I like your analysis, but I disagree with this being Carroll's strongest defense entering the playoffs since the move to 5A. In 2002 Carroll averaged a defensive touchdown a game and held opponents to ten points a game. This year Carroll is allowing 15 points a game and is not forcing near as many turnovers.

I think Lufkin is a safe pick for a favorite in region 2. However the difference in the Lview/Lufkin game this year(assuming it happens) will be all the players Longview has returning from last year's heartbreaker. Noone really mentions it but these guys are going to surprise everyone this year. These guys have something to prove. Not trying to start LP/Lview thread just commenting on the region analysis.

The analysis was great and on the mark however, the folks down in pearland will have to disagree. There's a rumor going around that they're kick USC's a** in the rose bowl. :D :D

I thought that team gave up 16 points per game...that was just off of memory, but I will double check that now that you mentioned it. Of course, there's a very good chance you would know better than I. ;) I was just trying to give your guys some much deserved respect.

KTChamp97, I can't read the darkhourse analysis in the D2 region 2 post. Also, why didn't you and KT2000 pick the D1 and D2 champ or did I miss something?

Ok, I think I squashed that little bug...try looking at it again.

We've had SLC #1 and Westfield #2 since May, and those are still our favorites to win it all.

Top seven teams from the pre-season poll have held up surprisingly well. SLC, Westfield, Katy, Smithson Valley, Trinity, Longview, Lufkin.

Their combined record right now is 65-2. Trinity and SV each have one loss, and the rest are undefeated.

#9 is going to make some noise. Watch out for Engine #9! I think I can! I think I can! No, that was Love Potion #9! :D

Anyway, Your top teams did do well this year.

#9 is going to make the state semis, but I'm afraid there won't be much of a reward waiting on them based on the quality of team likely to win Region 3.

Except for picking O'Connor in R4-D1 (don't know why), my picks are roughly the same. The bad news - I sucked in last years contest. :o

I figured you'd say that. My hope is that the reverse of last year's history happens this year.

Will we get a new analysis as the playoffs progress? It might be nice to get some new insight after this weekend's upsets.

Maybe they should've had me do it since I beat the KT's by 2 games! :p

Then again, my bracket is crap since Longview got beat.

Nah, no need to bother...who would read it since it is so uninsightful anyway? I mean, only 7 of our 8 picks to win their region are still alive.

Maybe we'll give it another shot this week. I'm not sure what it will mean after picking 80% of the Div. I games correctly and 81% of the Div. II games correctly, but we might try anyway. Oh and I might point out a few games that have high upset potential like I did with SG-Longview, Plano-Desoto, Madison-Clemens, DR-SGP, and Pflugerville-Westlake.

I wasn't dissin' your picks...you got a good percentage...
I couldn't follow your reasoning on Clemens though (when compared with your observation of the other Madison [Houston]).

Region 3 Darkhorse: 'less battle-tested...due to residing in a very weak district'
Region 4 Contender: '...are still one of the best teams in the state'

Well, those two statements have nothing to do with one another. In talking about Houston Madison being less battle-tested, that was relative to the other teams in that particular region. In talking about Clemens, we thought they were still a very good team even without Henry...it just turned out that SA Madison was even better.

Take North Shore for example...they are not real battle-tested, but that didn't seem to matter against Pearland, did it? You can be untested and still be really damn good. That's what we wrongly thought about Clemens. Houston Madison had a great record, but we knew better.

BTW, in my own personal picks...I did pick SA Madison to win, both on the board and on my Bracketmaker selections. :)

Champ, you fell for the bait. He wanted to pull your chain, but mainly because the other guy asked if you were going to say something else to replace what didn't work last week. I like messing with you guys, too. That's why I said I outpicked you by 2. :D

I know how it is because people complain when I say something, let me know when I was wrong, but rarely when I'm right. In almost no cases do the people who disagree go ahead and give their opinions on all the things I say. They just focus on the one aspect they want to complain about.

OK, I thought it was great and better than last week (which was good) because you said something about all the teams. We only disagree on 3 games.
