The East Texas Showdowns Continue As Tyler Lee Tries To Rebound From A Disapointing Loss To Lufkin After Leading 21-7 With Momentum At The Half. Now They Get Ready For A Longview Team That Has Beating Them The Last 5 Meatings. As For Longview They Dropped To 4a But Still Seem Like The Longview Of 5a At Times Against 5a #8 Ranked Allen in a 21-7 loss. Who Do Yall Think Will Win.

This will be a tough game between 0-1 teams..,but since it's in Lobo stadium I see Longview winning a close one like 24-21 or something like that. Plus I want Lp to be the first to end that little home streak they have up there.

This could be a very intersting game. He who is able to get traction wins.
They are predicting as much as 15 inches of rain in the area from Gustav. I don't know how good of shape the Lobo Bowl will be in by game time.

The field shouldn't hold any water so I think it will be just fine. Now the pigskin on the other hand will be a little slippery. And the stadium looks great with the addition of the replay/video screen and the bigger chairback seats on the home side. Only bad thing is that there is nomo general admission on the home side. All season tickets. So some Lobos and Raiders will be on the same side. It's all good doe. Get there early cause it's gonna be a packed house!
And congrats to Lee's Matt Flynn. He won the #2 job behind Aaron Rodgers beating out Brian Bhrom. If there's any consulation being a back-up.

I'm going with my Lobos. Even though we lost last week to a great Allen team, I feel we played one heck of a game. I know we will be ready Friday facing a great Tyler Lee team. I hear their running back has gotten even better. I think our defense of Bubba Vactor, Chris Knighton, Jeremiah Farley, Darius Watters, and others will be ready for him. I just hope offense will work out the kinks they have and be ready. Good luck and Tyler Lee, drive safely.

if you arent big red you have got to be a clone of big red.....that is just funny. if you keep making statements like that it wont be long before ppl just start skipping over your posts.
Longview has alot of talent on the offensive side of the ball BUT they are very young and made alot of mistakes last Friday night. We had 350 yds of offense against a very good Allen defense. Stalled in the red zone 2-3 times and had 5 fumbles and only lost one. This will be a close game and I think low scoring.

ok well see i didnt know yall had that type of yardaged gained on offense.yes it may be a close low scoring game. but i hope not cause its just hard to win a close game in longview. when the clock gets to the final minutes the refs give you a cheap shot on the sly if you know what i mean.

No excuses you won, but we still got the hardware and ya'll got what?
Longview better have a tall fast reciever and QB who can get the ball down field or it will be a long night if Lee's defense plays the run like they have in the scrimmage and agianst Lufkin. It will be tough to win unless the refs pull the yellow hanky's out!

actually we do have those type of players. 4 WR who are all at least 6' and dual threat QB. Add in the home cooking and sounds like Lee is in for a long night.

Longview impressed me greatly last season. If Longview played Lee last week, we would've lost in my opinion.
But we all know the team grows up the most between week 0 and week 1. Aaron Johnson will come to play. Defense was lights out against a very very high powered Allen offense.
Longview wins it 28-17.
O and c-lisle, the series is 34-14-2. Trying to remember the last time any team on any level from Longview lost to a team from Tyler. Can't seem to remember it. Wasn't the past two years I know that much.

Dada will not, I repeat, will not run rampant on the Lobo D unless they become clueless in a week, or they have 11 new starters.
Lee has a lot of weapons - and it needs to learn how to get the ball in other players hands. Dada is a scatback that works best in open field IMO.
I'd love to be at this game, but we have JT here.

Easy Rap. L'view will be ready for DaDa, and will not be caught off guard by him. I will be shocked if he puts up over 150, much less 200 yds on them. I also have serious doubts that your D will limit The Lobos to less than 200 total yds. and only 10-14 points at their house.
This should be a great game!

I figured Longview would play Allen close. I kind of laughed when someone said a 5A program playing in 4A. Honestly I think the Lobos are going to walk away with the state championship this season. Dallas Carter might press Longview, but I know one thing for sure Lake Travis aint going to do it, and if Everman is the seoncd best then 4A is in trouble. Remeber when Marshall moved down and their first 2 years they go to state and honestly should have beaten Ennis.
As far as this current game goes look the Red Raiders proly will get the shaft by the refs, but it's just the same in Tyler. The refs missed 3 PI's and 3 false starts in the Lufkin game. I just think Lee has the experience to beat a young Lobo team this year. Tyler Lee does have a pretty stacked defense up front especially at DE. Longview is young, but if there is one thing about the Lobos the will grow up fast.

Thought Smoaky did such a good job of this I would post it here. Read Below:
There is no comparison between the history of Longview, JT, and Lufkin with Tyler Lee.
Although JT started the same year, I think 1958, they are credited with everything from old Tyler High.
Meanwhile, Lufkin and Longview began playing football in the early-1900's.
Head-to-Head since 1958, Longview and Lufkin dominate REL...but the JT-REL series is very close.
But when you take the four programs since 1990...and that's almost two-decades, it's much-much closer than most people realize, especially when you look at post-season success.
Here are the overall records of the four since 1990.
Lufkin (154-60-3)
1990-99 (61-45-3)
2000-06 (93-15-0)
Playoff Appearances: 12
State Championship Appearances: 1
State Championships: 1
Longview (146-60-3)
1990-99 (76-33-3)
2000-06 (70-27-0)
Playoff Appearances: 12
State Championship Appearances: 1
State Championships: 0
John Tyler (125-79-4)
1990-99 (88-28-4)
2000-06 (37-51-0)
Playoff Appearances: 12
State Championship Appearances: 2
State Championships: 1
Robert E. Lee (125-80-5)
1990-99 (57-49-5)
2000-06 (68-31-0)
Playoff Appearances: 13
State Championship Appearances: 1
State Championships: 1
When talking to Lobos fans on my show, or by email, or in person, the part that drives them crazy is the "0" next to state championships, and yes---I know all about their state title in 1937...but the drought since then, and knowing Marshall ('90), REL ('04), JT ('94 & '73), and Lufkin ('01) have all won something since ---seems to send them over the edge.
No one was more disappointed than I was after Longview's state championship loss to Katy in 1997, that was a great team the Lobos fielded in '97---but they just met their match that day.
No question, Longview has been the most consistent winner among the four, and REL is the least successful overall...but in recent history, and not just the past 5-6 years, but over the past 15-or-20...REL has been head-to-head with all three.
Longview and Lufkin are well ahead on victories since 1990...but REL's program since the arrival of Mike Owens has been just as successful during the post-season, and unless my facts are wrong, and they could be---it's Tyler Lee with the most playoff appearances since 1990.
Who would've ever thought that?
That's not to take away the overall numbers, because they should count...but since the arrival of Mike Owens, look at the overall records against the others you mention (since 1996).
REL trails in their series against Longview 6-8 (Longview has won the last five).
REL leads their series against Lufkin, I think it's now 7-5 after Friday's 26-21 loss, I could be off by one.
REL leads their series against John Tyler 10-3.
I miss the great East Texas 5A's, and I'm saddened by the changes in realignment and enrollment.
I'm on record as saying the two East Texas 4-A districts are more like what we remember, and I enjoy watching them too.
I have noticed a constant rebuttal to anyone crediting REL with their success under Owens, and I'm sure he, his staff, and players don't care.
I know what REL football was like before he arrived, and I know REL once dreamed they could be a "player" among the better programs in Texas...and although they have dropped a notch since their state championship in 2004, they're not against playing the best programs.
Thank God the series has resumed with Lufkin, and it will continue with Longview, and JT remains in the same district...but they're also playing the current #5 team in the state Abilene during non-district, and then the following week at home against the current #11 team, Flower Mount Marcus.
Count 'em up---and that would be a lot #'s next to four of their non-district opponents.
I don't know if they come out of it 1-4, or 4-1...but they will be better because of it...just like Longview, JT, and Lufkin will be for who they're playing over the next 3-4 weeks.
Smoaky

He's not saying that Brown isn't good. I think we've established he's a good back. But last season, not a single person knew about him come that Lee @ Longview game. This season, he's going to be on that board as one of the guys to stop.
There's a big difference when people know who you are and know you are an established back than when nobody knows who you are.
As clisle said...this year's defense is a lot quicker than last year. As long as Longview holds onto the ball, I can't help but think the Lobos will win it.

Either way, good luck to all Tyler Lee fans (obviously not too much luck though).
And be safe traveling over to Longview. Hope you enjoy the new scoreboard as much as we will. Can't wait to see it in real game action.
Go Lobos!

i bet dada run the thread off his cleats friday on yall. yall still part of the east texas family c-listle but i want yo butt to learn a lesson about who own who. dada owns yalls defense. i say btween 150-220 with 2 tds for the youngsta. under 200 total yards for yalls offense and only 10 pts or no more than 14. when we put the back ups in ,you may score 1 more. so ill give you 14pts MAYBE!
Rapture, you might want to leave the predictions to the experts. You are 0 -2 already. Your boy DaDa might have had 30 yards total.

Not really. I listen to the game and I think we completed 1 or 2 passes. Had a ton of drops and a lot of penalties. Just went back to smash mouth and ran the ball down Tyler Lee's throat the 2nd half. Defense played great. I will be very suprised if Tyler Lee had over 150 yards total offense.

That was sloppy sloppy SLOPPY football.
1) One thing Longview improved on from last week. Turnovers. GREAT job by the guys this week working on that.
2) Two things Longview didn't improve on AT ALL from last week (and probably got worse)....penalties and dropped balls. Did we complete a pass all game? I don't remember one.
3) Tyler Lee has a lot of potential but like Longview, they're going to have to learn how to throw the ball.
Another great game between two great progams. But the Lobo defense is unbelievable this season and created NUMEROUS turnovers.

The Lobos are going to dismantle Lufkin unless we find a near miracle cure in two weeks. That game could get butt ugly. Good win Lobos - you obviously have a very good D.

That may be the understatement of the season thus far.

none of the offenses played well tonight. longview just had the one drive. lee does not have a qb. that dood is sorry. fumbled the snap 3 times tonight 2 last week vs lufkin. thru a pick tat was a for sure td. i hope they bech him and dada had around 70 yds, no passing game and they keyed on him. recivers were open qb just was good. the 2 licks he threw were for sure td's for lee. the first one dada had all the blocking in the world and nothing but green ahead of him and the qb waits to long on the screen and got it picked. he is sinseless. he needs to be benched.

He also was stopped in the back field about 10 times.
He had 1 long run. What other "key" runs were there?
Your offense didn't get past midfield the entire first half.

Acording to stats in Tyler paper daDa Brown 18 rushes for 34 yards. Suprised me! I figured he would go off. OK Rapture looking at game. Last week you said Lee could win it all. Now this week you are blaming the lose on the QB. It takes a team to win it all. Coach Owens quote after game. Monday morning we gonna see who wants to play. Back to square one! All positions will be up for grabs. Just admit it. Tyler Lee is not a very good team RIGHT now. I got the balls to say Lufkin is not very good right now. They did not play bad tonight, Just Cujo came to win. Good ole East Texas SMASHMOUTH football. Even my buddy that is a JT fan said both teams played good.

I am not sure what game you were at but Longview's Offense looked pretty dang good. No excuses from me our QB looked terrible and he needs to be benched after a performance like that. I agree with you on that, but it was not all his fault, the O-line played terrible as well! Longview played well in all phases of the game and the refs actually called a fair game (only a few missed holding calls both ways). What was it 4 picks, 4 or 5 fumbled snaps, two fumbles lost you can't win like that. We have had 10 or 11 fumbles and 5 picks this year in two games. It appears this is a recipe for a disastrous season. I hope we can get back to playing the kind of ball we played in the first half of the Lufkin game, but with our play calls on Offense it could be a long year. The defense just completely wore down it was not there fault they played great but when you are out there 2 thirds or the game I don't care how good you are you will ware down. As far as Longview having one good drive Rapture, they had several good drives that were stalled by our defense and to be honest that should be expected with our D, but it was not as good as it was last week either.
CONGRATS Longview you guys will be tough to beat this year 4a or 5a it wouldn’t matter!!

Well our running game was excellent..our passing game was absolutely awful.
Tyler Lee has a lot of potential has long as you guys can get a passing game (there's a trend running here hmmm).
Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season. Glad to have this rivalry continued.
