VR never made playoffs in 4A, but beat a 5A district champion in their first game in 5A! No feeders hurts AISD schools, and small enrollments. AISD can only compete if they have all-star squads, like the Griffins, 2001 Reagan was loaded with speed, and last year LBJ was loaded.

I dont wanna be the one to start the 16-5a dominance over 25-5a again, but.....

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

But on a serious note, what happened? How did this go down. I see on prepcastlive that calvin thompson and Taylor McHarge had big games, but how did the defending 25-5a champs let this happen?

Vista Ridge is not that bad; they almost beat Connally and state champ Austin Lake Travis last year... almosts dont count, but VR was in a tough 4A district last year.

We all know the answer D-train and LL3033. District 16-5A IS, what District
25-5A never was!! They play for REAL in Williamson county baby!

I'll post here what I did on the other thread.

Way way too sloppy for Bowie tonight.

2 failed 4th down conversions in VR territory.
Punt snap over the head of the punter for loss of 33 yds to setup VR touchdown.
Allowing a kickoff to bounce, thinking it would go out of bounds, and letting it get recovered inside your 40.
Snapping the ball over the QB's head in VR territory.

Just pretty ugly. They'll learn from it and get the kinks out for next week.

Add to that allowing a KO return for TD after grabbing momentum in the 3rd qtr. That was a back breaker. Bowie was down 12-7 at half and got the 2nd half kickoff. 3 plays and a TD. All running plays. Just gashed VR's defense. 14-12. VR gives the ball back and Bowie scores on 1 play. Bowie had 104 yards and 2 TDs on 4 plays in the span of a minute to take a 21-12 lead. That should've been game. But VR returned that kickoff to the house and it got momentum back.

Just a perfect storm last night for VR. Bowie had mistake after mistake and lost by 2. I was not really upset. Slightly shocked, but I knew if our offense had a hiccup (1st qtr - 2 failed drives on 4th down), and our defense was still going through on-the-job training, it could go badly. They'll learn from this.

Do you know who by chance returned the td? Drew Coleman? Calvin Thompson?

Bisson returned the KO for the touchdown.

This is definitely a bowie perspective. yes, i agree, bowie played a little sloppy, but how can you not say VR did the same? they had 5tds, and ZERO extra points. apparently their starting kicker was hurt and their backup was not getting the job done. he only kicked off about 35 yards or so may i add, which allowed Bowie to dominate the special teams game. VR made many mistakes, its not like bowie just played terrible and VR got lucky. they are a legit contender as much as anyone else, besides SP, they got it locked up. That may be hard to swallow for most people on this board.
