It's official, Fossil Ridge beat Denton Ryan and they will go division 1 against Trinity. I think both schools are relieved not to have to play that one right off the bat. Good luck to both schools!

Not exactly quite a few of the Trinity players went to the Grapevine vs. CHHS game, rooting for Grapevine in vain.

That's funny, I sat behind the entire Trinity coaching staff at the Dragon game. They all had their notepads out taking notes and trying to figure out how to stop SC's offense.
About every 5 minutes or so, one of the coaches would jump up and go to the top of the stands with binoculars trying to get glimpse of Colleyville/Grapevine scoreboard. All for naught.

It's too bad, I really wanted to see this game (SC vs. ET).
Plus, after beating ET it would have been a much eaiser road to State.

Well now I can root for ET and the HAKA to win D1.

whats interesting was it seemed to me our offense had a diffrent game plan. seems they did diffrent stuff and what not...also something i notcied about murry, the kid can kick, but hes not consitent, he can make a 40 yarder, then shank it 3 times in a row or something, thats what im afraid of if we have to rely on him, i think he'll come through for us, if need be

I thought Grapevine had to lose to CH? If they didn't, I thought Fossil Ridge had to beat DR by more than 6 points?

Neither of those happened.

Why is SLC going Div II?

dragons08
11-04-2005, 11:09 PM
because CHHS beat GV
and Fridge beat DR

thats all that was needed

Actually I just heard Grapevine won in overtime????

Butch Fifield

didn't Grapevine win? since FR won by less than 6, that would send SLC to Div 1 correct?

If Fridge beat DR at all that put Fridge in and they are a larger school than Carroll or DR....it made Gvine irrelevant

So...Carroll-Trinity is back on?

Was this another case of Dewey defeats Truman?

No, SLC is definitely, 100% D2. Fossil Ridge won, which made Grapevine's win irrelevant.

what is confusing me is the thread from a few days ago that said....

Its Set: SLC Goes D1 If...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Grapevine beats Colleyville Heritage, AND,
2. DR beats Keller Fossil Ridge, or, loses by 6 points or less.

i guess he was wrong.

That was under the premise that the tiebreaker was positive points. It turned out that it was point differential, which changed the scenarios. DR Raider posted a thread with the revised scenarios this morning after learning that point differential was, in fact, the tiebreaker.

High School Scoreboard comes on at 12:00 on FOXSW so maybe they'll have more reliable info.

I went to the GV-CHHS game and was a good one. In the 2nd OT score 35-28 GV ----CHHS fumbled inside the 15 and GV recovered to win it.

Trinity is DIV 1 rep out of 6-5A, so that leave SGP and I Mac tied at 6-1.

So since I-Mac beat SGP head to head, would that not mean that SGP would play SLC in the first round?

Does this outcome send them to the playoffs --

seems that 6-5A does a points differential among the teams that were tied, since on a head to head comparison they all had one loss to one of the others. Similar to why grapevine didn't get in even though they beat Fossil Ridge.

KT2000
11-05-2005, 12:03 AM
Yes, the tie break went to points with three teams tied at the top. They didn't just take SGP and Imac, otherwise I Mac is the #1 seed based on head to head. I Mac came out the lowest of three on points so that's why they are 2 seed.

Congratulations, you went 9-1 and your only loss came by 7 points. The reward? A date with Southlake Carroll. Welcome to the playoffs.

Why isn't your original kicker, Ortega, kicking?

slcdragons

he has an injury. I think I was told its something in his lower back. A guy last night said he'll be ready for the playoffs though :)

Final District Standings 5-5A
Carroll 7-0
Fossil Ridge 5-2
Denton Ryan 5-2
Grapevine 5-2
Heritage 3-4
Haltom 2-5
Keller 1-6
Richland 0-7

Carroll is in no matter what

3-way tie for 2nd
Fossil Ridge beat Ryan by 3
Ryan beat Grapevine by 16 (but only gets +14 because there's a 14 pt max to prevent teams from intentionally running up scores)
Grapevine beat Fossil Ridge by 7

FR gets +3 for the win and -7 for the loss which = -4
Ryan gets +14 for the win and -3 for the loss which = +11
Grapevine gets +7 for the win and -14 for the loss which = -7

Thus Carroll is the 1st place team, Ryan is the 2nd place team with +11 and Fossil Ridge is 3rd with -4 and Grapevine is out with a -7

The largest of the 3 will go Division I, the other 2 Division II: Fossil Ridge = 2427.5 enrollment, Carroll = 2213 Enrollment, Ryan = 1981 enrollment.

Thus, Fossil Ridge is the Division I rep, Carroll is the higher seeded rep in Division II and Ryan is the lower seeded rep in Division II

I wanna see this .5 of a kid that Fossill Ridge is claiming to have. I have some questions about the validity of these numbers

So, once again, the state is denied seeing the "best" high school football teams play for a championship. SLC is #1 in state, but is Div 2, Spring Westfield is #2 in state, but is Div 1. There is something wrong with the fact that there is no chance that these two teams will face each other in the playoffs for the state "championship". UIL needs to get their head out of their *****, and fix this.

Ortega has had a lower back issue all season, and he has sat out the past 2 weeks to try and get it ready for the playoffs. He will deffinetly be playing next week.

As long as there is a 4000 student gap between the smallest and the largest 5A schools, I agree with dividing the 5a playoffs into div 1 and div 2.

If they ever bring in a 6a, then we can elminate this method.

eagleii
11-05-2005, 02:35 PM
I detest having two divisions and now we are going to have that in all the classifications from 6 man up to 5A

rancher52

One correction -- points are capped at 14 so that the most you can get is plus 14 or minus 14 for any one game.

Final District Standings 5-5A
Carroll 7-0
Fossil Ridge 5-2
Denton Ryan 5-2
Grapevine 5-2
Heritage 3-4
Haltom 2-5
Keller 1-6
Richland 0-7

Carroll is in no matter what

3-way tie for 2nd
Fossil Ridge beat Ryan by 3
Ryan beat Grapevine by 16
Grapevine beat Fossil Ridge by 7

FR gets +3 for the win and -7 for the loss which = -4
Ryan gets +16 for the win and -3 for the loss which = +13
Grapevine gets +7 for the win and -16 for the loss which = -9

Thus Carroll is the 1st place team, Ryan is the 2nd place team with +13 and Fossil Ridge is 3rd with -4

The largest of the 3 will go Division I, the other 2 Division II: Fossil Ridge - 2427.5 enrollment, Carroll - 2213 Enrollment, Ryan - 1981 enrollment.

Thus, Fossil Ridge is the Division I rep, Carroll is the higher seeded rep in Division II and Ryan is the lower seeded rep in Division II
