View Full Version : Saturday GOTW in Houston: Aug 30th

We have four nominees, please vote for the game you'd most like to see on Saturday evening. We'll try to coordinate a meeting of the Houston 5ATF crew after selecting this game on Wednesday August 27th. I hope this can be a season-long tradition, where we all come to break bread, enjoy some football, and talk about what we saw on Friday night. Suggestions on how to make this a bigger deal and improve involvement are of course welcome.

p.s. In my original post on the Gameday board, I had indicated SA Reagan vs. Cinco Ranch, but as it turns out, that game is over in San Antonio. Too bad, I would have liked to have seen Reagan.

The Deer Park / Jersey Village game is at the Berry Center, 6pm kickoff on Saturday August 30th. Who's in?

To be honest, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the support for this Saturday GOTW idea.

Is the Houston 5ATF community interested in this concept? Or should we just bag it?

I am interested, but I need to pick and choose the Saturday games I go to. I am already planning on watching Humble and Cy-Ridge on Friday and I have no real rooting interest. Two of those on a weekend that the season kicks off on my be too much for the rest of my family. I will save the extra hall passes for games late in the season.

no, sounds like a good idea, just wil be out of town sat, so did not vote for this week

It doesn't help that all the marquee matchups are scheduled for Friday. No disrespect to the schools mentioned above, but you really have to have a kid go to one of those schools for any one of those games to be worth the trip.

Strake Jesuit-St. Thomas could be an intriguing game, but of the four listed I'd most like to see Jersey Village. I'm curious to see if they can turn it around after a streak of terrible luck last year.
