Allen faces "4A Power House" Longview at the Allen Eagle DoubleWide with Pride Stadium on Friday August 29th. The Eagles come back loaded with an allegedly improved Defense and a proven offense. Longview comes into the non district Week 0 game with Allen in their sights, lots of speed, and nothing to lose.

By some accounts this is not the most interesting game, but we gotta give DB86 an opportunity to vote and show his love for the Eagles... :D

I'm thinking about catching this one myself. Not only to see what Big A is really going to do this year, but also to see what my E. Texas brothers are bringing to the table in the "B" league.

Allen will have their hands full with this one. Should be a great game.

Wow with that logic Plano (5215) should have beat Euless Trinity (2984) and Plano East (5852) should win state every year. :rolleyes:

This game is going to be a really good test for the Allen "D" They were so susceptable to the well executed run last year and it really showed on kick return coverage. With the speed that folks say Longview has it could be a long night.

They were a top 10 to 20 5a team and a team that was capable of beating anybody on any night at the 5a level and absolutely dominated their Dallas area district along with a few good East Texas school's in it. Did they ever lose a game in that district? Just because they have 4a by their name now should not mean much at all. I expect them to win the 4a title and dominate 4a.

Allen should know about east texas team's with a little over 2,000 in enrollment. I remember Lufkin playing Allen several times in the playoffs recently and LP completely dominated. Both games were over at half. It has been proven over and over that once you get at 2,000 enrollment and over then it does not matter. Have seen Lufkin destroy so many school's with a 4 to 5 thou enrollment that I cannot even count them. Means nothing. See SLC also.

If Allen can find some D, watch out. They definitely aren't lacking important returning experience on either side of the ball.

This is will be a great test for them and should give the rest of us some valuable information.

Yup Lufkin has had our number the two times we met. They were sandwiched around that magical 2001 State Championship Year. By the way what's the deal in 2000, you guys smoke us in round 2 only to lose to WACO the next week!!:confused: ;) :D

But, enough about Lufkin this is Longview's Spotlight. I want to hear more about them.

One thing your boys can count on is that L'view will be very fast on both sides of the ball, and they can hit with the best of them.

In the past they have had the tendency to start slow. If they do that you could get a jump on them and hold on tight. If they start fast or if you turn the ball over a time or two, the eagles could be in real trouble. One thing for sure is that once they get rolling, they will be there until the clock runs out.

Should be a great game. Your kids will be a better team either way from playing them. I hope everyone stays healthy.

I did not realize that Longview had only 2 starters back wow that is a huge hit. Longview usually reloads with talent and speed though. Last time LP had only 2 or 3 returning in 01 they went to the state semis and blew a huge lead to SLC. It can be done.

5a East Texas teams have 2 state championship and about 5 or 6 other state semi appearances a finals appearance in this decade alone with only a few teams in 5a. If that is a dead zone then I am not complaining. ;)

I was hoping noone would say anything and just let these folks be very surprised when their team loses this game. Thanks for ruining it. Longview has alot of new faces on the field but what most dont know is this could be the best offense Longview has had in a long time...better than 2004-2005 with Vondrell Mcgee and company. I still give the edge to Allen because our defense is very young....but they are very talented so I if they can grow up really quick I can see us taking it. That is one thing going in Longview's favor.....this team is young with alot of new faces noone knows anything about. We really dont know how this team is going to do until they get out on the field. I know there is alot of talent and potential on the field but we wont know how it all comes together until we play this game. We have great coaches so that is why I am confident alot of people are going to be suprised.

We almost always travel well. I always use this as an example. One game two years ago I showed late to Memorial stadium in Mesquite and went in on the side and walked behind the entrance to the concession and the door was open. Me and my Dad were laughing bc those ppl were sweating and running all over the place trying to serve ppl. We overheard some of them saying they couldnt believe that many ppl showed up to a HS football game....lol

So to make a long story longer I think the same ole crowd will show up.

kind of like South Garland last year....D1 talent all over that team and we beat them by two TDs in the playoffs. I know that has nothing to do with this game but we are a much better team this year. Longview has a very talented defense also but they are just young if they can keep it close through the first half this game will come down to the wire.

Only for a couple more years, new stadium is on next Mays ballot and then however long it takes to build it. So 2 to 3years more in the ole double wide.

PLease don't think that I think much of
this 4-A vs 5-A thang!

I KNOW that there are quite a few 4-A teams that can beat
5-A teams.

All those "A" ltters are because of enrollment NOT
because of talent and COACHING!

I'm thinking that Allen COULD get spanked here.

Look at what happened in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Longview has played with 4A numbers for years if you ask me...but who's asking. Knowing what I know about LV......I wouldn't exactly call the Lobos underdogs in this one....they ALWAYS play the "we only have 3 starters back" card..yet end up with 12 wins....I'm not buyin it...they reload. LV by at least 7.

Longview has a good coach. I was suprised at how little their whole team was last year when Pflugerville played them hell our kicker was bigger than there whole team... But size doesn't matter im sure it will be a brawl longview seems to always do good with what they have. I'll cheer for the lobos.

Wow, That's great!

Lovejoy has been chomping at the bit to get varsity football started. I expect that the atmophere is going to be electric out there for their first home game.

I sure hope somebody is going to take lots of pictures and maybe even some video.

I think the Leopards are going to be much better than all the 3A prognosticators think they are. Might even win district!! :D

I will definetly be there. Good luck to the lobos. I know they will go out and play hard. Don't know much about Allen, but I have only heard good things. It will definetly be a test for us. I just hope everyone on both teams stays healthy.
