I wanted to add one on pep rallies because it seems - at some schools at least - that they are a dying breed or at least not at the level they used to be. I've been to a couple at Cy Falls and they can't touch those we used to have. You didn't have to force kids to go to pep rallies at my school - it was something that everyone WANTED to go to. The place was always packed to the rafters and we left there ready for that game!!
Just wondering how many still have these sort of pep rallies - the ones that leave you with such spirit and excitement and just makes you feel so proud to be an Eagle, Bear, Tiger, Mongoose, Panther, Bobcat, Ram, Cougar, Goat (I love Groesbeck), etc.

I think you could either go to the pep rally: or actually attend class.

Man none of yall have school spirit at yall's pep rallies! It is expected to be as loud and crazy as you can at the Abilene High morning pep rallies!
Here's some videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YluMRU2wAl8 -Random pep rally, the skit the teachers did that day.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtXI5d1InrU -This one is from the Black Out Cooper pep rally, definitely the best one of the year!
I posted this on the other thread about pre-season pep rallies. No one has better pep rallies than Abilene High does. People not only WANT to attend but people get there at 6:30 for a pep rally that starts at 8:15!

I think we've had one pep rally at Falls in the past two years, not counting the weird Let's Have Homecoming Spread Over Three Weeks Or So adventure this year.
At all three high schools I attended, we had a pep rally for EVERY football game, along with the spirit ribbons and other accoutrements you don't see anymore.
And we wonder why kids have no spirit, no school identity anymore.

They are virtually non-existent at Falls and that's a shame. I remember some of the band kids complaining that they had to go to pep rallies back when my son was there. At my high school, the drum line met at the front of the school and marched throughout the halls picking up students and having them follow them to the gym for the pep rally - the things were always packed to the rafters - SRO and then some! It set the tone for the game and for the day - those, to this day, were some of my favorite days ever. We never went to playoffs when I was there (one team rule back then) but we usually one 7 or 8 games so it was exciting and fun. I just don't get not having these things anymore - maybe it's the change of the times

Yes I can. That was the best idea ever. I am not sure who on the drumline came up with it or if the band director did but it was amazing!!!!
I think you can still see the marks on the driveway up to the bandhall where they spraypainted their masks.

At Cy-Woods, the pep rallies were very well attended because they were in the cafeteria which is what the school is focused around, and they were at 710 am which is when all the kids would start arriving for school. Since I was in the band, I had to go to them. I didn't mind so much, but I just wish they were later on in the day (6th periodish), so that everyone would be awake. But at least we had one every week!

I've always wanted to ask this question of someone who attended the victory over skyline.
How did you guys do it? How did you guys beat Skyline?

I can't say I attended this game. I graduated in 09 and I'm at school at Tech right now. My parents didn't give me the chance to make the drive to Waco on the ice, and then to Cypress the next week. But my guess is that we were burned out and were just overpowered by the obviously better sTp tigers.

Thanks for finding that video it brought back some good memories of that pep rally.
It was one of the best things that the drumline ever did during my time at Trinity.

That's the number the band plays when the opposition is on the goal line. It lacks that certain volume that comes when you include the Brass section. I'd rather a round of Tuba blasting myself

Really you played the trombone too? Awesome! Yeah I used to be pretty good but I haven't touched it in like a year so I would sound like crap if I started playing it now.

Our boy we raised till he his fifth birthday before his parents took him back because they just wanted him back. He's 9 now and he tells me he wants to play the Trombone because that's the instrument I played. I told him he should play the instrument he wants to play.

If he wants to play trombone let him play it. But it is good that you told him to play what he wants to play so he doesn't think that you want him to play trombone.

At eight he's too early to be weighing 140lbs. I didn't weigh that much till I was 12. And I was considered heavy
Trojanalum693

Wow. Yeah he needs to lose some weight. That can be unhealthy for him.
