They are playing "Right Now," a song forever linked in my mind to Crystal Pepsi. Bad linkage for people in my age bracket who vividly remembers Crystal Pepsi and the commercial.

Maybe it's an age thing, but what's "Crystal Pepsi"? I don't know where I was when that happened.

Dude, I loved Crystal Pepsi and I am one who can't stand any other Pepsi product. You couldn't get it in Abilene for the longest time, but we visited my grandparents in the Metroplex a couple of times a month when I was a kid and we would always stop at the Bar-B truck stop just past Ranger Hill. That was the first place between Abilene and DFW that sold Crystal Pepsi and I always had to have one.

BTW, I don't remember that song being associated with Crystal Pepsi. Every time I hear it, I remember the video. It sticks out in my mind for some reason...

That makes sense. My son was born in mid '91 and I couldn't take my eyes off him till he was four if I wanted the house in one piece. I missed a lot of the early nineties. :D

A couple of years earlier than that. Around '92 I think.

I was online today choosing stuff for the store and came across a pattern for embroidering quilt blocks for each of the 50 states with their state flowers on them. Cute, huh? Well, I had just looked at another pattern for a baby quilt.
Then I got to thinking...not a good thing when you are tired....and realized that on the day I was born....are you ready for this....there were only 48 States!
Free Association sometimes leads me into areas I'd rather not go.

Bro... Crystal pepsi was freaking weird.
It was like drinking something that was suppose to be brown, but it wasn't....it didn't feel right.

Jes.
Get back with me in about 12-14 months. If I am lucky I will remember this conversation and be about 80 lbs lighter. Closer to leather-wearing weight.

Crystal Pepsi sucked hard. Your cool level went down several notches. I can't believe you don't remember the Crystal Pepsi "Right Now" commercials, as well as the genius SNL send-up commercial for "Crystal Gravy."

I think it was a crappy choice in music. First because of Hagar, second because of the Crystal Pepsi link. Seriously, you gotta worry about a bunch that selects Van Hagar.

I didn't even notice the music...I listened to the speech....maybe you should have watched the event to gain substance instead of trying to be entertained.

Yesterday some (not all) Republicans on this board told me that convention speeches were supposed to be entertaining and rally the base and I shouldn't expect substance, so last night I expected to be entertained:
You are expecting way too much out of a Convention speech. Those are the types of questions that are best answered during debates and looking at her record. You have an hour to give a speech, giving the public the details is....well boring. you don't do a whole lot of public speaking... do you?
These are convention speeches. They're political pep rallies. You don't expect the head football coach to get up at the pep rally and detail how they're going to exploit the backside blitz or what play they want to go to on 3rd and 5 against a base cover 2, and you don't go into a political convention expecting the speakers to do anything more than fire up the troops. The troops don't get fired up hearing about business tax credits or economic diversification. You fire up the troops by make cracks about Styrofoam columns and tales of heroism.
Palin did exactly what she was supposed to do... she fired up a political base that viewed McCain to be about as exciting as 2% milk. The blue-haired Republicans were already fine with McCain, but Palin appealed to the younger side of the party who think McCain looks like an extra from a Murder She Wrote episode. The details will come on the campaign trail and at the debates.

Sarah Palin’s views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song ‘Barracuda’ no longer be used to promote her image
http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/09/05/heart-lash-out-at-mccain-campaigns-use-of-barracuda/
Last week, right before Republican presidential candidate John McCain introduced the world to his running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, in Dayton, Ohio, he strutted out to the sounds of Van Halen’s “Right Now.” A few hours later, Van Halen’s publicist told MTV News that the POTUS hopeful was never granted permission to use the track, and had permission been sought, it would never have been granted.

GREAT.....FANTASTIC......
The more that the Hollywood/entertainment elitists harrass this woman, the more they will push sympathy her way.....the libs will lose this election in spite of them holding the "change hammer" in their hands....
Can you spell "self destruct"....;)
