what things do you see that your teams coaches were not able to get fixed,
and the things that you are surprised that they got accomplished.

For Westlake – what needs to be fixed and has not been addressed is the predictable play calling on first down. 70% of the time they run a straight dive off tackle. If Dornack or Minor are healthy it usually nets 4-5 yards, but Minor has been out for the last two games so it goes for no gain. Even my wife can predict the first down call, all the opposition needs to do is put 8 or 9 men in the box and they stuff the play. they need to get some imagination into the play calling. This is where Schroeder (former coach who called the O plays) is really missed; you could not predict what he was going to do. Here is my advice for the WL O Coordinator; try some play action passes off the dive.

How about moving into another district. I still think if we were in the same district that we were in in 02/03 we would be in the playoffs right now as the 2nd place team.
But apart from that we had probably our best team(player/talent wise) in school history this year and only went 3-7, and that was because a lack of execution and being rather uncomfortable with our new system. Give it another year and I think it will be much better. Also being below 20% in the red zone didn't help either.

For Judson is was the Offense (new) it never got off the ground. In the end they started going back to the basics and it showed. I still believe that they need to change somewhat, but it was not working for most of the year. The coaches must do abetter job going forward, or Rocket-ball could go down the drain.

Team did much better then the past 4 years but the team still lacks disciplinant. It starts at practice and continued through the games. We even had a "star" player get kicked off the team this week for cussing out a coach only to see him back by mid week. Don't see it changing with the coaching staff that is there. It is what it is. :(

It looked like Carter was going back to the same old run every down offense this last regular season game, but second half coach Wilson did what has started Carter's succees this year....Passing. Michael Crabtree has been a great QB in a system that rarely ever passed the ball in the past and they are getting points off of these passes. He went 8 of 11 for 118 yards with 3 touchdown passes against Skyline. With the few amount of attempts he took, those are great numbers when mixed in with the still very potent run game. We also improved this year on a weak middle from last years team on defense. They have stopped some big time backs this year. The outside is shut off as well because of the speed on the defense. We've had pretty good success with the pass D in previous years as well as this year. The only thing I feel that we have problems with are penalties, but we'll overcome.

Longview really made a commitment to the passing game this season. It has really shown the past few weeks. Freeman's completion percentage is higher and I think we are 3 games ahead in terms of pass yds from last year. People are still skeptical but I guess they will have to find out for themselves.

WHO!!!WHO!!!!WHO???are these skeptics?? I think you guys from Longview are just starting to like to hear others compliment your team a lil' to much. You guys are good. Most of us get it and most of us will openly admit it. Smile and just enjoy the ride. :)
