Three pretty solid Tx 4A teams in Lake Travis, HP and Longview. I would say on any Friday night it would be whose playing their "A" game the best that wins.
I wouldnt say that any team would blowout the other by any stretch of the imagination.

The Eagles (1-2) also got 192 yards rushing from CerDerrick Tyson on 23 carries. Tyson also had a touchdown...

Oh boy, throwing some Stats at me too try and prove some stupid point. The Stat that counts the most at the end of the day is the score stat (46-31);)
Evangel would matchup pretty good with (0-3) Austin Westlake. That would be a decent game and go deep into the 4th Qt.
What I would believe is Lake Travis vs Longview on the field. You telling me that Longview would crush Lake Travis is kind of joke. Beat.? Maybe.
Crush, Highly doubt it.;)
Like I said before, I think most of your opinion is based on the butt spanking Longview put on Evangel.
Longview vs Lake Travis= Hard fought 4th Qt game.
Spare me the BS stats. I can look at just about everyone one of Lake Travis games so far and see where kids had success on the offense from Princton Collins (RR Westwood) to Ryan Swope (Westlake).;)

Dayton, Connally both had speed and lost. You need speed in coverage and a good interior defense to stop the run and force things wide so that you can use your speed. If you allow them to run up the gut you are through! Good athletes at LB is a plus cause they will tackle Gilbert and he won't be a running threat. You also better have an offense that can put up some points, and don't get duped on special teams. They will go for two and do onsides and pooch kicks to save their defense from getting winded cause they run no huddle/hurry up offense.

I agree with you. Basically Lake Travis defense goes by the "bend dont break" method. They wont shut out anyone but rely on slowing down the other teams offense enough to let their (Lake Travis) offense run & gun.
Pretty much the same goes with Highland Park.
I do think Longview would enjoy some running success on Lake Travis but I dont think Longview defense would shut down Lake Travis offense either.

Stats so many times can be so misleading about games. But, I honestly dont get your point about posting them. Are you trying to make some kind of claim that Evangel has done something on Lake Travis that no other team in Texas has been able to do to Lake Travis ?
You can look at several other games this year against Lake Travis and see some of those similiar stats.
The bottom line is Lake Travis wins. Defense "bends" and offensive "Scores."
I'm also not saying Longview wouldnt beat Lake Travis. I'm just not so sure about the "CRUSH" part.
I think it would be a tough hard fought game that goes almost 48 minutes. Probably come down to who wins the turnover battle.

This thread makes jtk LOL. Longview would crush LT?! Seriously?! BWAHAHAHAHA!! It would certainly be one helluva game, but LT is clearly the better team and would definitely win what would probably be a high scoring game. Highland Park would give LT a better game than Longview simply because HP plays a style that would work better against LT's defense and because HP is the only team that could get in a shootout with Lake Travis and have enough bullets to make it damn close or even win.

The QB from LT is the real deal, real impressed with him during the game and even more after the game for his actions. He is a class act and a helluva football player. Since I have been at both games, I would give the edge to Longview, their defensive line is quicker and puts pressure on very well. I don't think it would be a blowout but I do think that Longview could win by 10. Longview is young this year but are very talented not to say that LT is not. They are two different types of teams. Longview runs the ball very well and LT has a great passing game. Many times last night I thought Gilbert would be sacked on to have that bazooka of a arm find its way into a receiver's chest. Impressed with both teams, we played a lot better last night and if not for a couple key turnovers a fumble and a int might have been closer. Had one turnover taken away which the film showed that it was a INT. Great atmosphere last night, and very gracious LT fans that were very complimentary of our team after it was over. I will follow both teams closely thoughout the rest of the season. Good luck to both!

Ya, did you read the artical on Rivals about Oaks Christian Academy and their recruiting. Many of the California HS public school coaches in that region are starting to :Censor: because of the unfairness of the system.
Totally agree though.. Stack a team with many D-1A prospects and play against a lot of inferior caliber teams 95% of the time and you can really pad those stats. Along with a super Press-Hype machine pushing your name.
He has supposely one of the best offensive minds as his college HC and is in a offense totally revamped for him and he still isnt crap. At least to the Super human QB hype that they built him up to be. Just another Ron Powlus if you ask me. US Army All-American game that year was funny because NBC pushed Clausen like he second-coming but Ryan Mallett (Texas High) out played him all day long at the QB spot.
Then Ryan Mallett backed it up by outplaying him in the Michigan vs Notre Dame game last year when both freshman QB's played 90% of the game.;)
Ryan Mallett is clearly the much better QB then Clausen with size, arm strength (no question there) and even mobility.
I've seen two Matt Barkley (Mater Dei) games on tv now and in both games he really hasnt done anything to impress me as far as being the #1 recruit and QB in the nation.

First of all, the game was like 7-0 at the end of the first quarter, so to say the game was over is ignorant. It was going to be 14-7 at half, but a squirly TD put Pflugerville up 20-7. That's hardly "over", even at halftime. Third of all, turnovers killed Longview, not because they were smaller, slower, and weaker.
Finally, if Austin area teams are so much bigger, faster, and stronger than Longview, why did Leander get trounced the week before by Longview? Wow, there went that theory of yours about Austin area teams. Did you TRY to post something so stupid? Or did you not mean to? I hope you meant to.

Finally, if Austin area teams are so much bigger, faster, and stronger than Longview, why did Leander get trounced the week before by Longview? Wow, there went that theory of yours about Austin area teams. Did you TRY to post something so stupid? Or did you not mean to? I hope you meant to.
Why did you lose 21-7 to Allen? Had a hard time scoring on a REAL 5A team instead of an East Texas Street baller!

I was at that game.
No, they dont like it when Gilbert gets hit. In fact, they get rather pissy about it. saying that, he's still just as lethal while he's being hit as when he isnt being hit. Gilbert is good because his mental game is better than his physical game.
ECA lost that game because they were NOT the better team. Not by a longshot. The score should have been closer than what it was. 2 things that kept that from happening. ECA blowing extra points for whatever reason. And the refs. either way though, ECA was going to lose that game.
ECA is down. Down from what? Down from where they were 5-10 years ago.
Longview Vs. Lake Travis. Longview would win that. The only way Longview would lose that game would be if it was a playoff game and Longview nutted up like they tend to do in playoff games from time to time. Longview wins that game. The only way I can see Longview losing that game is if LT jumps out by 2-3 scores really fast. Then, Longview would have their hands full.

Let me guess.. Private schools dont really recruit:rolleyes::rolleyes: ?
I hear there is some Ocean front property for sale in Idaho with an altitude of 8,000 feet.:D
Private schools dont recruit ever, They have a very strict attendance zone kids come from, and they dont give scholarships to athletes (financial aid). Plus, they have a very tough academic test before they can qualify for the school.
What is the strict attendance zone for Evangel ? Shreveport.. "LOL."

Uh. What does anything in this conversation have to do with recruiting? Nothing. If you want people to take you seriously on something, you should try to not pull some stupid pointless arguement out of the air. ECA follows the rules set forth by the LHSAA. They follow them. I dont know any other way for that to make sense to you. The LHSAA (the La, UIL) makes rules and ECA follows them. And ECA is looked at awfully hard over there, just like all the other private schools with any history of success. Because people like you blow your hole about it all the time. So again, I have to ask, what does that have to do with this? Nothing. Furthermore, until you've lived in Louisiana and attended private schools for the bulk of your grade school and high school years, it would best to STFU. You really dont know what you're talking about and everytime you mention something you know nothing about, it shows.
Yes, ECA provides financial aid to some students. Some athletes, some not. A lot of private schools do that. They're allowed to. Public school gets are getting financial aid. The taxpayers.
Attendance Zone. I cannot tell you the exact attendance zone of ECA. I can tell you it is exactly the same attendance zone of Huntington High School (public 5A, shreveport).
Academic test. I dont know if ECA does that or not. When I transferred there from a public I dont recall if I had to or not. I know they interviewed me beforehand. I dont recall a test. I would prolly remember that. I had to cut my hair though, I do remember that. They more than likely dont have an kind of entrance exam. Why should they? Do public schools have an entrance exam they administer before a kid is allowed to go there? Well, I'm paying for those kids to be there and I think they should. Anyway, I transferred to ECA from a public school in Shreveport that's not in the ECA attendance zone. I interviewed with the people. went home and cut my hair. started school there that fall. I was unable to play any sports that first year because I came from outside the attendance zone. I think you'd be shocked at how many kids will sit that year out in order to be able to play the next year.
You know all these things though. You've heard them time and time again. I dont understand why you feel the need to have it told to you over and over. You should know it all by now since you know everything there is to know about sports and schools in Louisiana. I mean, are you testing me to see if I know?

Just want to throw this in since we're talking about private schools. After hurricane Katrina, Joe McKnight went from John Curtis to Evangel Christian until JC was reopened. I wonder how it came about that a top notch nationally ranked player would go to what's considered one of the best programs in Louisiana that just so happens to be a private school? I think there was a little motivation for McKnight on that one.

Weren't too many places for Joe to play during those days after the storm..(lol)....We was under water!
Anyways, East St John had 20 kids join their team after the storm...Kids were going everywhere....Not good days at all...
Movie that just came out-explains alittle about those days...

Evangel went for "2" twice-missed both, had one blocked and missed one...Evangel had no problems moving the ball....
Gilbert is a stud, no doubt about that...Kid can play...
I do think Lake Travis had alittle home cooking in this one though, just my opinion...
Hey, game is over and time to move on...
Just glad Evangel didn't lay an egg...

Yes, he did. His school was closed for a bit due to Katrina. He wanted to play ball. He, like a lot of people, knew ECA's history. The LHSAA commissioner said that kids from affected areas were allowed to go to any school they wanted pretty much.
Him leaving a closed down JohnCurtis for ECA didnt seem to shock too many people. He left what was pretty much the #1 program in the state due to a hurricane and came to what was prolly a 2nd or 3rd ranked program. And ECA is a private school. Most people that are educated in a private system would rather stay with something they kinda know.
another note to add. I'm pretty sure it's still this way, but when I was in school (graduated early 90's) a kid could transfer from one private to another pretty much as he/she wanted.
I know when I went from private to public I couldnt get my butt back into a private fast enough. You have to remember that public schools in Louisiana are not what they are over here in Texas. I'm sure Texas has their share of crappy publics as well, but most of Louisiana's publics simply are not good educational institutions. I hate to say that, but it's true. There is a reason why Louisiana is 2nd to last in almost everything. It starts from the top and goes down. The education system is not spared from this.

Everything that was listed in the last couple threads are true. You have to pass a outside source in order to get aid to the school and it is adminstered to everyone not just athletes. I know several students whom don't particpate in anything but just go to school that gets aid. Our attendance zone is Huntington's attendance zone and regardless of what school in Shreveport/Bossier that you come from, you have to sit out a year unless you move into the zone. Most of our kids have been with us since elementary school and jr high school. We get about 2 transfers on average a year except for the hurricane year in 2005 in which we got about 125 only for most to go back after a few weeks, in all I think about 33 stayed and only 3 athletes out of that group in 05. It costs about $4500 a year to go to Evangel plus different fees such as a athletic fee which is $200 to particpate. I know of one kid that works fulltime in the summer and on weekends after football season to pay his own tutiion because he doesn't want to go to the La public schools, his mother and dad said if you can pay it you can go! We dress out about 65 kids from 9th though 12th at the moment, back when I first got there we had over a hundred. Our junior high programs have over 70 kids coming up in it. Most folks like to get a good education and have good athletics that go along with it and Texas schools beat all of La public schools hollow in education and facilities.

Thats why Lufkin handed Pville there *** in 2004 at Kyle. Get at me when a team from the Austin area in 5A wins a championship this decade. Also in 2001 who did Lufkin feed in the state championship game no other then the King of Austin in Westlake.
Just because Pville had some magical run to state and got there *** blown off the field doent mean shi*
RR is the only team from the Austin area that has some balls. Also Longview is going to kill Lake Travis. I love the fact that people actually think this will be close, and that Lake Travis is the favorite. LMAO we will see both are Div 1 locks something has got to give.

I wasn't trying to "church up" anything. I was trying to correct blatant lies you were telling such as the game being over before the first quarter when in reality, it was close through halftime. Unless, of course, a 13 point lead where the team down 13 is receiving the ball at half is "over". And the fact that "Austin Area teams are bigger, stronger, and faster than Longview" when in fact only one beat Longview. The other that tried got demolished (since a 21 point win is KILLING a team, I guess Longview killed Leander, huh?) And still, ONE team beating Longview doesn't mean ALL Austin area teams are better... Neutral observers have said Longview is better than Lake Travis. I hope we find out.

Your trying to add color to a black and white picture 35-14 it wasn't close you were beat down physically, emotionally, and mentally. Yes I even said yall whipped Leander congrats on that. What you call state championships we call antiques. I'm not living off Round Rock just proving you were overrated. As I said earlier J-Lane was a beast.. When did I say Pflugerville was bigger, faster, stronger than Lufkin? Lufkin had the bigger stronger team in 04 then Pflugerville when they played. Last time I checked there is no Lufkin Lobo team. While we had a taste of the state championship last year, I hope our team is hungry and want the whole thing this year.
