Why have that many players on your varsity, especially 16 sophmores? You have enough juniors and seniors, really only about 35-40 kids play and the others are there to intimidate the opposition and be cheer leaders.

I would expect this number to go down (if it hasn't already) as I think they are carrying extra (similar to the playoffs) for this Labor Day's trip to the Burger King Challenge in Dallas.
Though the program has grown crazy again with over 100 freshmen out and the enrollment was up 332 students on the first day of school.

Dawg, where'd you get your numbers? We have 60 counted them at picture day yesterday. Not too many Seniors though. Total enrollment for us is 1981. Far below 5A level. Smallest enrollment for a 5A school in texas?

I got the Bowie, Pville and VR numbers from the coaches themselves. Leander's roster is online. Leander's may not be up to date because of that fact.

Unstable demographics to draw from, single parent households that move alot. Note Cedar Hill won state, only had 4 sophmores. The better your program, usually are gonna have less sophmores if any. Leander also had very few. When I was at Reagan, we had 45 on varsity, but ZERO sophmores! Our JV was sophmores and inexperienced juniors. When I was a sophmore, we had about 65 players on JV nearly all but 3 were sophmores and the freshmen had 80-100 players. Those days are long gone at Reagan, but you can see where a team is going if they depend heavily on sophmores and don't have many seniors. We had very talented folks on our JV, guys that won the 100 and 200 in sprints on freshmen team, but they still played JV and only went up to varsity for the playoffs.

Kids quit sports to graduate and get jobs for girls. When I was in school girls loved Reagan letter jackets.

He's now going on his second year at UT made the Dean's list both semesters last year. Of course this doesn't work for many kids but in mine it did.

Kids need to concentrate on being kids and that means being expert students, not trying to make a living to buy shoes and cloths to show off to others. Most of these working kids are not very good students anyway. I had a kid that worked on the UT campus in the Union Wendy's and he used his mother's illness to miss school, but he never missed work and he would always show up to show off his new clothes or shoes.
