Isn't it funny that every team in SLC from Pop Warner to Senior High is the Dragon.
It sounds like SLC has an identity problem, maybe they are too busy trying to be like the folks from Plano, Irving or Longview and I don't mean the football team.
It's actually kind of creepy when you think about it almost cult like. Everyones a dragon kinda like George Forman naming all his kids George.
Maybe there is some kind of laboratory where the kids are brainwashed so they are a robot like Dragon worshiper like the Valley of the Dolls or Stepford Wives kinda crap.
I mean what happens when two Jr. Highs play is it the Dragons vs. Dragons. I mean come on people I am for School Spirit, but be origional, or maybe you are trying to hard to be origional by naming all your teams Dragons.

I have seen two Jr. Highs do it here, but never the pop warner teams. Most of the time, they are named after NFL teams. Colts, Eagles, etc. I was just wondering how they knew which was which when it was Dragons vs. Dragons.

They obviously have different colors. One team will be white the other green.
ps Change your sig. I never said the last part that you quote me as saying. Just move the Quotation marks

WOW, I thought it got heated between the Katy/Strake faithful!
One of the two feeder schools for Katy (Katy Jr. High) is also red/white with the Tiger as a mascot. But what ya'll are saying about SLC is either 'unique' or 'unusual' depending on which side of the fence you're on.

Longview
I know we don't do that.
I can't tell you how many different mascots the Elementary schools have. The 3 middle schools are the Foster Dragons, Judson Blue Devils (oo yea), and Forest Park Eagles.
Only one of them is green and yellow..and thats Forest Park.
Then after middle school obviously we go to the High School and then we all become Lobos :)

The way I see this is; that this is another example of 'excellence'. Southlake are obviously inculcating the Dragon tradition from the day the student takes their first step into elementary school. This immediately gives the student, boy or girl, the identity and ambition to be a "Dragon" - Play for the "big team" - as Andre Ware said in the ESPN commentary of 2004 (SLV vs DR) televised game. I have been to Southlake and you see little Dragons everywhere, with players’ names and numbers on the back of replica football jerseys, even babys with Dragon bibs. I have never been to a place where so many cars have their school’s bumper sticker – That Texas/Dragon logo is everywhere. I have also read that Coach Dodge has installed the SLC play book into all sub-varsity teams, so that the transition to the varsity team is a seamless process. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that SLC are not just one season wonders, but now a perennial powerhouse of Texas 5A. I have a feeling there is a production line in of high school footballers in Southlake, ready to step up to varsity next season and season after.

You Plano folks obsess over SLC even more than us Lufkin and Abilene fans do. And we have lost to them in the state semis two out of the last three years. What did they do to get you boys so fired up? At least we have a reason.

Is "Longview" the only high school in Longview? I figured Longview was big enough to have 2 or 3 high schools right around Longview proper.

I like how no one but Katy has been able to beat us so every week some lame new thread gets started desperately trying to find some aspect of the program to hate on: be it bleached hair, stickers on the helmet, etc
Well guess what folks: obvoiusly something is working for SLC. Maybe these whiners should start taking notes instead of searching for things to fault.

There are three other high schools in Longview, Pine Tree High School, Springhill High School and Longview Christian Academy

Katy Youth Football uses all NFL teams, but the new Houston Youth Football in Katy copies the Jr. Highs. The scary thing there is they have better uniforms and equipment than the Jr. Highs.

yeah, this is a better thread. i don't even want to know what mental perambulations were required to produce this thought. i wish you could be as excited about the wildcat success as i am, and let the rest go, but what do i know. beat desoto. btw, plano played desoto in the po's in 66 i seem to remember. they may have been the south zone champ in our district.

Of all the things I think about saying concerning the Dragons, the schools all having a dragon mascot is at the bottom of the list. I think it's cool having all the different dragons and I even look for the school signs!

It is interesting to be the anouncer at the "Dragon Bowl" when the two middle schools in Southlake play each other. The two schools are Dawson and Carroll Middle Schools. I have to be carefull not to say "It a Dragon First Down!" because both teams are Dragons. I usally say "First Down Dawson" or "First down Carroll". It is also hard not to say "Carroll Dragons" because that implies the High School Team to most.
All in all the Dragon Bowl is great fun as it is played at Dragon Stadium and both Middle Schools bring their bands and it becomes a source of "bragging rights" in Southlake. It is its own mini smalltown "Tuesday Night Lights".
If this is a bad thing then I hope things stay bad!

Yeah, we have the same event here, except the middle schools are Cunningham Wildcats & North Shore Mustangs. And after everyone grows out of little league and goes to middle school they become bitter rivals for two years. and then everyone is a Mustang.

Wildcat Fan - Please do not judge the book from the cover. We moved from West Side of Plano to SLC a few years ago and would prefer to never move back to Plano.
The SLC community is a paradise when compared to Plano (and Plano is one of the best places to live in the US).

yep that is true. we found a subdivision in keller, right by terry bradshaws house to be exact, and my parents liked it, but the problem was the schools werent ranked as high as my parents wanted them, they liked how the slc schools were hihgly ranked etc etc, the sports aspect of it was 2nd, now this is not true for everyone, it is for most, the education is a main reason for most
