Anyways, I think this game is like Plano West, only better for us. Seeing how the D played, and thinking that the O will be getting their chops, I'm going to say 38-10.

poor sportsmanship by peach the lesser. he has a whole resume of less than honorable actions and quotes which makes his appearances as a color guy on slc playoff(he is available early) radio very disturbing. the colts have shown the (lack of) class on both meetings, and i expect more of the same. i'd love to see a blowout with seconds by the third.

Week one & game two will serve to quiet some of the naysayers who have somehow taken a 35-9 win and used it to hammer the coffin closed on our dynasty. I expect a shut out to be pitched by a defense that has the potential to develop into the best EVER for Carroll. I also suspect that the wr's will bounce back a bit, too. Any of the morons that expected a brand new oline to be firing on all cylinders in the first game need to watch more games. The strides that unit will show in the first few weeks should be a joy to watch. Padron will get stronger with every pass he throws. One thing many will have to come to terms with is this offense may be more power based than in years past. I love the fact we appear to have two quality runing options and a qb who is unafraid to tuck it, also. As the offense gains game experience I would expect there to be more wrinkles and deep shots. For now, let 'em get their feet wet. I predict marked improvement from the offense as they become more comfortable in their big boy, Dragon skin.

OK, here we go... things I predict we'll see on Friday-
* After a dismal showing by his Colts in the first half and with play-off hopes a stretch, Arlington Coach Scott Peach joins Kelly and Mulligan in the KKGM booth to get some early work in as the color man for the Dragon network
* The SL pre-game routine increases in intimidation with all players making it safely thru the helmet
* New offensive weapon, punter Scott Lopano, is seen getting in leg stretching warm-ups with our high kicking Emerald Belles
* Thousands of " loyal" Dragon fans entering Dragon Stadium are surprised to learn that there was a zero week game already played...
* The Dragon Shop unveils a new line of Dragon products, including the Richards-Burnett figurines- "they make great bookends!"
* The offense begins actually gaining yardage on first down plays...
*... which produces a much improved attack, though unnecessary as the defenses pitches their first shut-out. Dragons send their fans home happy, with a 38-0 thrashin'
* Bonus item-Sadly, all is not well locally, as the 4A Aledo bunch pound the 5A Grapevine team across the street at Mustang-Panther stadium, 37-3... shame

Arlington are expecting great things this season, with 10 starters returning on Offense and 8 returning on Defense. I guess that is why they scheduled the Dragons, thinking they would be good this year. But losing to Creekview by such big score does not augur well for this Friday's game.

Or perhaps it was just some really bad initial first game jitters on the part of the Colts or by the peach. I too was expecting a much stronger showing by Arlington, given their returning players. I agree that they scheduled Carroll in the belief that they would be much stronger than they showed out of the gate.

the first meeting doesn't need explaining if you were there. lots of crap in pregame. during a po game in ts, peach the loser advocated, while doing the color analysis, that taking a penalty to try to get one of the dragon players injured was a good stategy. it was well documented and discussed on here.

I think that Arlington will play better than last week but if they got lit up for that many yards it is still going to be ugly.
It is amazing how opponents get fired up to play the Dragons but that excitement is short lived, historically.
I do not see the starters getting much time after a couple of series in the third quarter.

My memory is not what it was. I know that the Dragons played Arlington in the Play-offs in both 2002 and 2003 and I remember attending both games; but I was not aware of any pre-game-crap. Unfortunately I did not join this Forum until 2005, so I missed the discussion at that time.

We probably talked about it more on here than the players would. Lot's of dirty stuff in the pile-ups and cheap shots by Arlington. The 02 game was competitive for a half and the second game was a blowout, so I'm sure the Colts were frustrated..they just didn't handle the frustration as mature high school kids...:D When Peach suggested on the broadcast that taking out a Carroll player was worth a penalty, it kind of sealed the deal.

By the way, Scott Peach did not take over as head coach at Arlington until the 2003 season. In 2002, Joe Don Finley was the quarterback and his father was the head coach. Joe Don graduated that year and his father left Arlington which made room for Peach.

He decidedly did make such a statement, unbelievable as that may be for any coach, but in particular, a high school coach. I believe he was the head guy at Arlington at the time such an outrageous statement was made. Hopefully one of the station's staff or sponsor beat the guy around the head with a rolled up program for awhile once they recovered sufficiently to even believe that he had said such on the air.

Can't say about the jv last night, but both freshman teams managed to win at Dragon Stadium in what can only be described as very long games. An excruciating number of penalty flags and a bunch of incomplete passes were responsible for the length of both games.
