Naa, I found a good 4A board I might post at next season or I most likely just will not post anymore.

My favorite 5A teams will be Seguin and San Marcos though.

I use to think Lonny was a class individual. However, as of late, especially with that last remark about how Comfort will not help them prepare for a game, it shows what an arrogant person he is. How dare you sit back at your desk or wherever you are at and post something like that. You think scheduling in a non-realignment year is easy? What a moronic comment. With that kind of comment you not only slap the Steele coaching staff in the face, you slap all coaches everywhere in the face. How dare you make a comment like that to a new school full of new coaches and teachers.

And to top it off, he makes fun of Comfort but not one word was mentioned about beating the oh so mighty Madison Mavericks from the oh so wonderful and almighty 26-5A. If a school with only grades 9-11 that just opened can whoop up on your precious 26-5A football kings of Madison, then what does that say about tghe youth of 26-5A football?

And the Reagan Rattlers. The team that you nearly had a spiritual awakening after Judson beat them last week. What about their loss to Steele? Does that not qualify as a quality game?

San Marcos, Seguin, Madison, Reagan. All quality 5A programs that lost to a first year school with a minimal amount of kids.

Nice Lonny, it really shows what kind of person you are by speaking down on a first year program, players, and coaching staff.

Now, I don't want anyone to blow up and cry that I am pissed because I am either a resident of Schertz or Cibolo, an alumni, or a father of a student at one of those schools because the fact is this. I graduated in 2003 from Clemens and maintain a certain interest in the Buffaloes. I have been to 2 Clemens games in the past seasons and will not be present at this Friday's game against Madison. I do not have any friends or family that are still at Clemens and I certainly do not even know anyone that goes to Steele. I do not live anywhere close to that area. Hell, I live all the way over in Shavano Park near Clark High School which is a good 40 minutes away from the Schertz area.

Why do I have a problem with the critisizing of Steele's schedule? Simple. Because they are a first year coaching staff that had to pull ANY games they could. We all know schedules are made in advance and we also all know that the purpose of JV and Freshman teams is to prepare the kids for the varsity level. Now, with that in mind, if you are a head coach at Judson, Smithson Valley, Churchill, etc. would you want to schedule a game against a first year school that is at 4A level? No, you wouldn't because you do not think they would be able to put up much of a fight and would not be anything but a blow off game.

Steele coaching did the best they could and I think they did a damn fine job of scheduling as well as coaching this year and to see someone like Lonny and the others come here, on a public forum, and flat out make fun of their scedule is insulting.

Lonny, you claim to be a man of your word and a man that knows football and loves it. If that is the case then why the disrespectful comments? Why talk down on a program that beat those 5A teams that did take a chance and schedule them? Why would you even want to do that stuff?

To me, it shows me what kind of a person you are.

If I am wrong, then I will be the first to say so and admit it, but I will not sit back and let you disrespect the coaching staff at Steele without any conflict.

Headliner,

I will give you this that I think the hardest job for any coaching staff is to come up with a schedule for the B or C teams. There are many schools that are only able to field one team after grades, injuries, and all the other things that causes a program to lose players throughout the season. After a team cancels the coach is left to come up with a team that they have probably played more than once.

I applaud you conviction but I don't feel that anyone was disrespecting the program at least not I.

I am not dogging Steele, but it was part of the discussion at the Head Coaches meeting at Blossom yesterday and Madison and Reagan both played Steele with their Sub Varsity teams (the kids that were not good enough for Junior varsity). That being said, Steele did do a good job in their first year, but I believe just like Wagner and Stevens they will strugle next year. It is hard to take a bunch of kids that have never played a true varsity game and take them against an established program and win. All three new school did a respectable job and will probably take some licks next year, but it is all part of the learning curve. I wish them all the best of luck next year, their future will hopefully get better each year. I hope the coaches have the patience to stay with it.

If they played the sub-varsity team and not their JV teams than I'd have to agree with you. There is a huge difference between a 'Soph team' and a JV team at any 5a HS! SC knows this first hand as two years ago our Soph team lost to 3a La Vernia's JV team. I'll promise you this, if they had played our JV team, they would have had a really long bus ride back to La Vernia and they would have been too sore to attend their Varsity game the next night! LOL

I also agree that it will take a couple of years for all of these new teams to become contenders! After all, I don't rememeber any team that was competing for a district championship much less a state title in their first 3 or 4 years of existence.

I have a nephew that will be a Jr next year on the varsity and I have already told him that they would take a few lumps and to keep their heads up in the process!

Maybe one of the Clemens fans can answer this for me.

Will Steele be playing their varsity games at Buffalo Stadium next year? If so, I would imagine that Clemens would be needing to get a new scoreboard, one that is not blue and gold and says "Buffalo Country" on it.

Also, why not just have Steele play their home games on their field in Cibolo? I mean, I have seen the campus in Cibolo and it is beautiful and the field is very nice, they would just need to set up stands for the visitors and then they would be set for hosting varsity games.

I've heard that it will become the district stadium next year and I stand by previous statements that I think this is wrong. Can you imagine Steele coming to play Clemens in Clemens' parking lot and being called the home team? It's flat out wrong and the same thing is going to happen to Wagner!

IMO We should have bonded enough money to build an 8,000-10,000 seat stadium on the site at Steele and made that our new district stadium. They could have installed a turf grass field for about 3/4 of a million and it would be guaranteed for 20 years! NO MAINTENANCE NECCESSARY!!!! Average maintenance per year on grass field including everything runs between $40,000 - $50,000 a year! I'm not a math magician but $40,000 X 18.75 = $750,00.00. Not to mention that you could play every game including soccer on it and not hurt it a bit! Now add rent for a few other teams for playoff games every year and it looks even better! It makes no sense to maintain the 'new district field' and Steele's field also for Freshman, JV football and Soccer every year. If you were to factor this into it, the tax payers are footing the bill for at least an additional $1,000,000 over the next 20 years!

Dude, you should know I'm messing around. Let me serious for a moment. It's not uncommon for a subvarsity team in 5A to play a varsity team at a lower classification. I think Steele did a pretty good job with their junior varsity team. This is Bi-District week and that means it's time to go to war with 25-5A. You can't expect me to be nice and congenial this week. I have to talk trash this week for fun. One thing I really like about san Antonio is we talk trash and don't get mad at each other. Hey, I'll be rooting for Clemens in some playoff games if they beat Madison.

A lot of times I say stuff to tease, but don't ever show my true feelings and thoughts. I know it's hard to get games at the last minute in an off year. Everybody schedules games in 2-year cycles. You know it's not like I'm a hypocrite and just pick on SCUCISD. I talk about other posters, the admins, myself, Judson, and whatever team strikes me at the moment to trash talk about! :D
