If a player went after a fan in the stands, then i would expect he's no longer on the team. No amount of heckling could justify that type of reaction from the field..

If it's true, they need to nip that in the butt

Garland plays lake Highlands ar widcat-ram on Sept !2. That area has gone down in recent years because of thousands of cheap condos and apartments around Skillman/635. Someone on the DMN site said its the section 8 effect. Its actually a very nice area, good nieghborhoods except for that problem.

It only seems to be a problem when kids take it too far and seriously disrespect the other teams, players, fans. Someone claiming to have been at the game posted that the Safety #2 from South Garland was doing the initial taunting. Regardless, Lake Highland folks should not have reacted.

The Coaches are the first ones that need to keep this type of stuff in control. Then the Refs should not let this type of stuff get started or carry on.

Very sad...

I saw the fight from the first scrimmage but did not see the fight last night. I also admit that I might be a bit biased.

From what I have heard about Friday night and what I saw in DeSoto, it would be hard to compare the two.

The fight in DeSoto happened when the coaches were on the field. The DeSoto coaches where very active, involved, and emotional slapping the DeSoto players on the back and exciting everyone when big hits were made. One of the DeSoto receivers block very hard on of the DB and continue after the play and get in the DB's face. (Of couorse I couold not hear anything being said.) The referees never said anything to anyone. After about the third or fourth time, the SG DB pushed back when the receiver got in his face after the whistle had been blown. I felt the SG receiver had been very patient. I chalk up the fight in DeSoto to the referees and coaches. There was plenty of time to stop it.

Against LH, from what I have heard, although any fight is not good, the major problem happened after the initial fight had been dealt with and the young man from SG who was involved was way out of line.

thanks for the update - it seems the first week was within the realm of football and the second week was one player who instigated and then refused to back down. hopefully thats the last we'll see of this type of thing... ghs and sg may be rivals, but i take no joy in seeing that kind of thing happening over there...

Somehow I think Moss would have already had that taken care of

Nip it in the bud, as in pruning a tree.

I guess your way works too.:D
