Tomorrow night the two newest editions to the 265/285 pre-district rivalry take the field for the first time. Johnson, drawing its players from the underclass of SAReagan, will be led onto the field by former SAMadison offensive guru Ron Rittiman. Brandeis will has drawn its players from the class teams of 285a, Clark, Marshall, and O'Connor. Good luck to both teams and welcome to the show that never ends!

speaking of shows that never end.... when is O'Connor gonna get enough of Madison and quit agreeing to schedule them? Is it going to take 10 losses to finally say uncle? I've gotta say, if they couldn't do it friday night, i don't know if it will ever happen.

I know O'Connor lost its starting QB/LB but it seems like there's always an excuse why they can't beat Madison. I think we should start switching these team around. Let's play Taft, Jay, or Warren to start. At least with Warren it wouldn't be a forgone conclusion that Madison would walk away 1-0.

SV could have said the same about us before last year. Although, being district opponents and all, not like we had a choice in playing them. O'Connor's day will come. Wasn't tonight, but it sure looked like it could be at the start of the game. Madison showed instances of the great team we had last year and our D really came to life in the 2nd half. But my hat's off to O'Connor.

nice Warren sucker punch! i like how you grouped them with Jay and Taft. Madison is going to have problems with Tivy next week. The Antlers are basicly on offince 1 OL man, 1 QB and 9 WR. Madison may have to score 80 to win against Tivy, but that's what madison does...right

I tried to keep that subtle.... leave it to you to draw attention to it. lol

Madison always seems to be able to adjust their defense to the opposing offense. The only offense I've seen them have trouble with is the power game. If Tivy doesn't have a strong power game, i don't see Madison having the same problems Roosy did.

Just wait...

Back to Johnson vs Brandy. Johnson's JV team got beat by two scores yesterday if that tells anything.

What does a JV team at Johnson look like if their varsity team is made up of freshmen sophmores and juniors? Freshmen team made up of 7th and 8th graders?

Well, Brandeis wound up taking this one 20-17! Congrats to the Brandies Broncos on starting off the school record 1-0. And congrats to the Johnson Jaguars for a hard fought first game.

I'm going to be brutly honest. Johnson has a Freshamn A and Freshman B and a JV A and a JV B. Can the JV A team win some Varsity games? I think so but they will have to play some flawless ball to do so.

There are no Freshman that I am aware of on any team except Freshman squads. Johnson and Coach Rittimann are definatly setting themselves up for next year. They have talent at the Freshman level and need to grow at the next level up.

Johnson went 1-3 against Brandies this weekend.

That is a smart move by the Fab Four (Rittiman, Pederson, Cueva, Geselle). This first year will be painful, but it's not like anyone was expecting a playoff berth anyway. Saving the Frosh and part of the JV squad for the future is how it's done. Their year will come. I'm predicting 2011. Johnson's first playoff in 2011. You read it here first sportsfans!

Yes lastnights game was close. Our defence was good and made lots of big stops and forced 3 turnovers. Its out offence that needs alot more work. Our O-Line just doesnt have the size or talent to stop the other team most of the time. But next year we will be better if out kids getting moved up from JV and Freshman teams are willing to play hard.

half. It's unfornute the QB got injured would a been a much closer game. Congrat's to Escudero #33 FB for O'Connor on making Offense Player of the game for OC.

I hope you are right, but I have my doubts. I've seen this years group of Freshman the last 2 years and there isn't a lot of skill position talent. They have a few good players, but not in numbers you'll need to make the playoffs in 26 5A.

Well, maybe 3 years is generous. It took Reagan around 5-6 years to make a playoff berth and now I would consider Reagan a constant contender in 265. I imagine Wagner will make the playoffs this year, but it would have been another 2-3 years if they'd stayed in the district. It may be a while for Johnson, but I'm happy to have a new N.E.I.S.D. school in the district.
