So... Although i already know the result of this poll, ill ask anyhow.
Who do you have winning, and why?
I personally think it is going to be pretty tight contested race. Humble generally starts off slow on defense, and since we have a lot of holes to fill back there we will be putting in some inexperienced players.
Its tough to say for certain, but im pretty sure that Humble is going to give Ridge all they can handle.

Although it is the first game, Ridge has alot of experience on both sides of the ball. I think Ridge takes this early game.

I pick Cy Ridge, but I think Humble will make it difficult for them. This is a game I would like to see.

Is this game week 0? is it in Humble or at the Berry Center? Klein plays both teams so it would be great to get to watch.

Should be good. Im hoping that offensive line struggles against our size on the defensive line...
saw a couple of practices and it appears the defensive line looks like this...
DE- Shannon Nettles 6'1 230 (legit 4.8 guy)
DT- Kenny Brown 6'2 295lbs
DT-Lamarc Strahan 6'4 300lbs ( huge increases in strength i hear..)
DE- Ronnie Hodges 6'2 220lbs (Sub 4.7)
Cy-Ridges line will have to double team Strahan as he is bigger then 90% of the line and will be able to throw them around like rag dolls...In fact, The offensive line is more on par in size with our DE's... Now, QB Pressure will only do so much against a kid that has a gear that most athletes dream of

Im picking Humble to surprise... We all know that the backfield at Cy-Ridge has talent... Im just not convinced that the passing game is solid and the defense at Cy-Ridge I think is a big weakness... Also the OL is a weakness and inexperienced...
I pick coaching over athletes... And defense over offense (as long as the defense team has some offense)... Time will tell if I just underestimated Russell Shepard and Hassan Lipscombs talent (and if that is the case its not because I dont think they have talent but because I think as a team they are weaker than last year)

Ridge's defense is suspect?!!!!!! That side of the ball has as much speed as the offense. If we are looking at talent vs. talent.......Ridge wins. Those guys have speed like no ones' bidnes!

Sure they have speed but lack size... Humble has the size... Size if used correctly can neutralize defensive speed... And as a whole Cy-Fair is known as an offensive district... Im not trying to take anything away from Ridge but I really feel that the front seven (other than the MLB) is Ridges weakness... If u get 3.4 yards up the gut every play its the same as getting 90 yards on 1 play it just takes longer... I mean sure u dont get the 64-63 finishes u get a lot in the Cy-Fair district... But 28-27 means the same to me
And once again Ridge is weak at offensive line... Shepard will make TDs based on pure talent, but it will be harder than ever against that DL of Humbles...
This, once again, is pure opinion and im not trying to take anything away from Ridge, but because Ridge runs the defense that Falls struggles against (speed: see 2006 state champ game vs. Cedar Hill) doesnt mean that Ridge has an incredible defense... They just match up better with Falls than they do Humble... I may be totally wrong... But to be honest I just wish I could go to the game

Ridge has speed....and Humble has speed. We are not worried about the talent that Ridge puts on the field...we are more concerned on who executes better.
Humble WILL NOT get out athleted...it rarely happens.

I was not trying to take anything away from Humble. I was merely replying to the comment that Ridge's defense was "suspect". They may not have the size of some teams, but they make up for it with speed and effort. I believe it was the best defense Falls faced last year. Their secondary is very solid and have the talent to play man or tighter zones. Linebackers are quick and strong and move to the holes quickly and with authority. The DL probably is not going bowl anyone over but their quickness can beat alot of blocks.

Thats all fine and dandy...but speed against speed neutralizes each other. The game will either be slowed down or kept at a high pace.

It should be a very good game. I expect a close score, and a low one.

I think this has the potential to be a close one but i'm going to go with Cy-Ridge. Ridge may not have the best home field crowd attending but they will be at "home" nuntheless. Cy-Ride's approach will be much like it has the last two years, spread the field and make containment of Shepard difficult. Shepard is most dangerous up the middle. Take that away by forcing the plays to the outside, or forcing Shepard to throw and Humble will have a better chance of negating Ridge's explosive offense. Humble must contain Shepard if they expect to win.

I disagree a little with u must contain Shepard to win... I think u have to slow him down enough to make them punt/turnover but I dont think u can fully contain him... Eisenhower couldnt fully contain Shepard but they were 2 yards from tying it... The key, I think, is the rebound from the expected of Shepard... If the offense responds well I dont think Shepard will be able to do that all 48mins of the game... This will be the toughest defense for Shepard to blow up the stat book though... Along with the inexperienced front line they face Humbles D... I think Shepard will break 3 or so 50+ yard runs but I think Humble will pull it out because of their defense

I don't know that much about the Humble of late and haven't seen them in person for over two years so i don't know much about what they bring other than quickness & size. Last year they had a close call with (Jersey Village)which really shouldn't have been close, and didn't favor too well with Spring. I was surprised they lost by 30+ in that one, yet hung tough with BWB, FB Hightower, and Eisenhower. Anyone that did that last year is likely to have a good base to start of with this year. Anything can happen and like they say, it's all about matchups but i do think this one will be an exciting game to watch. Probably one of the best games in "Zero" week in the Houston area besides the NS/Katy game,..and of course my Homer game pick.. Cy-Fair vs. The Woodlands. ;)

Our defense by nature is stronger against the run then anything else. It requires a devastating pass rush, and athleticism on the edges.
I feel that if we can contain Russel Shepard 2 times and make them turn the ball over...i see us beating them.
I watched our scrimmage, and our offense is a lot better then last season. personally, we should be throwing the ball for at least 150-200 yards a game with what i have been seeing in practice...that's a HUGE improvement.
We actually have a passing attack that would potentially put up a lot of points on its own. Darius tubbs (6'4 200lbs) is the real deal as far as possession WR's go. I think we are looking at a legit 55-45 pass-run split or a 55-45 run-pass.
