2005 State Playoff Brackets (http://www.5atexasfootball.com/stateplayoffs.htm)

We are entering the most wonderful time of the year, indeed. The Texas high school football state playoffs are upon us, and 96 teams now turn their collective focus towards the ultimate team goal. A state championship.

The change is tangible in stadiums around the state once the playoffs begin. You can feel the added anticipation and electricity as you enter the stadium. You see it in the way the players move. You sense it with every play, and hear it in every drum beat. This is not "just another game".

The finality of it all is what makes things so dramatic. Win or go home. The margin for error is reduced to almost nothing. Every game is a championship.

For seniors, a childhood of preparation comes down to these final battles together with teammates they've grown up with. It is time to draw on every lesson learned and value gained such as trust, desire, discipline and honor among others. A band of brothers embarking on a quest for greatness. This is sport in its purest form.

No team, regardless of reputation or past success, is guaranteed anything in the playoffs because of the name on the front of their jerseys. Any team with a desire to win it all must knuckle up and go earn it regardless of pedigree.

96 teams have the same dream right now, but only two will emerge with the hardware once the smoke has cleared.

The ultimate prize is now out for the taking. Who has what it takes to seal their place among Texas high school football immortality?

The state playoffs are here. Are you ready?

If you still get the projected brackets, back out to the playoffs home page and hit shift+refresh.

Is there going to be any kind of bracket contest? I dont know if you guys have done anything like that in the past, but that would be kind of fun...

Euless and SLC are breathing a sigh of relief, almost all season it was looking like they might have to play each other in the 1st round.

I'll set up the bracket maker thing again this year so we can pick it all the way through. That is free for all to join.

As will Lufkin vs. Longview and Lufkin/Longview vs. Carter/JT/Garland in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Depending on how it goes down. Of course I have my own thoughts on how it will go down :D

Don't forget, Cove and Leander might want a say in the matter too.

I honestly don't know how good they are compared to Carter, JT and Garland, but they certainly won't be a pushover.

Both the Houston Chronicle (iffy) & Browmsville Herald (which should know) have San Benito in over Harlingen South.

Hays, you ain't never seen speed like Lufkin's speed. That could be a very ugly game. If Westlake can make Amadeus look slow and hold him under a 100, then Lufkin will completely stop him in his tracks.
