It all depends on what team Pearland decides to send to playoffs, the same one that only put up 14 against Clear Lake or the one that put up 44 against Alvin. Personally I think North Shore is winning it all this year, im just getting that vibe from this team.

We have pretty good decent teams on schedule as well...Elsik and Hasting are some good teams. This year was not one of the best for either. But NS plays with good athletes both those teams offer.

The Woodlands - a really strong team to play against. This year we played a messy game against them, luckily we came through and learned some good things out of that one.

The La Porte, Dobie and Deer Park teams are all pretty good teams as well.

NS JUST HAPPENS TO WIN THEM BIG! WHY, BECAUSE IT'S NORTH SHORE AND THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS!!!

but really I guess it's ok for people to keep talking about the lame, weak, sorry teams NS plays, because to them IT'S EASY and they MAKE IT LOOK EASY. Those teams don't suck....NS makes them look like they do!

This has go to be the funniest thing that i have heard all year. Whitaker is good but he isnt barry sanders. No one has been able to run on ns and i mean no one. Hastings i think had the best attempt yet and even when they broke free ns pounded them and made them fumble. Pearland didnt run much on shore last year untill they started passing. And it was the same little dump pass where ns would make the qb scramble and he would luckily get the ball out of his hand as he was going down. ns adjusted to it go an interception and that was the end of that. As far as i see it neither team has played anyone great but north shores schedule is a bit more challenging than pearlands. Yall couldnt beat us when yall had us down at home last year what makes you think that you will come into our house this year and make it any different. And if yall do for some reason get the running game going you still have to stop ours. Did you forget that we put up the 2nd most points up in the state. There a little something to think about all week. we had the best defense and the second best offense as far as numbers so think about that next time you wanna trash shore as a team.

Unless Pearland QB Michael Speciale has the game of his life passing and running in addition to Whitaker, I don't see how Pearland scores more than 10 points against this North Shore defense.

I've seen Katy, North Shore and Westfield in person this year and North Shore has the best defense of the three.

Pearland has played three teams that I'd consider above average defensively in comparison with upper tier teams in the area. They were Kempner, Memorial and Galveston Ball. The most they scored against those teams was 20 against Kempner.

North Shore will not be beaten by a one dimensional offense, so Pearland needs to find some balance in order to keep the Mustangs from just teeing off on Whitaker.

People say were the fozzy show but he only touches the ball on a 1/3 of the plays.

People forget about Marcus Bradley but he is a great changeup to fozzy and can make anyone miss in the open field

I've seen Pearland. They are good this year. This might be your best chance to beat Northshore , but I really think last year was your best chance and it did not happen.
I have also seen Westfield and they are great. So even if Pearland plays the game of their life and beats Northshore.... which the odds are against... Pearland would get absolutely HAMMERER by Westfield. You have to be able to throw the ball well and run also to beat Westfield.
It's a shame an undefeated team has to lose in the first round. I remember in 96 when Humble and Northshore faced in the first game of the playoffs. That was a war.... It was something like 35-31 Northshore.
Northshore has not lost a home game in over 5 years.

Pearland, Pearland, Pearland, i have to commend you on one thing here and that is you stand behind your team 110% and i think every high school in the country should have that same type of fans. Now that being said what you;ll are saying on here is contradicting yourself, last year at the rig yall had the perfect time and place to beat us, clearly we didnt play our best or maybe we werent that good that year seeing as to what happened the week after that. forswhitt was there last year and our defense was young and still trying to find an identity from the dominating defense of the year before. he ran all over our defense last year but this year is a different year he cannot catch us by surprise we will know what he wants to do and how he wants to do it. this years defense will hit you in the mouth and will lay you out. just as Mr. Harrison and i am sure he will answer with a !!!!!!!! mark. We are just fans on this website so we are entitled to our own opinion but you dont know what northshore coaches and players are doing to get ready for this game. but pearland has one problem and it is a major one no passing game you can run all day but ns defense is super fast and forswhitt has not faced that this year. with that said forswhitt if he runs the ball all night he will get 100 yards but i dont see him going over 200. even if he does he will have to score all night because we still have not discuss northshores offense. so tell us how your defense is going to stop our offense.

what hype? he has nearly 200 carries only 15 tds he is only recieving attention because he has alot of yards.. but NS jr RB chris gainous has a blistering 12.3 yds per carry avg and has 1000+ yds on only 88 carries with 13tds... and NS goes 4 Rb deep... so.. if we dont see the hype.. its because we have our own jr RB that with as many carries as fozzy had.. would blow fozzy away in all the stats categories..... yes fozzy is good.. but hes all you got...NS goes 4 deep at RB so gainous doesnt get the carries that 1 man show fozzy gets.... this will be a good game.. but dont tell us how great fozzy is..... we have RB's who are better than your boy. :eek:

Good strong words KT. I have felt that Westfield would have the defense this year and I know Katy is always tough. I know that you really look at these teams in depth before you say anything. Shore surprised me having a D that good this year so coming from you that's quite a lofty compilment. I am a believer in "defense wins championships."

A lot of people make the assumption Northshore wins only because they have great athletes. But they have a great program and that starts with Coach Aymond. He has build a program from the ground up. When he arrived there over a decade ago Northshore had been around for 35 years and never made the playoffs. They have made the playoffs every year since his arrival. His coaching staff has coaches with college coaching experience. Everything is well run and organized. The players and coaches believe in the system and it is fun to sit in the stands and watch 10 year old kids waiting for their chance to be a Northshore Mustang. I have seen them have the better TEAM even when they did not have the best athletes on the field. When you talk about Northshore's athletes vs. Pearland's style, that sounds like by saying"style" you are implying that you have a better system. I disagree. It takes good players and outstanding coaching to win a 5A state championship. The coaches and players of Northshore have done that.

The Pearland team that came off the Hurricane delay and beat Clear Lake has changed considerably in the play selection (like I said before, it was awefully conservative play calling). The last half of the season, there has been an emphasis on the pass which was not executed well in the beginning of the season (or needed for that matter). Pearland is muched improved in that category which will have to be executed against NS as well. Step up to stop run and you will get burned deep. I admit that was missing in the first half of the season which I've stated on this board. This should be a great game and I'm really looking forward to this one.

ok ok ok now pearland has a good squad from what i see on paper i have never seen them in person, but let me tell you this if we step up and stop the run we will get burned, now when you type in 5atexasfootball.com the page comes up and there you see chykie brown one of the states best DB's has already committed to UT. i really dont think we will get beat deep especially by a team that runs all the time and never reallys throws deep. fozzy is a great back but like i said earlier the defense he is facing was the same as last year but stronger and way more physical this year. i just dont see pearland scoring in double figures against this defense but that is my opinion. but friday at the "BIG HOUSE" it is on so bring your A game because the shore sure will.

Pearland must punch them in the mouth from the first snap.....shutting down that explosive NS offense is an imperative.

Pearland only has a rushing offense, which must hold on to the ball.....KEEP NS OFF THE FIELD.....that passing attack will have to show up this week.

cmon. there were two games in which you guys didnt even ATTEMPT a pass... and just because u start to pass late in the season vs average competition.. does not mean you will be ready to beat that speedy and physical North Shore secondary.... in looking at pearland.. you guys are one dimensional..... NS runs a lot as well.. but they have two outstanding weapons with great speed Wide outs in riser and rutland... then they have the offensive line.. and 4 deep running backs......in my mind.. the offense is good... but the NS defense is one of the better ones we have had in a while.. and if fozzy rips this one.. then props to him.. but its highly unlikely he can withstand the heat for 4 quarters.....should be a good game though..my point being is that just because u all of a sudden in the second half of district start attempting a few passes....doesnt make you a threat passing the ball... cmon rik a win is a win.... and "almost" doesnt count.... speciale is no buckner.... it took fozzy having a good game... and buckner having the game of his life.... and right now.. i can see fozzy getting a few yards... will be a sub 100yd game... on about 30 carries.... but there is no one else .. but maybe there is! thats what makes this game a good one... u never know what can happen.... will north shore make it 4 straight over P'land? or will P'land win its first against SHORE... couple more days till game time :eek:

It's not because I say so. It's because this NS team is better than last year. Not quite as good as 03 - and that's only because of Bobby Reid. Everything else is equal as far as talent - speed and power.

All the NS people on this thread have been telling you guys that NS is deep at running back. This is the most impressive group of running backs NS has ever had and that saying something considering all the backs they have had in the past.

That theory sounds nice, the only problem is that "JUMP AHEAD EARLY" part...Rushing offenses don't normally get early leads....they grind them out. I believe the Elkins' game you got a 3 TD lead early.

Therefore Pearland Oilers will need a GARGANTUAN effort from their Special Teams....is Joe Benton up to the challenge, he seems to get his hands on the ball alot. Interceptions are not the Oilers' specialty.....Beating NS is going to require some turnovers.

Northshore is ranked 2nd in Defense and 1st in offense.
I believe in the old cliche' "Defense wins Championships"

It will be a good game, but probably not as close as it was at the RIG.
Northshore has never lost at their four year old "new" stadium.
I don't think they lost at Dement the last two years they were there.
That makes 6 years since a home loss.

Your right Pearland1 there is a first time for everything and if this is to be the year Pearland finally exercises one of its demons then so be it. Pearland can say they played conservative O against Lake (2-8, 0-6) but Lake put up a lot of rushing yards on Pearland's D and held the Oilers to 7 points on a long Whitaker run until about 5 or less minutes left in the game. It will take a superheroic effort by the Oilers to beat North Shore; that coupled with a mediocre game by the Mustangs might just spell a close victory for Pearland. Impossible? No, but highly improbable.

24-5A is extremely weak this season and I mean EXTREMELY WEAK. Our #3 team Creek is going in with a 3-7 record (3-3 in district). I think only Pearland and Ball had winning records. Lake lost to Pearland 14-3 and took Ball to overtime in a 42-35 loss). I would not be at all surprised to see 24-5A go 3 and done this year. I plan to go see Ball play La Porte at Clear Creek District stadium and hope we get one win for 24-5A...I think it is our only chance this year.

What did they have exactly throwing the ball this season? Let's see they were 44 of 84 for a whopping 698 yard and just 5 touchdowns. Now maybe I'm crazy but that's hardly a sign of a passing game.

Where as if we look at the numbers of their first round opponent North Shore we see their numbers look something like this.

89 of 143 for a whopping 1393 yards and 20 touchdowns

So if either team has a passing game I think it would be North Shore.

Now while we are on the subject of who has what and what kind of offense let's take a look at the one thing these two team have in common with one another and that's running the football.

Taking a look at the top four runners from each team we see the numbers stack up something like this.

First off, I like spending time on here, but I have spent my time doing plenty of other things....I think the people on here can feel you in on what!

Second, I've seen Pearland play 3 times this year, and I've only seen North Shore (and Westfield) once! And it doesn't take a genious to know Pearland will need the hand of "Merlin the Magician" to pull out a victory over North Shore. Pearland is good, but if Whitaker wasn't a humongous part of the team they wouldn't be making much of a noise, at all. And that defensive ranking - you gloat about - is not in relation to top tier opponents, therefore it becomes irrelevent, in many different ways!

I do expect a good game, but I expect North Shore vs Westfield to be much, much better!

LOL Yeah it is a luxury not too many folks have. When Lufkin flamed out early in 03. I just got the scarlet and white back out and rode a different horse. Poor Poor Pearland. It is evident you have not seen the top caliber teams play. And yes. This team does remind us of the 03 team. The defense is just as fast and hard hitting. We are 4 deep at running back. Wide receivers are as good as they come at the high school level. Quarterback is experienced (he is no Bobby Reid) and has a good and accurate arm. Offensive line is big and strong. Defense line is big and quick. DB's are fast and aggressive. CB's are D1 material (Brown committed to Texas).

I believe all NS fans on this board will agree with this assessment.

The reason people feel the Westfield game will be better is because Westfield and NS are mirror images of one another. You can't get better than that.

First off, I like spending time on here, but I have spent my time doing plenty of other things....I think the people on here can feel you in on what!

Second, I've seen Pearland play 3 times this year, and I've only seen North Shore (and Westfield) once! And it doesn't take a genious to know Pearland will need the hand of "Merlin the Magician" to pull out a victory over North Shore. Pearland is good, but if Whitaker wasn't a humongous part of the team they wouldn't be making much of a noise, at all. And that defensive ranking - you gloat about - is not in relation to top tier opponents, therefore it becomes irrelevent, in many different ways!

I do expect a good game, but I expect North Shore vs Westfield to be much, much better!

The other two games were for the district championship. So they were playoff like. You guys from Pearland sure have a chip on your shoulders. You don't even bother to read or comprehend the posts. wow, now i wasnt going to say anything i was going to sit here and let pearland talk all of this trash but now it is getting crazy on here. now look first off pearland no one on hear is disrespecting your team by any means. yall always have a great team year in and year out but everything we say on here is totally opinion that all. why cant yall see that. friday is a day away since this day is pretty much finished. i mean we are talking trash like both of our schedules were #1 and #2 hardest schedules in the state. we both played a lacks schedule this year it is not our faults you have play the schedule that you are handed. i am tired of hearing this from different websites and different people on here. this is not madden football we cant pick the schedule that we play every year. if that was the case i am sure coach would play a much harder schedule but when he trys to pick teams to play shore they turn him done. it is not his fault he has built a powerhouse at the shore. i am sure pearland is the same way, they are up and coming in this great state of texas can produce some great running backs and will produce more in time. but when push comes to shove it is hard for these 2 teams because they have to play eachother in the 1st round. with that said i am a true northshore fan played there back in the day with coach aymond, and of course i am going to go with northshore. but two more things before i go one is i am tired of people saying we are looking forward to westfield so pearland is going to beat us. now last time i noticed we are just fans so we can say this but i can gurantee this coach will not let his boys look forward ever again because they did that last year and pearland almost beat us. also that comment about our boys are beat up i dont believe that is true because my friend has a son on the team and i ask him are they ready and he said not only are they ready but glad that they are playing at home. they are focused said they have been focused all year. especially in that woodlands game. so i dont know it is going to be a great game friday night and i cant wait i am saving my voice because i am going to lose it friday cheering those mustangs to victory. but lets stop the name calling on both sides and talk some good ole fashion football aight and friday will do all the talking and who ever wins will get it on this website afterwards. peace until friday at the
