View Full Version : Something scary about Texas

I don't know if you guys have been paying attention to what is going on in the Texas backfield, but there is something special brewing back there. Jamaal Charles is back to 100% (or at least very close to it) and the coaches are giving Ramonce Taylor a lot of carries. Just stop for a second and think about the sick amount of speed that is in that backfield at any given time, especially when you throw in Vince.
What is just as scary is that Ramonce and Charles are both tremendous receivers out of the backfield. They are also guys that Vince is very comfortable with. The offensive threats that those two guys pose is just sick. Against Baylor, 4 different Texas RBs had 60 rushing yards or more, but no single back had more than 105 yards. That kind of balance is amazing. Ramonce was also the second leading receiver and he did it from his RB spot. Pretty cool.

Those two are special, there's no doubt about it! I've been one of the few who has thought Ramonce needed to play RB all along. I know he tries to bounce almost everything to the outside, but that's part of what makes him so dangerous...most of the time he can actually pull it off! I'm still waiting to see Vince flanked by both Ramonce and Jamaal...how do you defend that? Just think, they'll all be back next year! Ramonce and Jamaal will be around for awhile.

usually the real stud recruits don't care about the competition they will be getting. some stud Qbs do, but that's about it.

Not to mention a great power runner in Selvin Young, and Chris Ogbonnya (sp?) is pretty good too.
None of them are seniors.
What about Emanuel Moody? is he still comitted to Texas?
They are stacked with recievers also,
Romance Taylor
Quan Cosby
Billy Pittman
Limas Sweed
David Thomas
Nate Jones
Brian Carter
And i think only Carter and Thomas are seniors
Also stacked - OL, DL, LB, DB
and we have Vince

To be the best you gotta beat the best. We here in NS were hoping that Bobby Reid would go to Texas. Now Think of how that continuity would've looked. Hopefully this Harris kid is the real deal and the Longhorns can be top dog powerhouse for a while.

I have a feeling that you may see another top QB recruit swith their pledge and commit to Texas before the recruiting season is over.
In fact it wouldnt surprise me if the Stephenville kid (Snead) commits to Texas. He's supporse to have a bigtime gun and pretty good athlete. I know he's verballed to Florida but the recruiting season aint over.

Jevon Snead is the real deal. While he is commited to Florida, there is a lot of talk that he may change his mind. The top dual-threat QB recruit in the nation is a 5 star prosepct out of Jacksonville, FL (just up the road from Gainesville) by the name of Tim Tebow. Tebow grew up a Gator fan and word is they are top on his list. If Tebow does commit to Florida, don't be surprised if Snead starts having second thoughts.
Something else to watch for is Mitch Mustain. Mustain isnt commited to Arkansas... he's commited to Houston Nutt. If Nutt is fired, Mustain will not go to Arkansas.

I have no doubt that Colt can get the job done and I hope he gets the chance.
BTW, I think you'll see Jermichael Finley take over for David Thomas next year.

two things. Snead is going to enroll for the spring, so he is going to have to change his mind fast.
Second this year it is possible that Texas may break its ten year streak of having a 1000 yard rusher. currently Vince has like 750 and Charles has 700 with about 4 others having atleast 250 yards. It would be incredible to have almost three thousand yards rushing with no 1000 yard rusher

we still have 4 games left, should be plenty of time for him to get 300 more yds.
He could get most of them this weekend :)

Ya... I just heard through a few sources that he's really looking at Texas again. Who knows what's going to happen. I think there is a few other top prep blue-chip QB's that are looking at Texas now.

Ya. I think Colt McCoy is one of those sleeper type of players. He may never be an All-American type of player..but maybe an All-Conference type.
I also think that J. Finley is going to be a future "Stud" TE/HB type of player. That kid showed me everything in the Tx Coaches All-Star game. Wow, he's an athlete !!!
I cant wait to see Jordan Shipley on the field. he's also got some bigtime skills at the WR spot.

Another scary thing about Texas...
Vince Young is on pace to be the first player in college football history to pass for 3,000 and rush for 1,000 and he'll be back next year. Maybe next year he'll learn how to pass.

I refuse to look at next year until this season is ruled officially over by me (meaning Texas has no chance at a good amount of success). Looking to next year is very Aggy.

Add to the scariness...
Stephenville's Jevan Snead is a commit to Florida, but there has been a lot of talk about him having second thoughts. The fact that he will be taking an official visit to Austin this weekend for the Texas/Kansas game kinda supports some of those rumors.

It's shaping up to be something special. Limas Sweed, Billy Pittman, Ramonce Taylor, a healthy Jordan Shipley (knock on wood), The Quan, Nate Jones and Jermichael Finley are all sophs. or younger and all could be incredible. On top of that, I think S. Garland's Phillip Payne will do well once he gets on campus. I'm also still hoping to see big George Walker in the future.
