You'll get different answers to this question depending on people's perspective, and whether you include fans. For instance, I've seen folks on the forum complain that SV doesn't kneel during injuries, and many recall the fan's vandalizing Judson's buses at SV last year. I know SV team and Coach Hill are all class, but there is always incidents that others will hold against you to say, "see they're jerks just like everyone else".

Isn't class a reflection of the coaches? Good coaches will show players how to play to win with class and lose with dignity. Class happens from the top down, not from the other way round. There has already been a thread about the best coaches. The coaches on that list run very classy programs.

The classiest team I saw this year was Huntsville -- followed closely by Nacogdoches. It starts....and ends with the coaches.

I agree. Katy has one of the top and most consistent programs in the state. Yet, you don't see their fans spending all their time on the boards constantly bragging about their potential for greatness. Wish more of us would use their example.

Thanks LUFPAN! Some people don't seem to think the same about Katy, but hey, you can't please everyone. Lufkin has been a pretty classy group as well.

I have to give credit to Allen Wilson. He has done his best wherever he has coached (mostly lower socioeconomic backgrounds) to teach the kids some respect for opponents. The Dallas Carter you see now isn't the Dallas Carter that I used to see in the 80's. I give him a thumbs up.

Clear Creek
Back when the season was still starting and we were all still playing non-district a bunch of the Clear Creek players got together and raised money for a Kingwood player that couldn't play because he had cancer. They did this without the coaches help and without a request, just some guys researching kingwood football found out about this guy and did what they could to help him.

I would have to second the motion on the Clear Creek squad being a class act. The following article from their site backs this up.

Last season I was impressed with the Abilene, Lufkin, Katy, Denton Ryan and SV fans and teams. I would like to think that there was mutal admiration coming from the SLC fans to the fans of the above mentioned teams. Nothing but respect to all the teams that I have seen SLC play. There might have been a bit of cockiness going into the Katy game but a dose of mortality was given to SLC. I think you will see a confidance in the SLC bunch, but not arogance.

Plano East has a tradition of "Winning with Class". The fans are great and always show respect and appreciation to visiting teams and bands etc. I have never seen any "situations" at East football games and I have only missed 1 or 2 games a year (home & road) for the last 7 years.

We had high expecatitions and things never went our way.. we could have given up but we never did.. we kept fighting. We never threw one punch or said one negative remark to the other team. We walked away from trouble. It shows that a coach can be successful even without a losing season and I think we were the classiest team in our district. As far as the teams we played:
The Good: Arlington Bowie, North Mesquite, Irving MacArthur, South Grand Prairie, Irving Nimitz
The Bad: Irving, Grand Prairie(would have been Good had they not started to be unsportsmanlike after they knew they were going to lose)
The Ugly:
-Flower Mound: "Hey, lets run up the other team's sideline after we pick off a pass and scream in the whole teams face as we run up the sideline!" and "Since we are down at halftime, lets spit on the visitor's locker room gatorade cups"
-Trinity: "I just got burned by that reciever for the 20th time tonight, but the QB didn't get the ball out to him, so I own him and can dance around and celebrate wildly when the ball was overthrown which would have been a TD had it been caught." and "Let's cheap shot a backside reciever into the sidelines when the refs aren't looking!" and "Let's show up to Bell's game when they play North Mesquite, sit behind their bench and throw/spit on them!"
-Coppell: Never had I heard as many racial remarks than I did that night. The ONE time out of 100 the refs actually made a call in our favor 3 or 4 of their guys started to yell at the referee like they were tough. If we did what they did our coach would bench us instantly and probably kick us off the team.

Their football team wasn't so hot, but their band kicked *** and the SLC fans let them know that they were appreciated.I've been attending Texas high school football games since 1989. I've also heard dozens of bands in marching band competitions, including several state championship bands.
The Richland band performance was the most moving performance that I've ever seen. The marching was really good, but the SOUND was spectacular. Perhaps the perfect evening conditions made the sound travel better. We could hear every instrument. It was moving to the entire SLC home side. We couldn't stay seated. We all had to stand and recognize that marvelous performance.
I hope the Richland band and fans understood how much we appreciated what they did.

As I recall from past drummings of Evangel, that Evangel were always the starters of any fight. Any classlessness has always been fixed with some "inspiration" from the coaches. As far as being rednecks, I'd say the general wealth of the area, coupled with the large black population, you'd be hardpressed to find a redneck on that team.
The guy I grew up with was Doug Cox. Sheesh that guy was a jerk if ever I knew one, but he certainly would be the first to cross the field in a loss to congratulate the coach and team.

You'll find the majority of the good ole boys down the road in Marshall. I'm sure Longview has its far share, but the only way to find them is to hang out in Walmart long enough (a situation I loathe and avoid.)

I watched the game on TV and saw (I should know his # but I cant remember for sure #8 maybe? I know his name but won't say it here) Ryan's DE grabbing our QB's facemask with one hand and tryin to punch through the mask with his other hand. It really too bad. This guy is really talented and one of Ryan's best players. I would say this was just frustration boiling over but I remember him from last years playoffs and I saw a late hit and plenty of taunting. I'm afraid that's just who he is.
I know this one player does not represent the entire Ryan team and I still have a ton of respect for Coach Florence's team.

gonna have to agree with that, not just because i went there. But i guess by going there and playing FR and JV gave me alot of experience to how the program is run.
Westlake is also one of the top academic schools in the state, they come out play their game, congratulate the other team, and leave.
Campus is very clean and safe, very little by way of drugs, no gangs, grafitti, no guns.
It is one of the most well disciplined group ive seen.

Hey all student sections are rowdy. You can't stop that. But as far as East fans and the team overall, they have little or any class. I am a student at Plano and we support our team without violence and nothing but respect is given to the other team after the game is over. FM definately deserves being mentioned as "classless". What looked like a horrific knee injury to one of our players they were laughing it up on their sidelines and I counted one man that took a knee. Just One. That's classless.

I was tempted to just to ignore this, but I couldnt as the subject was the class of the Trinity team and community. I respected ur brutally honest post following the Trinity-Bell game until u offered ur typically conceited opininon that's seemly gotten more bitter as the weeks have past since the game. First of all perhaps the reason the player was happy that your team didnt even show up on the score board before he took his seat on the bench shortly after halftime. And having attended the game, there were NO blatantly obvious cheapshots at that game. I can even recall noting to myself how clean the game was on both sides considering the nature of the rivalry, other then of course ur joke for a classy team running on to the field during the playing of our alma mater. You can claim it as aaccident but many of ur teammates had no problems whooping it up before the game. Hence ur principal had to apologize for the way u guys embarrassed the entire community. As for ur North Mesquite game I highly doubt a Trinity fan would waste almost 10 bucks to attend ur games, thats 3 hrs that u cant get back, and could of been spent watching Trinity or doing just about anything else. Did you ever think it was ur own "great" fans sitting behind u, the ones who wore NO HOPE shirts later in the season. Perhaps the 7-29 performance u gave them left a bad taste in their mouth.
