I play and I have a social life. I just game when I have nothing else to do basically. I was kinda suckered into playing though. If left alone I'll play all nite like that too. But coming into work looking like I've been up drinking all nite looks bad so I dont stay up all nite gaming too often.

Usually when girlfriend gets out of school and comes home she'll study for a few hours and I'll game while she does that. She encourages it when she's studying. :cool:

well, it all depends on how you look at it. Anymore I only do the battlegrounds with my druid. I have pretty much abandoned playing my other toons as there just isnt enough time for all that. I try to play at least one battle ground each nite. and that gives me a chance to talk with the fellas that got me hooked into WoW in the first place.

Your friend obviously knows what hes talking about, mr.t and William Shatner both play the commercial shows how informed they are. Or maybe endorsing a game to get a few bucks here and there looked like a good idea.

its a mmo your free to do what you want its no different than Grand theft auto, you have option to do story, or not to. The game has a main story and other aspects.

Its no different than any other online game its always changing and evolving so the fun factor is always different vs a console game where when you beat game. Hey guess what its different the next 10000 times...

i dont play GTA. thats why i love sport games. cuz you can keep building up your team, or sign with another team. and usually after i get bored beating one of my other non sporting games, it is usually about that time when a new game comes out that i want to buy.

No really, I mean I understand basically what his problem is. He has to have soemthing to talk about. Meaning, he needs to be able to tell people how he "beat" a game. Some people are like that. I'm the exception. I dont make craploads of money, I drive an oldish car, and I share a house with a guy from work. But this is the life I chose. So I guess still, who is the dumb one.

While I see your point on this WoW is also the only game I have ever heard of making wealthy mean quit their job and move back in with their parents.I saw an interview with a guy that did this and he said "If everything in WoW is good then everything in my life is good"......ponder that for a while

my roommate plays every night, or almost every night with some people from 8 pm to 1 am. they are all level 70s and their battles with these monsters take like 15 minutes. i think he is a healer. i have never played the game myself, but i like starcraft alot. starcraft 2 comes out in december i think

you're right. Life is filled with stuff much worse than that. at times...

really though, WoW is not for everyone. Hell, games are not for everyone. I only play that game. other than old school Atari stuff I've never been into it too much. WoW is not like other games to me. And while I see no point to playing it, it amuses me when I'm bored.

And yeah, there are people that take it way way overboard. But then, there are people that do that same thing with other stuff. Like eating. smoking. drinking. pick something.

My own personal theory on people that become so absorbed into WoW that they cannot think normal is that they are unhappy with their life and they are trying to escape. And it's easy to get into it and be away from other stuff. Kinda odd really. I know the last few months of my last marriage I was pretty absorbed into WoW because it was easier to hide out in my office and game than what it was to argue. I guess the reasons for some people getting too far off into are different for different people. I've had people tell me I'm addicted to it and I dont think I am. Tonite was the first time I've really sat down and played it in over 2 weeks. I figure it's the same as not having anything to do watching TV or something.

I've got a couple of drinks in me now and wanna be Dr.Phil. sorry.

I here that when the wife is on a rampage I just go pop in the Halo 3 disk put the headset on and pwn some poor sap that gets matched against me. May good have mercy on their souls but its better them than me dealing with the wraith of an angry woman

less than 19 in PvE gear is pointless. Some friends and I started a group of gnomes and we did everything nude until we hit 19 and started doing PvP.

Low level gear is basically useless. But if you still want it, find a leatherworker.

Yeah. Naked Gnome Society. It was great. Gnomes are kinda creepy little buggers anyway. So we had the group. We all went and did everything as a pack and we were all nude. It was big fun while it lasted.
My little naked Warlock "Snow" would stand back and melt face while the rest of the naked ones beat up whatever it happened to be we were fighting.

We still will once in a while go into battle grounds as a group and fight naked. We rarely win like that, but it makes for something to laugh about.

If you aren't into WoW, why the interest in naked Gnomes? do you have a midget fetish you need to talk about? :eek:

RPGs do have end points, it just takes a while for most people to get there. I say most people because there is always a Chinese farmer out there who can do it in 20 minutes.

NCAA is the game. hands down. WoW is just, wow i guess. it's just pointless. and it's sad how people get addicted to it

what's the difference, in NCAA don't you modify your uniform? don't you play each time to go out and destroy your opponent to unlock new parts of the game? only difference is your RB is probably named after you and not some elf named Tortuga

server maintenance. It's from like 7am-1pm our time. or something like that. they are usually back up around 1pm, I do know that. Any server that runs that much and handles that much traffic has to come down here and there. They do it weekly to prevent problems and fix anything that may come up. No biggie really. Unless you're an addict. Then it's death or something.

I tried to play WoW before I started playing it on my own on a friends 70 Huntard and I hated it. There was too much I didnt know or understand about the character and game. I got passed all that when I started playing and leveled my own toon up. A priest is a little bit of a different toon to play and really would be if you've never played one before. I think any of them would be.

Actually there is a useful point. They have arena battles that have a cash payout. I think several thousand $'s. not enough to retire on, but you could make an easy stash of dosh from it if you were good enough.

For me though, the point is playing. I win the game a lot and I lose it a lot too. It's just a series of varying battles of various sorts with various people. expect the unexpected.

Again though, it's not a game for everyone.

It has a lot to do with the fact that it is a fantasy RPG where you have to pay $15 a month on top of the price of the game. Two years of WoW with the expansions is over $400. That is a lot of money just to play a game.

First I want to say that I am not saying I agree with calling people who play WoW nerds because I know plenty of people who do and have normal social lives.

But what other games have fee's for Xbox? There are games that have extra downloadable content but you don't have to buy the content to play the game. You actually don't even have to have an Xbox live account to play the games, only to play them online. The fundamental reason I don't play WoW is that I won't pay monthly for a game that I already paid for.
