I went back to look at various weeks and whether or not teams drop or rise in close wins. The Coaches Poll is usually pretty consistent about moving teams up if they win regardless of score. The AP runs on the whim of the voters who want to be impressed.

There is no true rhyme or reason why teams drop. They will sometimes drop a SEC team for playing bad, but generally don't do so. They pick and choose who they want to punish in most conferences, but they were consistent on being harsh with the Big 12. Texas, Nebraska, Tech, and OU aren't immune to that treatment. They dropped Texas out of the Top 25 one time for a 28-14 win over Colorado. Sometimes one team will drop for a close win and another the same week moves up.

That is what you get when you have people voting. They bring in their opinions and bias. The only way a true National Champion is going to be crowned is to have a playoff system. Every other level of College Football has a playoff system but it is too difficult for D1A as a whole...or is it really about the money?

It's about keeping money in a small pile of teams from 6 conferences. As long as there is no playoff, the rich will keep getting richer. I'm on both sides of the fence. I root for a have, for a team that might one day be a have, and for a team that will probably never be a have again.

You'll still have human opinion that goes into who makes the playoffs, but at least you'd play the games on the field.
