11/11....I know we have past and present military personnel who read this site and I'd like to thank you all for the service you've provided this country. Thanks for keeping us safe enough so that we may enjoy things often taken for granted such as basic freedoms and the greatness that is Texas high school football. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed.
Thank You Veterans!

Feels good to have done my part. Due to past situations I always try and remind people to think of our service men and women around the holidays. None of us would be where we are if it weren't for past military service.

Thanx...
To the many who have died, so that I may have the right to do what I have done, and will do. I always think of the past wars, and the women and men who bravely fought in them. And of the servicemen who put their lives at risk, day in and day out, to assure my freedoms! They're all true hereos!
Isn't this a great country, or what?!!! (rhetorical)
Love you America,

I am a 5A Football Alum and a 6 year vet. I appreciate the thanks and recognition on behalf of my other brothers that arent here anymore to recieve it. There is no place like the USA, and definitely no place like the great state of Texas to call home. I would be happy to do it all again. God Bless Texas and the United Stated States. Go Sandies!

The heros are not on the football field. They are the ones who have served our country so that we may have the priviledge to attend this weeks games. Many never made it home. They laid down their lives so that democracy shall not perish. Thank you for all that you've done, and thank you to the current veterans that continue to fight terrorism in Iraq and the rest of the world.

I am so PROUD of my Brother (20 Years) and Sister (16 Years) both with several tours overseas in harms way and away from their families. My father for the sacrifices he made in Vietnam also my Uncle Gary "Retired" (20 Plus Years), my Father-in-law who served in WWII and his brother who was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. My time in the military helped shape me into the man I am today and too many cousins and friends to name who have taken time out of their lives to provide you and me with the freedoms we enjoy each and every day.
If you love living in this country and understand that it is GREAT today because of these and all the soldiers of the past, present and future find them today and give them a simple "Thank You." Regardless if you agree with where we are today - they protect you every minute of every day.
I say "THANK YOU" to all of you and I love you all!!

Indeed we should than out lucky stars everyday that here are men and women, who are willing to lay their lives on the line for people that they don't or may never know. Having many family members that have served in the past as well as are serving now I will forever support the men and women of our Armed Forces.

Yeah...I gotta give it up to the folks in my family that came before me.
My Grandfather who served in WWII...he passed in 1960 and I never met him...
My Uncle Riley who was Staff Sgt. in the Army and passed in 1970...
My Dad ..who is a Vietnam vet...and the most squared away Marine I have ever met in my life. Hoo-rah Devil Dog...
To all the Marines that served with my Dad in Chu Lai,South Vietnam and lost their lives...
To Petty Officer Powell who died onboard the USS Cole ....my homeboy forever...
To Petty Officer Melissa Barnes who died at the Pentagon September 11, 2001...a good friend and a good shipmate...you are not forgotten.

I have no clue why old high beat rider and even fewer clues as to why Aledo beat them...I do know Rider is raving about next season, but they were flying high this year and came crashing down

It is a thread designed...by an admin mind you....to honor those who have served...a place to give thanks to friends or family...or just anybody that has served our country...Not a thread to have meaningless chitter-chatter.
That's what is wrong with the world now....No respect...

there we go thats the ultimate problem solver..a quiz off..im sure that'll fix EVERYTHING, because when they lose they'll suddenly understand the problem, lets not hijack this thread alright guys?
this thread means something to everybody in the us...be it reconizing the veterans, or the veterans recalling their past and what made them feel good by helping us all, so lets not fight, but just say thank you, if you guys want to fight go to the PM or go to a diff thread

Dear Dad,
A day late as usual, but you know I don't have your discipline; that's why I only lasted two enlistments. Your birth in 1926 placed you in an unusual time in American history.
You followed your older brothers into the US military in 1943 at the age of 17 and you were deployed to Europe. With the losses you and the family endured it is difficult for me to understand how you stayed in the Army. Not why, just how.
Thank you for 30 years of service. Thank you for your service in Europe, Korea, and Vietnam. I know there are others who did the same; and that's what makes you all the greatest part of the greatest generation.

Thanks KT2000. I just spent the entire weekend in Fort Pierce, Florida at the UDT/SEAL museum. Every year we have a big get together and show at the museum. It's a great time. I met a man (from Tx) that was one of 4 UDT/Frogs that swam into Tokyo Bay about a week before the official surrender.
Today (Sunday) I was one of 6 other UDT/SEALS that swam the ashes of former Navy men out to sea. Big "Honor" to do that.
It was a great weekend to be a "vet" and be surrounded by many great Vets from WWII to the present.

Sounds awesome Frog...
I actually met Rudy at Jillian's in Norfolk once...right after he did Survivor...pretty cool guy...
And I also had the pleasure of meeting Master Diver Carl Brashear at PSD Norfolk right before the movie "Men of Honor" opened nationwide...
Sounds like a great ceremony...glad you got to participate.

Rudy is a great guy. I still call him Master Chief. I used to get up every Saturday and go to the base gym at Little Creek and he would be in there working out like a dog. People dont realize that he was a Master Chief for like 34 years. Ya, Master Chief for that long on active-duty.
