Not really about Texas, but winning in high school in general. But if I could summarize, Southlake Carroll with a 90-3 record for the past six years against the highest level of competition the state of Texas (and Florida) can offer, and the winningest record over the past 20+ years in Texas stands out as the clarion call for the excellence that is Texas High School Football!:p State Title #8 in 2008! Okay, I'm a little excited for the season to get started...aren't we all?

I do Hereby nominate drgnbkr for the 2008 Poster's Choice Awards: Best Segway to Southlake Carrol's Magnificent Record Award. :D:notworthy
I do really wish that someone would do a followup disertation on this subject and use the storried programs in Texas for the case study. This fellow in his paper and the research references he uses have done a pretty good job at laying out the basics of "HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL DYNASTIES: INVESTIGATING THE SOURCE OF THEIR SUSTAINED COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE"
I think the high number of Dynasty Worthy Programs in Texas and the Breadth of top classification schools create a perfect environment to take this subject to the next level.
Here are four of the items included in the Rarity category in this paper:
"...four of the concepts may qualify as sustained competitive
advantage rare resources. The four that qualify with the more liberal definition
are:
1) The importance of setting a good example for the student-athletes;
2) Having continual improvement in the program while in-season;
3) Possessing players who achieve beyond their perceived potential; and
4) Coaches and players having confidence that they are going to win the game.
Good Stuff!! :)

not just good Big Dog, but GREAT. Those 4 points epitomize what every program should strive for.
