It started out well enough for Westlake. A touchdown on the first drive of the game is always a plus. And if I may say so myself, it was an impressive catch. Then our D stepped up and got an impressive fumble recovery... and then things got ugly for the Chaps. Quarterback Tanner Price would not stop staring down his reciever (on, what was his, right side of the field) and when that reciever wasn't open, he just threw a desperation pass AS HE WAS BEING TACKLED. No, he didn't throw it out of bounds, just up in the air in the middle of the field. 2 Cedar Park players had a chance at getting it, while only one Chap had a prayer. 1 of the Cedar Park defenders prevailed and from there, the Pack picked it up. Their offense ran all over our disappointing D the entire (McK)night. Like I'd been saying to myself in the stands, our D couldn't do anything right, while our offense couldn't do anything at all. Sure, Westlake got 2 TDs in the 4th quarter, but that's too little, too late for the Chaps. We needed points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and didn't get 'em.
Am I surprised that we lost? No, I definitely had my concerns going into the game. Am I disappointed? Yes. We had all the potential and talent to win, we just didn't use it early enough. I will say that Cedar Park deserved it though. I don't care if we do or don't have better talent, they showed they were the better team by putting one heck of a beating on us.
Plus, the Sprite I got from the concessions stand was just carbonated water. :p

well, that fumble was inside the red zone and our QB just didnt think when he pitched it. THat irrelivent though, the game was a great one for Cedar Park. Defense rocked and the running game Dockery, McKnight, Russo and THornhill were great! Oh and Swope is not good at all. Haha totally kidding, the guy is a machine, when he DID have big runs he would shake off (more like throw off) 2 to 3 defenders. It was crazy! Really cool atmoshpehere at Westlake too.
Oh and can CP get some love on these boards? Did it really take that long for a thread on this game to be started!?

What did McKnight finish the game with? Stats wise?

I see that he finished with 16 carries for 161 yards and 3 tds. If you go and look at a previous thread regarding this game, my bold prediction was that, regardless of the score, Dedrick McNight would finish with 250 all purpose yards and have 3 tds. I dont know what he did with his return game and with his catches out of the backfield, but its looking like my prediction was spot on. Hes an electrifying player

I remember your prediction, although didn't comment then, I remember thinking you could be right. And you were.
Coach Ross threw the entire package at Westlake. And at half time the Wolves must have took a swag of Honey Dew Vine Water because CP had the ball for nearly the entire third quater.
They just physically whipped the Chaps tail taking the opening kick off and then gashing the ball up the middle on play after play. When Westlake stopped that, they would swing McKnight out of the back field for a little 10 yard pass. Cedar Park went up 31-7 then just got real conservative and cruised to the win.
Might I say they dominated? After both teams traded missed opportunities in the first half, it looked to me like the Wolves were dictating the tempo and doing pretty much what ever they wanted in the second half. The longer the game went the better CP got.

Remember the line "say hello to my LITTLE FRIEND!!" That's Coach Ross. I said early that any football fan would love to see what he can do with our players. That third quarter 8 minute drive was back breaking for WL.
CPHS coaching staff is pretty incredible. :notworthy

And he actually threw the ball a little, which was nice. Good win for the t-wolves.

Swope's the only reason we did as well as we did. I just wish he didn't have a red-zone fumble of his own. I think it's easy to say that turnovers are a large part of what killed us.

I was actually surprised at how little CP threw. My sarcastic guess would be that there were less than 10 passes.

31 points, throw when you have to and when its effective. If you can run right at people and they can't stop you, why throw the ball up for grabs? Besides, that how you eat the clock. I think from paper qb was 7 for 11 for 100 something yards passing. Very efficient and effective.
Swope is unbelievable. I've never seen a high school athlete as smooth as he is. He's a special talent. We go from him, to Lache Seastrunk this week to Garrett Gilbert next week. Rock and roll!

Yeah, I fully understand the "ain't broke, don't fix" thing. If that works for you guys, you should keep it up.
We get Gilbert this Thursday on ESPN2...
I only hope the team gets its act together.

Lake Travis runs hurry-up no huddle and they run more and are way better on defense.

Cedar Park is a wishbone team! They don't throw the ball! You must have never seen them play.

Wish bone is long gone D-train. You should come to a game yourself. :)

You still run the ball and mix in some option or zone read?

If you had to put a name to it I think it would be the flex-bone.

Can anyone post the boxscore? I have an interest in the Thornhill kid from CP.

Austin American Statesman does a decent job. so far that is the only thing I can find on-line. Although, we'll have more later. here is a link to the team stats.
