can Reliant Stadium host games? That would be sweet. If say the Dragons make it that far and Katy survives, could Reliant be the host?

I believe I read somewhere recently that Reliant wouldn't be available for post-season High school... Don't quote me on that though.

The Texans are playing at home on Dec. 18th so that will probably rule out Reliant Stadium.
what about Austin or College Station?

Why would the Texans playing at home on December 18th, rule out a high school game on the 17th. Correct me if I am wrong, but in Texas Stadium they play high school on a Saturday and NFL on a Sunday.

that is true i think, also as long as they dont have natural grass they should be fine, turf doesnt get chewed up..

Didn't Reliant Stadium ever host High School Football Championship Game? If so, than maybe they will do it again which would be very awesome!

reliant was going to host the state final two years ago, but, they had the turf out for some reason and it couldn't be played there. They will only host the state final if it doesn't conflict with the Texans schedule. The day before their game is probably not going to work for them. They want the turf in as good of shape as is possible. It is a natural turf by the way. Maybe if it was chewed up a bit they would win a game!

It's pure garbage. The Cowboys deserve credit for letting teams play there. Houston misses out in this deal. Dallas is a better town and always has been.

I say Fox Sports should nail down the Waco Stadiums. They could do the following:
4A D1 at Waco Stadium
5A D1 at Floyd Casey
or do a double header at Floyd Casey then the following weekend do the same thing for the DII titles. That way the HS football fans can see four state title games televised plus it is centrally located in Texas. May not work out for a half way point for two teams but would get the most central stadiums that could hold the crowds.

my thoughts exactly. i love the waco stadia. great facilities both, and very hs friendly. not so big that you feel like intruders.

Floyd Casey - I have been to several playoff games there in late November on Saturday evenings and froze to death every time. I sure like the indoor venues to take the weather out of the equation but with the Alamo Dome out of the picture and the Astro Dome situation it looks like we are in for some cold and probably wet games in the later rounds.

How about Kyle Field – it will not be in use after the next two weeks

Lonny's just mad at Houston because Converse got beat there last year.
Dallas sucks.

From the UIL Web site
Site Of The Game: All potential neutral and home sites (town and stadium) should be designated prior to any coin toss.
GuidelinesNeutral Sites are sites that are approximately mid-distance from the two schools involved or a site or sites the two schools involved agree to designate as a neutral site or sites.
Home Sites are those sites near the home school selected by the two schools involved OR the actual home playing field.A stadium selected as the home site, other than the actual home field, should not be an unreasonable distance from the visiting school’s home stadium.
ExampleSan Antonio and Dallas have not met in the playoffs for the past 2 years (2003 and 2004):
Step 1: Designate potential sites. San Antonio: Belton-neutral; Alamo Stadium-home. Dallas: Temple-neutral; Cotton Bowl-home.
Step 2: Flip for type of site (either neutral or home and home). Heads for home and home. Tails for neutral. Comes up heads.
Step 3: Flip to see who wins home. Dallas calls tails for home. San Antonio calls heads for home. Comes up tails.
Game is played at the Cotton Bowl as the Dallas home site.

That's for sure! It is a good stadium for the playoffs. Good location for Semi's RIII and RIV. It looks like we get back to the days of yore and have to deal with the elements. Makes for interesting football games. How a team handles the elements is certainly part of coaching. Good teams are good no matter the weather conditions.

I don't think A&M has used it yet this year, should be good turf

What the heck is all this talk about having to go back to football in the weather? Every single one of you that wants the games played in a dome to take weather out of the equation is a freakin' pansie! Football is meant to be played outside - just like your Mom used to tell you!

iowa state used it and abused it. the aggie defense has been abusing it all year by playing keep away from the guy with the ball.

Reliant Stadium has GRASS. There is no artificial turf. The Reliant Astrodome has turf, but I don't recomend playing there. That place is old and falling apart.
Dallas is still the better of the 2, but not because Houston isn't going to allow high school to play the day before a NFL game.

Lol yea right, Dallas is old and Houston is new in most places. I think Houston people are more nicer also. Houston would be my 2nd pick where I want to live like River Oaks.

I agree, for the most part. I for one miss those games at Alamo Stadium--a place with a personality that's saturated with so much history. Judson's had some good experiences there, for the most part (even the games they lost, save for the Aldine blowout in '89 under a frozen, leaden sky). Hopefully the spacecraft systems survive a little longer for this present Rocket mission to pass through there, possibly Converse one more time, or maybe Bucaneer Stadium (anotehr history-saturated facility)---and hopefully ultimately Floyd Casey or Rice Stadiums (also two nice facilities I wouldn't mind visiting once more). Even if Judson doesn't, more power to those from Reg. IV who will before all's said and done this season.

Absolutely agree! Weather is for the fans, not players. I watched both the 4A (SV v DR) and 2A (Blanco v Van Alstyn) super-soaker finals in Waco in 2001 and saw some of the best games ever. Weather doesn't really change the entire complexion of the game, unless the wind is blowing at 35 mph.
