even though he is young will coach dodge play his son in the playoffs at QB i know will see him at wide out or rb but will he still get that 3rd rep?
dragonfootballfan
11-10-2005, 05:54 PM
my guess is yes. But if you remember correctly he gets the third series and then if there ever is garbage time, not every third series

can he handle the pressure, i know hes our guy next year but will he give us that boost he gave us in district?

There is no doubt Riley can handle the pressure...when you play for SLC I honestly think they are so well coached and prepared that there is no pressure. The real question should be can Riley handle some of the top teams in the state...SLC wasnt exactly tested defensively at all this year...Teams get better in the playoffs and subsequently so do the defenses

How come Southlake Carroll don't have a FB? is it because they have more wide reciever to use. I was thinking Southlake Carroll last year was playing like a "College Ball" which is pretty impressive and they still are.

That question can only be handled on the field. Can he? Probably? Wil he? Nobody knows except the man upstairs and he ain't telling.

If he is not the starting QB, then the coach is short changing the starter by putting in his son. Coach will prolly do it pad his sons numbers so when colleges start looking at him, he'll look even better..
That's crappy.

I'm obviously from nowhere near SLC and I can tell that it has nothing to do with his son. It has to do with reps for the future two year starter, it has to do with a "change of pace" type situation, and it forces teams to prepare for two different quarterbacks. So please stop with that father-son stuff.

well first of all coach dodge wouldnt do that and riley could start for most teams in this state as a soph

yes of course, carroll needs some superior speed on offense, who knows how fit newton will be. and this two QB system has worked all year so if i were coach dodge, give riley reps.

I know that you see him everyday, but that does not make you any more qualified to predict his height without measuring him than someone else

ok. It is still just an estimate. It doesn't matter. I will not argue about it anymore. It makes no difference

Ya I just wish that Carroll could have gotten Tre some more in game reps before the playoffs started. The playoffs are a different game and that experience would have helped tremendously

well they didnt want to overwork him either, they wanted to ease him back into the game and see how he responded.

as do i, but maybe this rest will benifit him more than we think? look at tampa bays rb cadalic williams, he was awesome, but they gave him to many reps and bam, keeping tre fresh will benift IMO, his speed is insane, plus it gives moorefield a little more confidence with the extra playing time

yeah but cadillac is paid so he has to go out there, tre is only a sophmore, he doesnt want to jeopardize his career

I don't think the comparison to Caddillac Williams is valid because he was Tampa's only offensive weapon. Tre would have been in the game for probably 2/3 of the offensive plays and would have gotten like 15-20 carries. I don't think moorefield confidence was boosted by putting in a sophomore back up quarterback that has never played RB before because he was not getting the job done

hmm good point, the more i read what i said the more it doesnt make sense, thanks for pointing that out! so will riley and tre' switch around, or is it tre' is in untill he needs a break type deal?

I have no idea. I would guess that Tre would get most of the snaps and would rotate with Moorefield. If for some reason Tre cannot go then Riley would rotate with Moorefield.

i think tre will start and riley will come in whenever dodge chooses to. moorefield i think will some carries, but only during tre's breaks.

No I think he will come in situations where the defense will blitz. The only thing that I think that he can do better than Tre or Riley is blitz pick up. I think he will be in for 3rd and 6 or more and maybe some second down situations. I think that Newton is a much better short yardage back

Moorefield is a big back and when people see him they immediately think he would be good in short yardage. The problem is that he is not that athletic and lacks the speed and jumping ability to either bounce the ball outside or jump over a pile in short yardage situations. He is not suited for the shotgun where he starts flatfooted and gets the ball 5 yards behind the LOS. He needs to get a runnning start and get moving and get the ball a couple yards before he reaches the lineman

I think that he would make a great fullback. He blocks really well and has pretty good size.

I don't know if he has a future in a major football school. He is pretty slow to play a skill position at the next level, but is too short to play tight end or on the line.

most kids don't go on to play football after high school. The kid has still played more and gotten more opportunities than most other kids ever will. I also think that most kids would rather back up a winner than star on a team with no fan support and wins a couple games a year.

i guess your right, theirs things they can pick up from not even playing, the friends they'll make, the work ethic they can learn, the integrity, all the stuff that goes beyond the game itself

You guys must be tired. One of you said RD was 5'11", and the other said he was not that tall. then you said you see him in the hallway and he is 2 inches taller than you and you are 5'9". That's pretty close to 5'11" where I come from. Get some rest.
By the way, did you notice that in the Richalnd game RD didn't come in for the 3rd series at QB like he always has???? He came in at RB and in the slot. but not at QB until 2nd half. Could that be a prediction for the post season??

I think you've nailed it DB......Doubt if we'll see the the 3rd series QB switch in the playoffs. Expect Riley to get his reps at RB and slot receiver from now on.
