Judson only allowed a total of 117yds in total offense tonight. Judson's defense was just too much for Seguin.

That's great. I was just now able to get down this far. Home game next week.

Judson will play at home against O'Connor. If Judson wins and Lajoya wins, then that game will be at Judson; and if Judson wins that game & Westfield continues to win, that game will also be at Judson. Possibly, the next 3 game Judson plays could be at Judson Stadium.

So much for my "reminder and a warning" thread from earlier in the week...Thankfully. I know with the Alamodome out of the equation that it puts a premium on even Alamo stadium at this point, but is it absolutely, positively true about a possible three-game stand in Converse? If so, sounds like fun, although the deepest penetration for Judson in a Converse game was the rain-soaked Austin Reagan affiar in 1986 that had a rather unfortunate ending----either way, at this point, we can use every advantage we can get, and even if it doesn't work out, at least we can have some fun. Next week's game will be the first time since 1991 that Judson has a second-round game in Converse. Hopefully the Rockets have as much success with O'Conner's felis concolor as they did with the 1991 Clark version. We can do without the "cat scratch fever."
NOTE: If indeed Judson gets to meet Westfield in Converse, it would be one of the more peculiar Region IV Semi-final locations since Aldine Ike met Edinburg (I think) at Harlandale in 1999.

That's a lot of if's for the 3 game homestand to occur, but it would be fun to play in the friendly confines of Judson Stadium.

If Judson manages to pull this off in at least the next two weeks, we should probably expect to see some more games similar to what we had tonight and thus similar to what took place in 1984, where Judson posted 14-0, 7-6, and 14-7 scores enroute to the re-match with Madison. This whole experience this season really does remind me of the 1980, '81, and '84 seasons where the defense was extremely good, but the offense, although fair, was very erratic most of the time, such that I felt much safer when we were on defense, since the defense actually had a better chance of scoring at times than the offense.

It's all up to where Judson wants to play if they meet LaJoya and Westfield. They could just as easily play Harlingen and North Shore and have to flip for a site.

What was it that allowed us to dominate so much? Looking at the lineups, it looks like we had a huge size difference on offense. What was it about our defense?

Our offense just wasn't very good this year. Luckely for us, nearly all of our skill posistion players are coming back. As for your offense against our defense, Judson didn't really get much going in the first half. Our defense is very good but undersized; Judson has a big offensive line that wore on us late in the game as they were on the field all night.

Seguin's offense has always been suspect under Carson. He always seems to have a great defense. I think last year's defense was better than this years.
Seguin is going to have to find a running game. The pass offense is not bad but you have to make other teams repect the run in order to have success throwing.
If they can maintain their level of play on defense next year which I believe they will, their offense should be much better.

This is what I see in next years team: On defense we have our two best returning D-line men including a defensive of end Logan Johnson who has 13 sacks. 3 of our top four linebackers are returning including 3 year starter Marcus Greenwood and a middle linebacker who recorded over 140 tackles this year. In the secondary we have two year starting safety Tyler O'neil returning and Desmond Jackson (didn't play in the playoffs) the teams best player who intercepted 6 passes this year and returned 4 of them for touchdowns. The way see it, the Mats only lost one key player on defense and that is Safety Thomas Wright. On offense, we have are starting runningback coming back for his third straight year. Our O-line is returning their 3 biggest guys, all above 270 LBS. We have our top receiver returning in Calvin Caad and a few other good receivers. Our QB is graduating but out backup was at least as good. Our offense wasn't good to begin with so it needed to be overhauled but I think we are keeping 5 of our top 7 players on offense. If we can feel the few holes we have on defense, which I know we will, our defense should be the best we have had here and that is pretty impressive. Our offense should be much improved and if they can just put up 21 on good teams I think we when more times than not. Next year is an exciting year for the Mats.
