Elroy's last name was Hirsch.

"Night Train" was a DB.

Wrong. Hirsch was a running back and receiver from Wisconsin. He might have played some DB in high school but he made his fame as a running back/receiver.

Well, back in those days, you played both ways and on special teams. Doak Walker was a running back, defensive back, kicker, kick returner, and punt returner. He is one of the few people to have stats in every single category.

Dick "Night Train" Lane was probably a running back but he is in the Hall as a DB. The guy was an interception machine. Too bad he passed away penniless and forgotten as a transient.

That's an understatement. Something like 14 interceptions as a rookie in the NFL. Still a record I believe.

LOL..True that. Wow I forgot about that. He was also the master of the clothesline tackle which the NFL banned after he took a few guys out of the game. He was a beast. I think he and Chuck Bednarik that played for the Eagles (another 2 way player) had to be two of the meanest sum*****es that ever played in the NFL.

Like I said...too bad he died penniless and forgotten. He revolutionized the game. He was like Jim Brown. His size, speed, and agressiveness were decades ahead of everyone else.

I think that's still the record. An Oiler had 13 one season, but I can't for the life of me remember who. The sports folks compared him to Night Train all the time though.
