We concede, 26 is better than 25 (c'mon SM let us not a sweep). It shows that a powerful dist gets u ready for the playffs. I have always felt that the top 2 - 3 teams (in each dist) were evenly matched - but the difference is the level of play. 26 - 5 has the harder dist week in and week out and having to play up to each team each week sets the tone for the playoffs. I think 26 was better prepared.....

If there's a 26 team that I want to go far into the playoffs....it would have to be Madison....they're North East so I guess I'll just go with them.....course now that I've said this, they'll lose terribly in the second round.

i agree completely which is why i told the clemens people plenty to hold up on all their talking and to stop pounding their chests for winning a weak district. let the first playoff game happen before you start talking. You can be happy for your team but this past week was a little too much IMO for just coming out on top of 25-5a. Now that clemens has been blown out by the 2nd best team in 26-5a i hope they learn not to be like this in the future. Eat crow clemens!!! ;) go rangers by the way! :)

Svbigman, I know that the SV people don't like us much, but get a grip. We all talk as much smack as we can before a game, no different than anyone else here! That's what it is all about.

Guess what, God willing the sun will come up tomorrow and the birds will sing! There is only one good thing about the Spanking tonight and that is that I can spend a whole lot more time at the ranch with my family deer hunting this year again! It kind of sucked in 03' when I missed 5 weekends of hunting because of all the playoff games! LOL

I didn't think the Mavs had a chance in a close game, I knew they had a chance! I'm telling you they played one hell of a game tonight and if they continue to play at that level, they are more than capable of winning the region and more! The thing that really impressed me was how their O-line dominated our D-line almost completely! We had no trouble moving the ball, except for 5 TOs! :(

Not that surprising.... I'm not giving excuses - Madison EARNED this one. If Henry was there it would have been the close game that everyone expected (high scoring). Not saying Clemens would have won - but, when you loose your first option in a running game, it takes more than two weeks to get in sync in any offense. Madison you played a GREAT game and i'm not taking anything away from you!!! Good LUCK...

I think Clemens can hold their head up High. No one ever asked SV to stop patting themselves on the back when they got an "easy" draw in the playoffs. Unfortunately you have to draw region 3 in Div 1....HTown is going to rip u again! H-Town strength is Div 1 and would win against any 1 in Div 2 (IMOP).

Yep Clemens got ripped!! Not overrated though - ( IMHOP). They were missing their best back...Probably the best back in State... This late in the game missing ur #1 player will pretty much complete the season - as it happened tonight. Not taking away anything away from Madison though! - they were able to score on our "D". Congrats to them. However, if Clemens were to play in 26 this year ---------The Diamond J would be sitting home.

Um.... I don't remember Clemens being ranked # 1 in state in dfense. They were rated high, but never #1. I think HTown Teams will reign supreme... 26-5A is one of the best districts in the state. That's why somebody makes a deep run almost every year. The stats say historically the Little SWC is the only district better than 26.

I don't know if you noticed it or not, but not only did we play playoff teams in non-district, but those teams also won last night. They did the same thing last year, too! :p We welcome your boys from H-town! :D

4. They got lucky bounces.

6. Any other cliched excuse I may have left out...

You might be right, but then again we will still be playing if we get to that point. I have said all year that 25 was just to weak and come playoffs it would show. Madsion, Judson and SV will advance. Two weeks ago I said that the Henry injury would catch up to them, but I still would not thnk it would matter, Madsion woudl of won anyway.

Fortunately for Judson, the way the season breaks down is favorable to them when taking on a more talented Houston area team. They have used the formula handed to them many times - and it works. Play a tough non-district schedule (work on improving, not winning), play in a tough district with few easy weeks (work on improving and winning), play an easy playoff route with occasional big matchups in anticipation of the last 2 games (work on gelling, while not being beat up).

I've said all year that bottom teams in 265a (Mac, Churchill, Reagan) were much better then last year. I also think that Madison as proven that they can win the big games this year as well as show they can come from behind. Caflish has that "feel" on how to make a big play when it's needed.
Judson is not as good as last year but their defense will allow them to be in every game. They can't keep making the special team blunders that they've been doing if they want to keep going. If their offense plays steady with no mistakes, they could make it to the semi's with low scoring wins. SV has been very solid but I still don't think they're as good as last year...yet. Their defense bends a little but seems to make "great" plays in the red zone when needed. They must win today and then have probably the toughest 2nd round game for the SA area in Jay. Jay's speed could cause problems and their defense is underated.
Next year it's going to be even better for the district. Churchill gets Finuzzi back. Mac returns an unheard of starters back (8 on offense and 8 on defense), Reagan will be better and Roosevelt will be better with all the sophmores and juniors they played this year. The top 3, SV, Madison and Judson will still be the top dogs to beat but as tough as it was this year, it's going to be tougher next year and a 4th team gets into the playoffs.

As for today's game....I like SV to win.

Next week:

Judson vs O'Conner
O'Conner has had a good year with a lot of young players but Judson's defense will win this game. Not a high scoring game unless Judson gets turn overs with a short field. O'Conners defense is not as good as Seguins but their offense is better then Seguins. Neither team is as good as last year but Judson wins 21 - 13

Madison vs Clark
Clark is just an old fasion blue collar team. They don't do anything special. They'll try to control the game with the run to keep Caflish and Green off the field. Madison is coming off a high and will have to re-focus on this game. I think they will and should win this game
Madison wins 35 - 17

Jay vs SV (I know, I'm getting ahead of myself)
Jay is very fast but have not played a team that hits like SV. SV is also very fast on defense and will be able to slow down the Jay attack. 265a shows it's strength in this one and wins
SV 35 - 21

After that, I see Judson winning Region 3 but going down then.

Madison and SV will meet again in the 5a Division II regional finals and SV will win again. They too will go out in the next round.

Still a very good showing for 265a when most thought the district was down. The district is stronger from top to bottom (even Lee) and each week is a battle in district play. Might not have a team that can win it all but you never know. We'll have two teams in the semi's and this district will have both teams ready.
Good luck 265a!

Doesn't matter who comes out of Region 4 they will get beat by either north shore or westfield, But lets face it Clemens would not have beaten Judson and clemens may have finished 5th or 6th in 265a behind Reagan and Churchill so the buffs were over rated this year just like seguin was and san marcos, I saw the game last night judson vs seguin and seguin's offense look like a jv team compared to judson's defense , seguin had a total of 117yds offense and 7 first downs and if I recall seguin gave the buffs all they could handle. Sorry but the buffs would get beat if they played judson , henry or no henry..........26 5a just too strong for 25 5a.............

I'm not conceding anything to Region 3 in either bracket. They will have good teams waiting for us, but we can win both games.

Sweet heart, I'm talking about if you didn't have him on your team this year! I know that Madison has a lot of talent and will find a replacement for him next year. The fact of the matter is, he makes your offense click. If he was not there this year, other teams would Key the other two and be able to keep them in check without much problem. Just look at what Churchill did with Fanuzzi and without!

With or without Henry, I think not! If we played CJ in the middle of the season with a healthy Henry while ya'll had so many starters out (ala Churchill), we would have won handily. If we played them the last two games of district, different story!

As far as being over-rated, BS! We were the best team in the area until we lost an all-american running back. This is not an excuse for getting blown out Friday night, it is a fact. There is no team that could lose a player like James Henry and be the same after! Yes, we have several other good running backs, but they're not 6'1" and 215 lbs and can move like he can! When you have a player who can run people over to get an extra 3-4 yards after he is hit or take it to the house on the smallest of crease, he is a game changer on any level.

As far as Seguin giving us all we could handle, give me a damn break. That game was never in question from the start. Judson did not wipe the floor with them Friday night as you want to make it seem. Remember it was 7-0 at the half and Seguin's D did a damn good job in that game. Had Seguin capatalized on that T.O. deep in CJ territory, it would have been 7-7 and the tide could have easily turned in that game. If Seguin had an offense to match their D, they would be dangerous for anyone to play. Once again, Congratulations on a good win over a pretty good Seguin team and also on the dreaded sweep of 25-5a!

Finally, I'm very happy to see that CJ has recovered from their mid-season slump and gone back to the game they play best (lining up and smashing people in the mouth). I'm even happier to see that some of your, trash talking, band wagon fans are now off of Rackley's A$$ and not calling for his and his staff's heads! He is a great coach and even better man that deserves a little more than what he received from a bunch of people on this board earlier in the year!

Celebrating all night and workin' all day...life is good...for now. If there's one constant for Madison over the past 25 years, it's the lack of consistency (except a few years there in the 90's when they were consistently BAD). Here hoping I'll be a tried Maverick for weeks to come! :D

All I can say to that is if they continue to play at or near the level they did Friday, you are going to be making a couple of long drives to watch them win the region and maybe more!

Ol' boy is feisty. I can deal with that. I ate my crow last year, but it didn't keep me quiet or from firing back.
