I am debating on going to the PW game vs FM Marcus which beat PE or do I go see PE play Abilene ? I heard that PW was swapping QB's and that's why the receiver's were not able to perform very well. Inconsistencies with different QB's I can see that. Or do I go see PE play which got hammered against FM Marcus. Will there be huge improvements for both teams? Just a quick question regarding PE, when do you think they will let go of Ringo? They have a lot of great talent on that football team but they are poorly coached. PW on the other hand I heard that Hughes was trying to play OC. Will he be the HC and let the OC do his job? Let me know which game you would go to and why.
GO CATS!!! Anybody going to the game tomorrow? I will be there :D

Between PW and PE I would have to go PE. Our whole family goes to the Plano Plano game. My sister went to East and my brother in-law went to Plano so it is always a lot of fun. I went to Plano and wouldn't have had it any other way :D

Plano East got beat by Flower Mound not FM Marcus.
Go to the Marcus/West game. It should be much much better than the Plano East/Abilene game.

Go to the Marcus vs. West game.
I've made a career of going to games for teams that either 1) have been beaten by Carroll, or 2) are scheduled to be beaten by Carroll.
You'll get one of each type at this contest.:D

thanks for the correction farmer. yeah thinking on the PE game i don't think it is gonna be pretty. Abilene is gonna really lay it on them. Hopefully PE worked a few of the kinks out

PW vs. FM Marcus should be a good game. PESH will get blown away by Abilene.

I've got a scary hunch brewing in my stomach that tells me Marcus is going to beat Carroll this year.

I wouldn't go to either game and stay home and watch on TIVO the Plano win over Desoto on Friday night. That's the best game of the 3 and worth watching twice.:D

They better develop a passing game. They are not going to be able to run over the Dragons defense. Also their defense is going to have to put pressure on Kyle or it will be a long night. Marcus is a great team but simply running the ball is not going to be enough against the better teams in the State. Their offensive line and Hopkins are scary but at this point does not appear to be much more. Still early though.......and of course IMO the best head coach in the area.

BTW, I am going to the game tonight and I have it being recorded on the TIVO :D. I always love to go home and hear what the commentators have to say about both teams. Should be a great test for the CATS.

Its one freaking game and they did what they had to last week.
You are ignorant if you think all they are is Hopkins and the line.
The line just may be the best offensive line in the entire district and will give that oh so vaunted Carroll defensive front hell.
Also, I hihgly doubt the Carroll offense is going to make it a long night on the Marcus D.
Give me Coach Erwin to come up with a muich better defensive game plan than Coach Wasson to do on the offensive end.

Sorry about that thread highjack PWCF03.
Seriously I'd go to the Marcus/West game.
I watched West against Carroll and I think they are a good team. West had a good defense against Carroll. Five key plays could have made the game closer. 1) West failed to tackle against WR Rake allowing a short pass to score on a long play, 2) West screwed up the coverage leaving RB Akers open who proceeded to take a short pass the distance by just outrunning the defense, 3) West gave up a punt return for a TD, 4) West let a fresh, determined, RB score at the very end of the game, 5) West could have had a TD on their first series if the QB would have thrown the ball better.
Yes IF frogs had wings.....the game would have had a different score. Carroll has its share of ifs and buts as well, especially the KO fumble. But I don't want to debate that. I'm trying to explain why you should go see West.
It's difficult to tell how good a team is in the first game of the season. I think West has a good defense and if they fix a few things they can keep the score down. I'm not sure how much better their offense will be though.
Marcus ran the ball a lot against Grapevine which was all they had to do. They will try to run the ball and I think West can stop them frequently. We'll learn if Marcus can throw when it matters.
I highly recommend this game as it will provide lots of insight into how good each team is and I think it will be a good match up. Marcus wins though.

I have said all along they have a great line and a great coach. How much did they throw the ball last year? Yes it is one game and last year was Erwin's first year at Marcus but up until now they run possibly the most boring offense around and should that continue they will be hard pressed against better teams. It is still early and we will see, but once you see the Carroll defense this year you will understand that no one is going to run it down their throats.

Many teams have won state without putting a strong emphasis on the passing game.
Erwin has enough skins on the wall to know what it takes to get back to that level.
Not saying this years Marcus team is going to win a state title but he will have them in position to win a state title very soon. It doesnt take a blanced attack to win a state title. Marcus will throw the ball enough to continue to give the running game enough breathing room to do damage.
Boring got them back into the playoffs last year and posted 9 wins. Boring allowed them to do what good teams should to not so good teams last week and that was win big by putting up 55 points and holding their opponent to 3. The one thing that I have seen Erwin to at Marcus is put in their minds to fear nobody, this Marcus team wont be like their past teams to where they are beat before taking the field against good teams. He has put the confidence into his team and players that they can beat anybody they play.
My hunch over the summer was that Carroll would win the district and they still may, I just think Marcus took a huge step last week by defeating Grapevine pretty soundly. They are only going to get better from here on out and they only play one true road game in district this year. It sets up nicely for them to make a nice run.

FF did you switch from your regular brand(ML) to the stuff that says 'Beer' on the can, AGAIN?
THAT easily could cause a hunch like this to brew in your stomach. Try some unthawed Frozen pizza for breakfast as a cure. Go into the closet, put on your Dragon hat that you have hidden under the massive pile of dirty clothes and repeat 'I'm wrong, I'm Wrong!!!!'

He did have some pretty good Vodka over the weekend mixed in with his Bud so that could be the problem in this crazy hunch of mine.

I'd go to West vs Marcus. Because I'm a homer, and it wouldn't be fun watching Plano East getting massacred by Abilene. This is going to be a very good game. I think we match up well with Marcus and I'm looking to Jackson Jeffcoat to have a huge game, proving his toughness against the run. :)

Agreed they are a good team with a great coaching staff and the Carroll/Marcus game should be a good one. They certainly made a statement with their win against Grapevine. Unfortunately Grapevine is horrible this year but a win is a win and they won decisively which is important when playing a team that just does not have it this year.

Which as odd as it may sound is why I am impressed even more with tht win.
Marcus needed to make a statement last week and they did by putting up what, 48 first half points? or something tothat tune. Had Marcus only won by a score of 42-20 or gave up some points to Grapevine while having to play their starters a majority of the game, then I that could have said they were overhyped, but they didnt and they get to live another week as possibly being a very good team.
I am still debating whether or not I want to go watch the Marcus/West game or the Lewisville/Naaman game tonight. Want to see this Marcus team live to make sure they're worthy enough of the farmers praise right now:D

I probably should do that. But hey, I found a cool dragon poster overr the summer in Pants and love engaging with him.
I just may start getting in each thread with a Carroll is overrated or needs to listen to Calpreps because as the good Dr has said, they suck this year:D;)

Indeed it does Tulsa and I guess it was that mixture of Budweiser and Vodka brewing in my stomach that made me make that crazy prediction of Marcus winning district this year.
The offense is far from boring but it does lack a passing game.
Congrats again to PW
