1: Texas
2: Miami
3: USC
4: Va Tech
5: Alabama

Miami is better the the 3 below them just becasue of there defense. Va tech doesnt really drop out in my opinion simply because Miami's D is just that good. Usc is all offense there defense really isnt that good, Stanfors should have scored more then 21. Alabama's defense is doing what they need to do to keep Bama winning, No offense since porthro got hurt.

Top 5 as of this weekend:

1) Texas
2) USC
3) Miami
4) Notre Dame
5) LSU

Bama and USC are overrated... Bama will lose this weekend agianst LSU... So Cal will lose to either Cal or UCLA (If they can rebound). Notre Dame should be a one loss team that should be contending for the #2 spot IF a flag would have been thrown in the USC game.

Rose Bowl- Texas over Miami

2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Miami
5. Alabama

The king is the king till they get knocked off so USC has to be #1 though Texas is damn close. Penn State is the best one loss team in the nation IMHO. They are one play away from being undefeated playing in a good conference. Miami is in the same boat. Alabama isnt a great team, but they are unbeaten in the SEC which ranks them higher than any other 1 loss team in my book.

cal and ucla both are terrible, don't expect either of them to be within 21 of usc. ucla was easily the most overrated top 10 team in the last two years

1.USC
2.Texas
3.Miami
4.Alabama
5.Georgia

USC is not overrated, they are one of the two best teams on college football, it was this same overrated garbage that people were spewing last year and all they did was crush OU in national title game.

Texas is as good as USC, its just hard to rank them above USC till USC loses. I think Texas will be the team to defeat USC.

Miami, a dominating defese that is as fast as any in the country. Makes you wonder where they would be without that loss to FSU

Alabama, same as Miami, its just their offense is worse than Miami, Prothro really hurt the Tide

Georgia, im not ready to give up on the Dawgs, if Shockley stays healthy then they beat the Gators, I still think their defense is one of the best in the country and that Mark Richt is as good a coach as you will find in the country. I dont think Georgia will lose another game.

USC has a terrible Defense that will give up enough points to make the UCLA/Cal games interesting... UCLA may be overrated as a top 10, but they were caught looking ahead of themselves in the Arizona game. UCLA will put up a good fight; the best of a team always comes out against their rival or a team that is ranked higher in the polls (OkSt homecoming v Texas). We shall see if I am wrong when the final polls come out... as of now... that is what I think.

Do not forget that Alabama has LSU this weekend, and then there will only be two undefeated teams.

i must admit pen state is playing exceptionaly well at the moment but im rooting for OSU to win the big 10 it looks better for Texas, also Texas fans need tech to finish undefeated and kick *** in what ever bowl game they get.

1) USC (9-0)
2) Texas (9-0)
3) Miami (7-1)
4) Notre Dame (6-2)
5) Penn State (9-1)
6) Ohio State (7-2)
7) Georgia (7-1)
8) Alabama (9-0)
9) LSU (7-1)
10) Virginia Tech (8-1)

I named my Top 10, because it has been a very long time since we have had such a potent Top 10. At least 15 or 20 years...going back to when Florida, FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Penn State and Alabama were the super powers of college football, year in and year out in the 80's and 90's!

The great thing about all of these programs is that they have played each other! (< With Georgia being the exception. Alabama plays LSU this weekend!) And except for Va Tech - in which they had 6 turnovers in the loss against Miami -, none of these teams have been blown out. If they lost, it was to solid programs...and it usually went down to the wire! My point is that any Top 10 match-ups would make for great playoff games....or great bowl games, if not great NC games! Combined they have a record of 78-9...and only one of those losses was by more than 7 pts.

I applaud the evolution of college football, and look on - with excitment - at what is to come!

1. Texas- When its all said and done they are better than USC
2. USC- Great team and a great dynasty but Texas will win
3. Miami- Exponetially better since the season began, dominating D
4. Notre Dame- seconds away from beating USC and taking down powers left and right
5. Alabama- Barley on the list but they are scrapy and keep finding ways to win even without Protho.

I don't think that you can put Notre Dame in the top 5. They lost two home games even though one was to USC. People seem to just let Notre Dame have a free pass for the Michigan State game. No two loss team needs to be in the top 5 yet.

My top 5

1. USC-- Until they lose, they deserve the number 1 spot. They have an excellent shot at makin history as the first 3-peat 1A champs.

2. Texas-- Probably playing better ball than USC right now, but I subscribe to the philosophy that to be the best, you have to beat the best. They should get their shot at SC in the Rose Bowl.

3. Alabama-- Sorry, I refuse to let a team with a loss leapfrog an undefeated team. If 'Bama loses to LSU or in the SEC game, they should drop. Until then they have earned their spot by not losing.

4. Miami-- Impressive win versus VT, BUT-- they have lost a game. Until someone in front slips up, they don't deseve to bust the top 3. That is what (should always ) happens when you lose a game-- you don't pass up undefeated teams.

5. Penn State-- Have looked impressive with one loss in a tough Big 10 this year.

I cannot begin to describe how torqued off I am at the AP pollsters this week. I don't care how ugly 'Bama has been winning, they have done what only 2 other teams in the country have done-- stayed perfect. They have done it in the SEC, no less, which is hardly C-USA or Mountain West. Miami, as impressive as they have played, especially against VT, has a loss. I am just too old school here-- you reward perfection, regardless of how the team got there.

It was bad enough how Auburn got gypped last year. If for some reason SC or UT slips, and Miami gets the Rose Bowl spot over 'Bama, it would be the biggest travesty ever in College Ball. Once Alabama loses, by all means jump Miami ahead of them, but until that time, Miami should have to live with the consequences of losing a game.

1. Texas
Excellent on both sides of the ball and thats what makes them #1.
2. Miami
After seeing them battle Florida State til the end, they proved they are one of the best and have one of the best D in the nation.
3. USC
Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush period.
4. Penn State
Proven themselves many times offensively.
5. Notre Dame
Proved they were one of the nations best football teams by giving USC a fight.
