the band, LP players showed great class.
My hat is off to HH. They fought hard. The mark of a good team is to take your opponent out of their game. HH did that to us all day long. We were lucky to pull it out. Props to HH77 good fumble recovery to keep your drive alive. This is how I looked as I was listening to it on the radio :eek:

Hey I just want to congratulate you on a good game that you and your teammates played. I know that you would rather have the win but I think you guys showed that you could play with the best of teams. Your comments were honest and real. You seem like a great kid and you played a good game. I have never gotten on here and said that we would blow any team out. I have always said that I think we have the capablility to be great and that I would just go to each game knowing that on any given night we could lose but that we also have a great shot at winning. Nothing wrong with my Panther brothers being confident but I am just more conservative about how I think our team will do. I just know that there are certain Longview fans(not all of them but just a few) that said at the beginning of the season that we would be "average at best" because we didn't have Lane anymore and that if we met up with them they would run the ball down our throats. Well I like to let our team prove what they are capable of on the field and just earn the W any way they can. So I can relate somewhat to what people were saying about your team. They didn't think you could hang. Well you did and a good team will take advantage of another teams mistakes. Who knows, we could be out in the next round. I hope we are not but I know anything is possible. Once again, great game. Your team was ready and they showed it.

Hey Wide - great to see you and Pack0808 -- definitely made the trip for me. I gotta believe you will see an improved Claybon next week - this was easily his worst game of the year - by far. He got rattled and never settled down - lucky the team is moving on.

I still say HH is the best 6-4 team I've seen in a while - they had a great plan and almost pulled the darn thing off. We may see you next week hopefully - I'll be there with better half in tow this game.
