Hat's off to Dunbar for accepting this game at practically the last minute. Great bunch of kids and along with their band and fans.

They did score 14 and those were not fluke scores. They sustained long drives down the field and put it in.

Dunbar gets a lot of credit for taking this game. The Wildcats never quit and contiued to play hard. They had some very costly turn overs. I thought the on side kick was one of the best I have seen. I"m glad the 2nd unit got to play the 4th QT. The Dunbar band and dance team provided the fans with an entertaining show. I think we may see them in the post season.

Hats off to Dunbar for taking this game on short notice and for playing hard for 4 qtrs......not everyone is willing to play a top 10, state semi-finalist team from a higher classification. AHS looked solid on both sides of the ball.....especially defense. AHS dominated this game. 34-0 in 2nd qtr....37-7 at half....51-7 at start of 4th qtr. Dunbar didn't get a first down until mid 2nd qtr on their only real TD drive of the game. Their other TD came on a 40 or so yard pass against backups mid 4th qtr.....White from Dunbar made a great catch on that play. AHS offense looked good.....Bass rushed for over 100 yds and had 80 or 90 yards rcvg. I think they had 6 or 7 different kids get at least one reception with Bass the leading receiver for AHS......Warren looked good at QB...only remember one bad decision all night...he was lucky that one wasn't picked off...it hit a Dunbar dback in the hands...overall he was very accurate and efficient running the offense. Defense was DOMINATING!!!! Dunbar only sustained one drive all night..... they only got across the fifty one time against the starting D. Williams created problems for Dunbar all night....he made 2 great plays resulting in fumbles....one was returned for a 30 yard TD on a 4th and 1 play in the 2nd qtr. Overall it is hard to gather much from this game......AHS rolled over a team they should have. We should know more over the next few weeks when we play Plano East, Cooper and Tyler Lee.

I wouldn't put too much into this game on how good any of our units will really be. Dunbar was just over matched in every aspect of the game and we could have won with our backups in the entire time. I think the only real test it may look like we get this year during the regular season will be Tyler Lee.

to the abilene fans on this board for your kind words, as a dunbar alumni,
i knew we were in way over our heads in taking this game, abilene is stout,
dunbar has some talented players but, not at that level, it was a good learning experience for the players and coaches at dunbar, for i am sure
we wont play a better team all season..good luck and good health the rest
of the season, i wish yall much success unless some kind of way yall
play trinity, for while im a big fan of my alma mater dunbar,

the EULESS TRINITY TROJANS are still my favorite football team...

thanks. i know this isnt one of those games thats gonna "show where abilene is" but i just wanted an idea of how the game since im a lil ways away now. as for tests...tyler lee will probably be the toughest, maybe all season, but i wouldnt look past cooper or pesh. coops gonna be hungry although abilene should beat them...and not playing in week 9 will feel weird. and pesh will not be a pushover playin in their house

Wiz,
Dunbar band and fans were a class act, as were players and coaches. We enjoyed having them in Abilene!:)
