As some of you know, from time to time I do a few unusual things just for the fun of it. I like doubleheaders in different sports and locations or multiple events on consecutive days, etc. I keep lists of things I want to do and places I want to see and I'm almost done with Texas with there being things in only 9 towns left for me to do. When I sat down recently, I decided that there were still 10 Texas colleges that I wanted to see play football that I've never seen before. I'll see 2 of the 10 on Saturday when I go to North Texas-Tulsa and TCU-SFA.
What really got me was I counted 65 high school football teams (Mostly West Texas) that I want to see play. That's a lot of teams and would take a long time. At some point I said to myself that I needed to turn this gig into a rolling tour where I see several games in a day (And to work with my travel plans like Tech games in Lubbock, etc.) and the best bang for my buck is when 2 teams I want to watch play each other. I sat down tonight and checked out the schedule for tomorrow and Saturday (No good HS games on Saturday for me) to plan my viewing pleasure. I now present my most ambitious stunt yet that contains 8 teams that I want to see and other games just to make the stunt more fun. If I leave work late on Friday, I'll start in Petrolia. If I leave early enough, I'll start in Childress and work my way East. My goal is to see part of all these games in 1 night on Friday:
1. Alvord at Petrolia
2. Azle Christian School at Wichita Falls Christian School
3. Everman at Wichita Falls or Springtown at Wichita Falls Hirschi (Hirschi and Old High play in the same stadium and both are slated to be at home on the 5th)
4. Electra at Holliday
5. Perrin-Whitt at Wichita Falls City View
6. Argyle at Burkburnett
7. Guthrie at Harrold
8. Altus, OK at Vernon
9. Turkey Valley at Vernon Northside
10. Saint Jo at Chillicothe
11. Hamlin at Quanah
12. Iowa Park at Childress
All the games start at 7:30 P.M. The bolded teams are the ones I need to see play and the rest are just filler.
Future weeks will contain more multi-game nights, but probably not 12 in 1 night.
