A buddy of mine who is a 19-year TX high school football coach recently attended the Dallas Nike Combine after his son received an invite. He said it left much to be desired.
For example, he said the guys they had running the watches, weigh-in, and measure, etc. left much to be desired, or that "they had no business being there, expecially with a name like Nike as a sponsor." He also mentioned that many of the coaches who were there spent most of their time catching up and chumming around rather than evaluating talent. He along with other parents of athletes spent good money to attend this event after being invited, and the consensus was (among parents he talked to) that it amounted to a money making scheme at the expense of the athletes and their parents.
Is my buddy simply a man scorned because his boy did not get that D1 offer, or is there some merit to his claims? Chime in if you know anything about this combine. Thanks!
