Copperas Cove will take on Klein Forest in the opening round. IMO Cove is too technical of a team for Forest to pull off the win. I dont know much about Forest except for a Soph. QB and a team that likes to play dirty when getting beat. In a way I would like to see some dirty play that wouldnt hurt Cove players cuz that means they are gettin' it handed to em from dem DAWGS!!!
I believe we will see some dirty play from Forest, but Jack and the players are ready for it. And no one expect Cove to stoop to that level because Cove has close to the most class outta any team in the state. Thats what jack empasises in Cove...CLASS

What was the score when Lufkin played them
Lufkin_Class_Of_08

37-21...it was lufkins closest district game...some people in my classes are worried that lufkin is not as good as last year because they look at a 27-14 game vs nac...well nac was better this year and that was the third game of the year...so relax we will do fine this year and hopefully make it far

I think Cove should do well. If theres one thing we have, its team speed. And we've also been tested a few times this year. The O/T game against Waco at Waco showed that they can win a rivalry on the road against an opponent with a lot of athletes. The Judson game showed they can win a tight game against a state powerhouse, though not as powerful this year as years past. So heading into the playoffs, they're ready for whatever KF throws at them. I see Cove winning 17-7.

Man Klien Forest scooped and scored a defensive TD against our subs late in the game. Lufkin called off the dogs early could have been as bad as 45-52 to 14. But when Klien Forest is getting beat they will take alot of cheap shots so just watch out. But on the otherhand they have some athletes and if you let them play with you they have a chance to win. But I think Cove by 7.

It's funny that NO other team that KF has played has made the first complaint about dirty play, except for lufkin. Why is that?
KF scored twice VERY quickly against lufkin to make it a 17-14 ball game with the big play right before the half giving lufkin the momentum going into half time. You're right it could have been 52 to 45 point had the KF defense not forced you guys into 3 40 plus yard field goals. No other defense force you to do that. Lufkin won that game, congrats, move on. One game shouldn't be the only game you use go gauge your competition.
Actually, keep making the Cove fans think that KF is a bunch of dirty playing underachievers. I want to see the look on their face when they see how much different the competition levels are between 14-5A & 13-5A. KF ain't Belton folks.

I guess you missed the other fan's that have said it including a Westfield fan?? I am sure it only happens when they know they are beat playing a superior team?? Either way i could care less let's move on!! And LOL about Lufkin not moving on and continuing to talk about how they beat KF. This not ground breaking stuff it happens every time they play by at least 16. LOL We were just answering the guys question so spare us the drama.
Covefan Lufkin won 37-21 but the score does not tell the whole story. Lufkin put the game away early and put their 2nd string players in mid way through the 4th and completely called off the dogs. It was 37-14 when our very turnover prone 2nd string qb made a bad pitch when Lufkin was at the KF 25 and KF returned it for a 70 plus yard td. It was hardly a 16 point game. Either way KF has the potential to upset some very good teams. They do have talent!!

Klein Collins wasn't Belton last year so is there that big of a competition gap between the two districts??? I think not. That was last year and this is this year, Cove won't take them for granted but I do think they will win. Cove by 14 at least :D

I do not know where you got that from by watching the tapes. Besides the 2 big plays on a screen and a Long pass KF could not establish anything sustained on offense and Lufkin put their 2nd string offense and defense in the 4th. There was a ton of 3 and outs for KF and Lufkin completely shut down their very good running game. Oh well your opinion but i disagree with it. No matter it was a double digit win.
I like Cove 31-21 in this game.

What Tape did you see Klien Forest scored off 2 busted playes besides they were held in check most of the day. BTW congrats on getting into the playoffs but sorry THE PACK will bounce you out by more then 30 points. But I will be there to check you out. Im guessing you play O-Line if your a guard then you will have to watch out for the DT's in your the tackle just hope #7 is not in front of you. Plus you will witness the best LB in 5A when you see #10 Manddela Roberts. Goodluck cuase your going to need it.

Heightsboy77, keep your guard up against #62, 3 tech for lufkin. If you've seen any tape of him, you know what I'm talking about.
Obviously, lufkin only gives up BUSTED plays for TDs. I've seen you guys & you have some speed. Don't be afraid to throw it deep on them. That is one thing they don't handle very well. KF burned them for a TD deep, Klein's slow receivers got behind them on several occasions one for a TD, and Huntsville had some players get behind them as well although they didn't execute.
Luf's D is for real. Their offense is good, but with that defense setting up so many scores it makes their offense very good. The defense set up 14 early points versus KF, taking KF out of their game plan early. Heck, the luf O had 14 points and only 12 yards because of those turn overs! If you can keep them from hitting the deep ball on you, you can stall some of their drives. KF forced 3 40+ yard field goals. No doubt they are a good team. KF gave them the closest game they played all year and lost 37 to 21. Good luck to you guys!

CoveFan05, here is a question for you. What makes someone consider a team to be an undisciplined or dirty team?
Would that be penalties?
Ejections from games?
What????

I don't know much about CC but any team that goes undeated out of a respectable district deserves kudos. Several KF players did lose their cool near the end of the Lufkin game, but anyone that has been on a footlball field in a big game has seen some dirty deeds and every team talks trash.
KF has some good athletes and has the ability to beat CC if they play agood game. Both games KF lost(Lufkin and THW) were due to turnovers and inconsistent offense. Should be agood game. CC by 7.

I can respect your comments on the KF loses and agree with them. You can also throw in some poor special teams against TWHS. To lay the subject to rest I will say that I have seen some KF teams of past and there have been some discipline issues but, this years team has improved on being a class act and has made some strides forward, i.e. only two penalties against district rival Klein. These kids play hard and will leave it all on the field. Copperas Cove from what I have heard is a class act and well coached group. This game should be a battle and the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win it.

You live in Bryan? Me neice is from Cove and lives and works down there too and i vist the area quite often.
Take Hwy. 6 to Hwy 79 in Hearn. Follow Hwy 79 to through Taylor and into Round Rock. Head South on IH 35 in Round Rock to San Marcos. It should take about 2.25 hours to get to Round Rock and then give yourself about an hour to get to San Marcos and the field if you know where the field is as i do not just yet. If you do not know, allow a little extra time.
Also consider the traffic in Austin depending on what time the Texas game is. If it is a lete evening game traffic can be rough and then plan for the usual accidents along the way which causes traffic to back up. San Marcos has several nice areas to check out so you can make it a day trip and come early and enjoy the town. I plan on going down there early to have a good time.

With this kind of performance by the bulldawgs, offensively and defensively, Cove should hande Leander...Welch has em not gettin big headed this time around...I like it when your fullback runs for 118 yds on just 8 carries, while your qb takes it 5 time for 80+....We scored 2 defensive touchdowns and caused numerous turnovers. Here is a KF take. Copperas Cove is down right scary. Good is an understatement. They have as many high quality athletes as anyone in district 14-5A, but their offensive & defensive execution is absolutely incredible. Great athletes + great execution = an excellent freakin' team.
After seeing lufkin & Cove live, there is NO comparison. KF forced lufkin to punt a few times, forced 2 turnovers, forced them into 3 40+ yard field goals, it was actually a 14-17 ball game for a while; at times KF played with lufkin pretty well. KF NEVER EVEN FORCED COVE TO PUNT . Cove scored on every possesion. They can match anyone athlete for athlete, and NO team in district 14-5A executes as well as the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs. They are EXTREMELY well coached. The KF kids were calling out what play Cove was about to run by formation recognition and down and distance tendency and Cove was STILL getting 9 yards. They were impressive.
Congrats Cove. I wish you guys the best of luck the rest of the way. After watching Leander in Austin on Friday night, you guys won't have ANY problem with them.

Interesting take. Our game w/ Cove was decided on two plays. That was the difference in the game. (INT and Blocked Punt) Hat's off to Achison as I think he made both plays. That one guy was the difference in that game. I think he was defending on that last pass play into the end zone. I was so mesmerized by that last play I forgot to push the button on the camera! It was a fantastic game. Taking the loss was tough, but our guys came out of that knowing we were good enough to hang with anyone in the state. I'm guessing Cove came away with a similar confidence.
13-5A is used to getting pushed hard by good teams on a weekly basis.

Cove should feel that way. I've always been proud of our district and am glad that people see it for what it is. Leander is in a really good district as well, going 2-1, with their one loss coming to a great Hays team. Same with 14-5a, our one loss to a state powerhouse. But keep your heads up Heights, you represented the district well.
I look forward to a great game next Saturday in Round Rock.
