Katy has team speed on campus right now on par with any past Tiger squads in my opinion. Talent wise, they are very strong as well. The only real ? is linebacker, but that is more due to inexperience than lack of talent. Personnel wise, the 2005 Tigers resemble the 99-2000 classes much more than they do the 2001-2004 groups. That won't guarantee any on-field results, but it is a good indicator of what is on campus.

Justin Drabek doesn't have his brother's size or fastball. A 5-foot-10, 160-pound righthander, he throws in the mid-80s. He also has a so-so breaking ball that has its moments.

If there is a school I know something about it is Westfield. I predicted the sound whipping they gave judson in the reg season 2 years ago and the same for the playoffs.

The mustangs have always had talent but never did anyhting with the talent. Last year may be a break through season but I doubt it.

Ya, I see they are already ranked in the Preseason poll. I do think they will end up alot higher when the season starts rolling. I think they have a ton of very solid underclassmen on the team.

3. Lufkin ( Never lacking in athletes, should make a run like always)

he is taking a chance considering he has a shot at being a top 5 pick in the mlb draft. we are talking some big signing bonuses there. lufkin craig whitaker was like 18th?? a few years back and even he got a million dollars when he signed with the giants. imagine being a top 5 pick?? it is a little risky. by the way, when lufkin upset the woodlands at home this year in baseball i said hi to his dad doug when he walked by me. that guy is a lot bigger then he looked playing for the pirates and astros. big barrell chested dude.

Man, all you guys continue to underestimate Smithson Valley even after all they've done the past 4 years??? Last year was supposed to be a "rebuilding year" where we were ranked #25 in pre-season on this site and look what happened. Do you really think they are not a Top 25 team this year???

I love how good ole scooter still refuses to give SV their props; must still be steaming from the @ss kickings Port Arthur suffered at the hands of the Rangers.

Other than QB (which will be filled by Coach Hill's son, Junior, Brian Hill) the Rangers have all their key skills players back on offense from last year(Beyer & Fuller at WR, Srs. McKinney and Shrock at RB and Soph. Rios who will be the best RB in SV history by the time he graduates) The O-Line is MUCH bigger than last year and the defense lost very few key guys other than Pawelek. Still have an awesome LB corp and secondary.

SV should be there in the big hunt again. They just need to replace the QB-Baily. That kid was a nice scrappy old school style of QB (tough as nails). If they can replace that kid they should be in the hunt.
