Look at those teams they are garbage. You couldnt ask for an easier road to the State Title. We (Cove) are sitting here in region two and have to play Klein Forest, than Leander, next prob. Dallas Carter, next Lufkin, than either Abilene or SL Carrol, just to get to the State title. Dont get me wrong, I love the challenge, but how unfair is it to the region 2 teams when region three has a freaking 4-7 team???

That may be true for Div 2 but not Div 1 where four undefeated teams play each other in the first round and by this Friday only one of the four will remain. You would not want to be in front of that Region 3 freight train!

You might be talking about Alvin who only got in because Galveston Ball was disqualified. Otherwise, they aren't in the playoffs. Region III is pretty hard too - Katy, Westfield, North Shore...

I third that. Every region has some tough Teams and some weak teams. It's just the way the matchups fall. You just gotta take care of business and not worry about who your opponent is.

To whoever called me and idiot because I typed @ instead of 2, good lord I didnt know a small typo makes me an idiot. what you said here is not bad, but that is not what you said in the first post. In the first post you were complaining about it. Here you are just pointing out a deficiency in the playoff system not complaining about it.

Are you talking Division 1 or Division 2 ?
Because if you are saying REG 3 div 1 is weak, you don't know football.
I do admit that if I was in Reg 2 div 2, I would think that was the overall best this year. ( Carter10-0, Cove 10-0, Longview10-0, Lufkin10-0,Hays9-1, John Tyler 8-2)
But look at Reg 3 Div 1...Lamar 10-0, Westfield 10-0(state finalist04),Pearland10-0, Northshore10-0(state Champion 03) and that is just one side of the REG 3 bracket.
KATY is in REG 3 Div 2.... three state championships(most recent 03 vs. SLC)

If you are in a tough region the games actually get easier after you get out of your region, so being in a tough reg may benefit you later.

The coaches won't say what I just stated about getting easier as you get further along, but let me give you an example. In 03 Northshore's toughest game was it's regional final against Houston Lamar. After that game they beat the heck out of Westlake 52-0 and dominated the Woodlands, although the scoreboard did not show it. 23-7(with two touchdowns called back)
Houston Lamar would have won state in 03 if Northshore had not. I bet you have not even heard of Houston Lamar. They are a REG 3 contender year in and year out, but have not won state. So if you were in Reg 3 you might not feel it is so easy.
Altough I will admit any region with Lufkin, Longview, Tyler Lee and John Tyler is GOOD. Glad to see John Tyler have a say in the playoffs after some down years.

I understand 100% but come on dude. It really does sound like your being a cry baby. That is a very tough road, and we would have that same tough road. If your the better team then you will win the games. Theres no differnece in losing to Katy in the 3rd round (which would probably happen if you were in region 3) or losing to Katy in the state championship (which would probably happen if you made it all the way to state). Its just the way the playoffs are set up.

Every team that wins their respective region will be a great team. In Region 3, the winner will either be Katy, have beaten them, or beat somebody that beat them, or... well, you get my point.

The goal is to win the State Championship, not to pick up a few easy wins before getting knocked out. Besides, what is your alternative? To seed it like the NCAA Basketball tournament and have teams traveling all over the state?

As was stated before, you have to take care of your business and then you can take care of the other regions. If you are good enough you will get thru your region. Then you can whip up on the RIII or RIV team in the finals!! I don't see that happening.
One year RI and II are stronger, the next there is no difference and the next RIII and IV are stronger. You just have to deal with what comes your way. if you can't, then hang up your cleats and sit in the stands. Any team on any given Friday can beat another. You stay focused and are good enough you will come out on top. The 'cream of the crop' as they say! Any team that emerges from RI or RII in DII will have to beat the team that emerges from RIII or RIV. They are not going to lay down and surrender. Besides, RIII is going to win state no matter who comes out of RI, RII or RIV!! And that's a fact Jack!!!

Hmmm. What happened today to the Reg 2 superstars is a prime example of why you shouldnt make generalized posts about a region being trash...if for no other reason then Katy, they dont really deserve that. You can say that overall a region is more difficult or has superior teams (which I think can be said of Reg 1 after today) but there are some very good teams in all regions. No one who knows football is going to honestly say that from top to bottom Reg III div 2 is the toughest but they arent trash and as in every playoff year, this week teams start over at 0-0. Its one and out for everyone, even a 10-0 team (sorry Longview) even if it is against a 6-4, 5-5, or 4-6 team.

I don't think you would want to play that 4-7 (5-6 officially now since G-Ball forfeit which they didn't need to get in but Alvin did because they won the right district games) right now since obviously you would take them for granted. Clear Creek is a dangerous young team rebuilding and getting better with each game (I don't think they know they are suppose lose or they do and just don't care?).
Deer Park beat them the first time and got beat the second time, bet they were surprised by the changed team and talking like you are right now not less than a week ago. They improve each week and are executing. Don't worry though, their reward if they knock off West Brook this week will probably be getting to play Katy (once they knock of Cy Creek). Not such an easy route to state after all. Any given game another team can surprise another, all it takes is just a few mistakes. In the playoffs, I wouldn't take anyone for granted.

theres always a weak and a strong region... its nothing new...region 3 in D1 had 4 undefeated teams playing each other the first week...your point is moot unless you would rather the UIL seed(sp?) the spots instead of do them by district, which if geographical placement wasnt an issue i think they would do

It doesnt matter how weak/strong a region is. THE BEST TEAM will come out on top. Now how much fun there is along the way is debatable. If your the best team in your region then you will win.
whether you play a KATY/SLC/LUFKIN/WESTFIELD in the first round or last round ....everybody knows you have to beat them to win it all. The strength of region only makes it fun or boring. The strength of a TEAM is all that matters in the end. You may be able to beat every other team in region "WEAK" too, but if you cant beat the best team in region "WEAK", then what does it matter.

People said this some thing in '03 and both champs came from the weak region 3....looks like this year is shaping up alot like that one.....one can only hope.

This kinda stuff just happens when you have a playoff system...i say we scrap it and have a high school BCS...then we would have a definitive champ year in and year out!!!! lol

First off, i would just like to say that anyone that would make the mistake of saying region 3 div 2 is weak and would be much easier to get through is sadly mistaken. Those teams in Region 3 Div 2 Played schools like Lamar, Westfield, Northshore, Galveston ball, Woodlands, Lufkin, Klein forest. Take Humble for example. They are in Region 3 Div 2. They lost 3 games ( Katy, Woodlands, Westfield) And all those games Humble could have won. (with maybe the exception of westfield. If your are telling me that Cove come out of Region 3 is down right halirous. A Region 3 team will win both state championships. DIV1 goes to Westfield or North shore. Div 2 Goes to Katy.
