They don't "Hit" too much, just kind of pull the guy down when they tackle. They'd get their Eyes opened pretty quick playing some good Texas defenses.

Rockhurst didn't fare to well against Abilene a few years ago, maybe their eyes were opened then, and that's why they're playing another Missouri team instead of a team from a real football state.

WOW.. what a blowout. I know Rockhurst is nationally ranked. But is Blue Springs even state ranked? If so they need to look at how they rank there teams.. This isnt even competitive...UGLY!!

Most definitely a lopsided game. Interesting to see the caliber of teams there with the 13th ranked team playing. TX boys could really show these kids how to play some ball. I thought that was very interesting the rule where the clock runs continuously if the lead is 35 or more. Its a MO rule. There isn't a rule like that here right??? I think it is a pretty good rule, sorta of a mercy rule.

rockhurst was "supposed" to roll over the eagles that year but ended up getting dominated 33-14

Believe it or not, those were two of your elite QBs for the class of 2009. The guy in white, Nathan Sheelhasse, had about 30 or more offers. He has committed at Illinois. The other guy, Blaine Dalton, is the future of Missouri football.

I would boycott Texas high school football if they instituted a mercy rule.

Now you know why I've been saying for years that so called National Prep polls are a 100% joke.

Any top #25 National Prep football poll at the end of the season that doesnt have at least 6 to 7 Texas teams on it is a JOKE !!

Like I've been saying. The Texas 4A State Champs could win State large school titles in about 45 of the American States every year.

Texas 3A State Champs could win probably about 35 States large school State Titles most years.

Again, there is some good teams from other States many years that could give some of the top Texas teams tough games and even beat them. But no State (NO STATE) has the overall quality and depth as Texas does when it comes to the overall number of quality teams.

PS. The overall competiton level of HS football in Texas has no equal. I dont care what anyone says.

I would boycott Texas high school football if they instituted a mercy rule. 6 man has a 45 point mercy rule, there have been several ( 4-5 or more ) times in Lineweavers tenure at ET when they have a big lead late in the game and he had met with the refs & opposing coaches to decide to let the clock run, a few years ago the whole second half of a game with an irving team was run that way ( 2 of their stars were sent to the hospital in the first half) and only running plays were used. The kneel down is used extensively, . Mercy is alive and well in ET. Evidently not in your area.

There are some very well known programs that think they are supposed to beat the opposition as badly as possible. You know, chunking it deep when up by three TDs (sound familiar anyone?). I guess that helps their national ranking or serves to intimidate future opponents or something, but it is quite common. I was frankly amazed that Jacquizz Rodgers made it through to college without an injury. I guess they were after the rushing records, because he is the all-time TD scorer in Texas history. They would be handing him the ball when they were up by 30. if he would have been hurt, they would not even have sniffed at that 4A state championship they won.

Nothing against the kid (Dalton) but he aint even close to being in Chase Daniels league in regards to football ability.

Looking at Daniels when he was a Senior at SLC and comparing him to this kid at Blue Spring as a Senior. It's Night and Day.

Mizzou might want to come down to SLC and offer Padron a "ship.";)

Pardon me, is this referring to Streety running up the score? lol. Now I don't agree with a lot of things streety does but thats why he is the coach and I am fan.

If not, I was just asking if this is an official rule here. Thats all. Geez.

I played for the Rockurst Coach (Tony Schivano) when he was at SMNW at we were ranked #4 or #6 in Kansas at the time and I guarantee you that the team I moved from in Florida (Lake Brantley) JV squad would have killed them.

It is just a different brand of ball - very slow & deliberate.

I don't know or even care who "Streety " is. I never refered to him or it. I just responded that there is a rule in 6-man and the ET coach as an unoffical policy of showing compassinon and is not always a bad thing. Lineweaver has stated many times that kids word hard even on non winning teams and that they don't need to be humiliated by running up a score.

My 2 cents worth: I don't want to see a "mercy rule" where the game stops after a certain score differential is reached. If that happened, the Housto Oilers might have been in the super bowl in the 90's (remember the Buffalo Bills?).

However, I do believe that if both coaches agree, it is fine to run the clock continuously. And both teams should respect what is being done. By that I mean you play out the game. and you never give up. To me it is a matter of character. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you lose badly. But you play to the best of your ability till the final whistle.

If a coach runs up the score, then that will come back on the school/coach eventually.

I agree but it is a lot more difficult now then in the past with so many teams running the spread. You can run the ball on every play but it is hard for some of the offenses to get out of their core scheme and when you do that you run the risk of injury. I think there are a lot of teams that are accused of this too often. Now if you are airing it out down the field with a huge lead that is one thing but to completely run a different offense in quite another.

Agreed. For a spread, a sideline pass is a dive.
