View Full Version : Question about Samsung Insinct

Why all the great reviews? I work with phones all day and my GF just got an Instinct today...it is crap. Idk if it's Sprint's layout or if the phone just lacks features, but the 2.0mp camera struggles to take a clean picture, it's constantly giving a "warning, blurry picture" alert, text messaging settings are non-existant or impossible to find, the camera lacks features, can't figure out how to zoom or change any of the functions except go to the video recorder, the menu layout is terrible.

Like I said idk if it is sprint that screwed it or samsung, but i'm not impressed. I looked through the manual to figure it out and it just doesn't have features that i'm used to seeing on the dare and the voyager. Maybe I just couldn't find some of the features, but that's pretty bad. I'm very quick with figuring out electronic devices, hell I work around cell phones every day. I figure them out. So making a phone with hidden settings is stupid. Making phones with settings that don't exist is even dumber. You can't even set up a signature on the Instinct.

Can anyone tell me why some places ranked the Instict over the iPhone 3g and ranked the dare 3rd? It's rediculous.

but you are correct on your inspection of the instinct. I as well thought it was a really great phone when introduced, and i still think its a pretty good phone. But I bought my girl one when it came out, and she agreed with what you said about all those settings being hard to find, and now she wants to go back to her treo

I think you are confused... the Instinct is a cell phone not a digital camera.

It doesn't matter, there are other things about it that don't make sense either. I wondered how it was so inexpensive at 129

and Yeah it does get better service than AT&T but not better than my 8550 from Verizon

Uh, that's a big negative. Sprint's reception gets continually worse, from what I've seen. My mom's phones barely work inside her house in the city, and don't try to text... you have try at least 5 times before it'll go through.

Sorry, no.

haha. I have the instinct and I enjoy it. There is no way it is better than the iphone though. It took me about a week to fully understand everything about it but it is very easy to use now....I am not sure what you are having a problem with????

I agree that the cell phone camera is not the greatest but I have never really used it very much. The live search option on the phone is the best feature on the phone. Just speak the name of any business into the phone and it tells you how far you are from it, the phone number, a map, and directions. I use it all of the time.

no sir, you are a big negative. If you're talkin about their CUSTOMER SERVICE then yes it get worse as your contract goes on. but their reception would probably best. but just because it doesn't work in your moms house doesn't mean it sucks.

It doesn't work in a lot of places. Like right in front of their corporate HQ in Kansas.

There's a reason Sprint only advertises their prices and not their service or network reliability.... because they'd risk lawsuits for false advertising.

You get what you pay for.

Yeah. I have Verizon so we pretty much get the shaft as far as phones. I have the Glyde and I like it. Touch screen is kind of quirky at times but it is definitely better than my old phone, which isn't saying too much though.

I never had any problems with Sprint as far as reception.

The only thing I hated was their picture mail...it takes you to a website just to download a freakin' picture....and you have to add a dataplan because it uses "data" to see a picture someone sends you.

I liked my last samsung. This phone works just fine....so what the camera phone isnt very good....if you are taking lots of pictures you should get a freakin digital camera. As far as service goes....I have never had any problem. I can't ever think of a time that I was out of service or that I dropped a call.

I never understand why people complain about cameras in a phone. I use my camera in my phone but not for high quality pics. Its usually when i see something funny that I'll take a pic and send to friends. I am not printing out these pics and putting them up in my office. I have a nice Sony digital camera for that.

that's actually a security feature sprint has when you're sending nude or explicit photos. it directs you to a website to downlaod it.

The Glyde is the crappiest Voyager, Dare, Glyde trio...

The camera was just one thing I didn't like at first glance. It seems to be a decent phone, but anyone who buys the Instinct, the Dare, the iPhone, or the Vu is not getting just a phone. they are getting more. That's why I say it's funny that the Instict is ranked better than the iPhone. The Telenav works well, the music player is decent, text messaging is nothing special, the shortcut menu works well, internet speeds are okay. All in all it's a great phone, but not better than the iPhone or the Dare.

Rocket, you deal with phones right?

In your opinion what is the best sprint phone?

Blackberry Curve?

Well I work at Verizon Wireless so I don't really know much about Sprint phones but from how everyone is saying the Instinct is Sprints best phone ever, I would say the Curve isn't a bad choice. Once you get to know the Blackberry OS it'll be much easier than when you first get it. Very secure phone with good internet speed because of how the encryption or w/e works. I deal with the VzW Curve, my gf had a AT&T curve, and both are good.

Personally, I don't like Blackberry. I like touch screen w/ a physical keypad. Personally, I like the Treo's. I can't wait until the Treo 800w comes out for Verizon, you might want to look into it for Sprint.
