Any questions about the legitimacy of Longview have been answered tonight. 6 turnovers forced, scoring at will, and a perfect passing defense. Longview kept forcing turnovers in JT's territory giving them short field to work with.
Players of the game:
David Robinson- 4 catches for over 140 and 2TDs
Carlin Freeman- 4-5 for over 140 and 2 TDs
Vondrell McGee - over 100 yards and a TD
Lobo Defense- forced 3 fumbles and picked off 3 passes

I saw exactly what I wanted tonight.....total domination. Now we need to carry this into the playoffs and we will be a very hard out. No doubt this team has what it takes. And I really didn't doubt what we could do but doubted b/c of the lack of intensity the past few weeks. I think I speak for all of us when I say I feel much better going into the playoffs.

You guys should sit together at the game against the Pack in a few weeks. That way you can cry on each other's shoulders. (this post ought to get a response from a few LOBOS!)

your response was tame - I expected a few darts coming my way. That game will be a classic as usual. Good luck to the Lobos and the Pack.
As an SLC fan, I was hoping to play Trinity, especially after seeing that game last night; however, it's good to be back in D2 with old friends like the Eagles, Tigers, Lobos and LP.
I loved this stuff growing up and playing in Ohio, and I love it even more now in Texas. By the way, TX football rules. I know. I grew up in OH and played for a powerhouse.

Wow!! - 28-0 at the half and 42-0 with 1:38 left in the third quarter. I like the fact that everybody got to play - this can't help but benefit us in the playoffs and next season. Not only did the football team come to play, the fans were simply unbelievable!! Let the party begin baby!!!!! Good luck to Mesquite and JT in the playoffs. Also good luck to Marshall, Kilgore, Texas High and Hallsville - Tatum, Carthage, Gilmer, Palestine, Troup, Arp and the rest of E-Texas. :D

Hush my A**. Flower Mound is a very solid team. 6-4 and should of made the playoffs. They are 2 plays away from 8-2 losing both to Plano East and Allen in OT.
Plano had nothing to play for tonight but shoot for a 10-0 record. Rockwall got beat by Mesquite and missed the playoffs at 4-6. I would rather beat a solid team with a winning record on the road by 4 than beat a team with a losing record by 2 at home.
To answer your question. Yes Plano is Legit. Is Longview? :) Best time of the year!! :)

i was joking in that post...yours was funny though.
Well first off, congratulations Longview. I don't know what was up with ya'll the past couple of weeks, but unfortunately for JT, ya'll decided to come play. I have now officially jumped on your bandwagon, and since Lufkin no longer represents our district, I will be rooting for the Lobos throughout the playoffs (unless by some miracle we have a rematch). Frankly, I will be VERY disappointed and upset if ya'll let a lesser team, besides SLC and Lufkin, beat you the rest of the season.
As far as JT, I think we finally have some idea of what kind of team they are. I believe JT would be a MUCH better and legit team if Hunter and Williams were still playing, but Maddox cannot beat a very good defense on his own, and that's apparently what all our success hinges on when we play a team the calibar of Longview. There has only been 3 games this season (PA Memorial, Bowie, and Mesquite) where I KNEW we would win by halftime. For the other 7 games, I had a deep concern that we could easily lose. Unfortunately, that feeling will not subside for the remainder of JT's season, because any other victories will come as somewhat of a surprise.
If there's any silver lining to this week's game, it's that JT knows now what kind of a team they are (or aren't). If they had beaten Longview, they would've easily won the next two weeks, and then would've been slaughtered by Lufkin. Now, however, if they are able to maintain their focus and grow from this experience, instead of losing confidence, they will be a much better team for it. Any JT victory from here on out will be very hard fought and will be anything but certain (and will probably be considered upsets), but IF they do happen to meet up again with Lufkin or LV, there's no question they'd be a much better opponent then had they won tonight.
I'm not gonna predict when JT might lose, cause I don't believe a fan should voice negativity about their team like that publicly, but I will say JT should be considered an increasing underdog the further they advance in the playoffs (which I guess should probably go without saying).
Anyway, enough about JT, this is Longview's night, and they more then deserve the District Championship. Congrats again on your undefeated regular season and your justified (albeit low) national and state ranking. I look forward to being able to enjoy the Longview/Lufkin rematch in 3 weeks (if JT isn't playing), and since I sat on the victor's side in the 2002 Quarterfinals, I will probably sit with the Lobos so I can help ya'll break your streak. :p
Good luck next Saturday, and let's hope we'll all be driving back from Mesquite with 2 12-5A victories. :D
BTW, if I happen to hear another coyote howling tonight, I will literally go up to it and strangle it to death. That dang howling was cool at first, but quickly became one of the annoying things I have ever heard (I don't remember ever hearing it the last time I was there in 2001?) But I wish we had something like that for our games at the Rose. :p

All the Longview and Garland fans on this board should meet somewhere in Mesquite for lunch at noon to hang out and meet each other, then we can head to the stadiums (they are only about a mile apart). We can tell ya'll about South, and ya'll can tell us about JT.
Only stipulation is this - No one is allowed to mention the following things: 2002, 45-0, overrated undefeated district champs, shutout, or humiliation at the hands of wild dogs...

Thanks Cujo, you guys gave a great effort tonight. I think you will bounce back and do damage in the playoffs. I think the most refreshing thing was how well mannered both sides were. I thought there would a be a few tiffs on the field, but from listening to the broadcast, it sounded like both sides were just doing their jobs and not getting into fights. The D sounded amazing. It was only big plays that they gave up. Other than that, they just seemed to fly into the backfield in groups of 3. I've always thought that Cujo had the talent, they just didn't have the Coaching leadership.
Sorry for any ill-words that have been exchanged.
Good luck in the playoffs! I hope for a rematch!

I'm not trying to make any excuses, because JT was simply playing out of their league tonight, but if they hadn't have given up the big plays or carelessly turned the ball over, this would've been a MUCH closer game. However, the outcome would've remained the same because of LV's amazing defense.

Don't throw JT under the bus just yet. You guys faced a Team in my Lobos, who knew they were better and had to play better after the last two games they had played. You can bet Brooks will get this team ready for the Playoffs, I think you have some very big wins coming. Are you state contenders? Every team that makes the Playoffs are contenders. JT knows how to play Post season ball, you may be underdogs going into games, but no team you play will over look you guys. However, we Lobos have plenty of room for fellow East Texas fans.

Yeah but shutting Chris down cost them everything else on the field. Vondrell and Carlin got outside easier and the safeties were sucked in on the big play-action pass plays...He sets everything up..... :D
I wouln't worry Cujo, I think that if JT gets past a good Garland team, then you guys have the potential to make some noise...The one question i have is why didn't he use Maddox's legs more early on last night. He tried to force to many balls....and use the big #13, Lord he has a great jump, but no deep balls to him.....
Good luck to you guys, oh man oh man bring on SG, what a game that will be.........

I'm not throwing JT under any bus. I'm just saying they are evenly matched with Garland and the rest of the teams that are projected to win on their side of the bracket, meaning they will have to earn every victory. It really all depends on JT's offense, but if we don't make stupid mistakes like turning the ball over, then JT will have a good chance to win every game in the first 3 weeks. And as JT wins each game, the momentum will snowball, thus creating the exact same Cinderella scenerio that occured in 2000 (although the opponents will be MUCH tougher this year then they were in 2000).

Cujo!!!! Relax man, look at Longview's stat sheet this year. We're not the fisrt to be blown out and won't be the last victim of the Lobos this year. We face a very good team. They're loaded everywhere and they were probably faster than us at Every position besides quarterback ( and he was hobbled). There's not many other teams in the state that can make that claim. We'll make some noise in the playoffs. We just found out where we need to get. I hate we found out in the fashion we did but that's life. We should not have even seem Maddox after 28-0 . We'll make a showing the week. We will not be an easy out. I don't think there's anything we could have done to slow the Lobos Friday night. Too mich speed and too many weapons...all the makings of a state champ in my book. How can a back have a 4.4 40 time and once you see him you say he's faster? Well, that's McGee. We're okay. Trust me.

We love Vondrell but it is about the Lobos and not just Mcgee. Last night was a prime example of why you can't load up on the Lobos, and if Carlin can get over 100 yards and two touchdowns with five completions, what would he do if he was given 15 completions, if teams give us the pass we are willing and capable of taking it, once we show that, you can bet it will be Mcgee time, because teams will back off the line...
