GPISD Stadium
It just gives you that pro-like feeling with the instant replays and the tv's in th e consession lines and its brand new so it really kool. But at the same time i like playing in the old fashioned old school fields too.

Kimbrough Field in Murphy is a great place to host playoff games... And I have a special place in my heart for Texas Stadium, most people dont like it, but i've always enjoyed watching games there.

No doubt the best field I ever played on was against SLC last year at Floyd Casey Stadium there reply screen is bigger then my dorm room up here at SFA.

The Alamodome is a great venue. Some of the best playoff games I've seen were in the Astrodome. RRISD stadium is a great place to play and see a game as well.

I have never really liked Kyle Field For playoff games b/c they never open the second deck and dont allow people to sit in the zone. In the south endzone the stands extend (on the sideline) to about 15 yards behind the endzone and they rope off the northendzone seating at the goal line. For a big game, I've seen it difficult for people to find a seat, even a 3A playoff game a few years ago between Burnett and Jasper filled up the bottom deck. Also I've heard a few complaints from those that are forced to sit in seats with less than perfect views of the field for a high school game. You cannot see a thing past the 20 when sitting in the stands that extend past the endzone. To me a Floyd Casey or DKR is much better b/c of the large bottom deck. Kyle would be perfect if they opened up the second deck.

have alot of great memories at Texas Stadium. it helps that i had a connection that would get me sideline passes every year. nothin like gettin run over by a tongan linebacker.

The field might be ok at Texas Stadium. But the filth, stench, staff and cost of Jerry Jones nachos SUCKS!!

Without a doubt Floyd Casey - great angles, plenty big for Lufkin's tidal wave and good facility. Waco ISD is nice, but too small for large travelers. The one I'd love to play on I havent' seen would be Reliant. Have no desire to go to Texas Stadium. My least favorite is Rose in Tyler - fair stadium and horrendous traffic.

I like Bobcat Stadium in SM. When SV played Katy there a couple of years ago it was great. I cant say the same for the Alamodome.....you gotta have some weather to play a football game and a dome doesnt do it for me.

Best playing surface is the question.
The best surface I have seen the last couple of years is Baylor Floyd Casey, Abe Martin, Moorehead Stadium and Waco ISD.

It's easy to pick the playoff stadium that is nice, good surface, etc., but as far as playoff memories go, for me it's Ratliff Stadium in Odessa. As far as I know, only Plano has beaten Permian on their field, in the state semis, TWICE!!!! (1987 and 1994). Still remember the large crowd of Mojo fans sitting next to Plano fans on the visitor side................the 300 mi drive was worth it.........BOTH TIMES!!!!

Alamodome. They have some decent hamburgers there.
I've seen some good playoff games in the Astrodome but that place sucks for football. It was only good for baseball and monster truck shows.
Oh, and watching Evil Knievel break every bone in his body on a motorcycle.

Alamodome. Very good parking, lots of room, but not too big. Loud. Good re-play system when both are working. Loud. Makes you feel like your at a packed game, because the stands fill up good for the size. Lots of concession stands. Lots of pissers. Oh and its loud.

The sightlines for football at the Astrodome were horrendous, but the memories of the great games over the years will always be there. However, I like to be on top of the field, so any stadium without tracks.

I like Bobcat Stadium in SM. When SV played Katy there a couple of years ago it was great.
Unless they've built another locker room in the end zone that they will let the visitors in, that place is unacceptable. In 2002, they didn't even want SV in their new home locker room. Southwest Texas wasn't a good host, but maybe they've gotten better as Texas State. ;)
Floyd Casey is a great place to play and watch football, but Katy hasn't played there. I did go to Baylor though, so I saw plenty of games there back when it was Baylor Stadium. They've only made it better since the renaming.

Years ago I remember watching a game there (not sure what game) but I recall the platforms covering the baseball dugout gave way on the sidelines and several players found themselves peering as if from a foxhole.

Reliant Stadium is the best. It is well situated for football. Unlikely any playoff games will be there. We started there in week zero the last two years. It would be nice to have the DI and DII championship games there.

I often wonder why the colleges don't make themselves more available like Floyd Casey. I don't have first hand experience but from what I have heard it sounds like they really do it right in Waco and some of the other sites have not been so accomodating. Wouldn't it make sense to do it like Casey... would be a great recruiting tool.

UH's Robertson Stadium is ok. They need to upgrade the concession stands and the restrooms. But they've lowered the field and removed the track to add new seats. So now it seats about 40,000 or so. It has been getting some playoff use. Same goes for Rice. In fact the high school crowds are bigger than Rice's. But it seems now everyone gets to play in their home stadium. I liked it when it was all neutral field. Reliant is nice, but they're worried about the grass.

Kimbrough is an outstanding facility. One of the best in the state. But it would not work well beyond the first or second round because of it's size. Also, the county has the bond money but they are dragging their feet on widening Murphy Road which makes getting out of that Kimbrough a nightmare. They may be waiting for the completion of Parker Road construction.

I only have experience with a limited # of venues.
I love Texas Stadium. I really do. Its wonderful to watch the Allen Eagles play there and its wonderful to march in there and take up entire section with just the band. The game against the Longview Lobos was the first time I was ever in that stadium and it just seems surreal. I had no idea who that other team was, but I liked their mascot and their green jersies were pretty funky. I remember just looking around on the sidelines and wondering what I was doing in Texas Stadium. By the Lamar game my senior year it was standard fair though. It truely is a special place though.
Kimborough was nice. Allen vs Garland in a double OT thriller. It was REALLY windy that day. I like the layout and buses meant I didn't have to worry about traffic. Great atmosphere.
SFA's stadium was not so great. Klein Forrest chose it as a "neutral field" which got me kind of steamed, because they were much closer to it than us Metroplexers and I didn't see that as fair. I didn't like the stadium very much. The seating was not very good. Exciting game though.
One stadium in Tyler Texas(maybe Rose?) also was not fun, because Lufkin fans outnumbered Allen fans significantly this was also a "neutral field"...I remember just being in awe of all the purple poms shaking in the air. They had their side filled up before Allen fans started to arrive. The stadium was OK, but I didn't have much fun...Allen got clobbered.

I was at that game. It was a tremendous atmosphere. I sat on the Allen side. The stadium was jam-packed. Both sides were full. There were a few folks standing. And it was a great game to watch.

I think everybody likes Floyd Casey because it's like a High School Stadium on steroids...as a College stadium, it's pretty spare....that and the fact that the Dragons have had some great games there...with the LP Nation of course & winning State Championship # 3 there against Cuero in 93 is ok too...
