What about them Rockets? Seguinmatador you are about to get your wish, you are probably wishing you had not run it before. Congradulations to a good Reagan team on their first winning season, do not keep your heads down long your chance will come.

I started talking more before the Madison game. It would've been easy to fold up shop for the year after Churchill, but I wanted to encourage the fanbase and say I still believed. I really did think Judson was going to get it done tonight and Seguin is in TROUBLE!

All I'll say was it was a weird game.....good...but weird.
I am not too disappointed with the loss. It seems as if it was TOO much to ask for. Turn the season around, get a winning season, beat some teams we've never beaten. One, most of this team returns next year, and it'll give next year's team something to shoot for.

Congrats on the winning record. I think the biggest thing is nerves in a big game and the fact Judson has done it before. They were at home, wanted a winning season, and got another chance for the playoffs.
I'm not surprised this happened because I saw Judson go 6-4 two years ago and ruin Roosevelt's undefeated season.

I think there was too much pressure on the team. And the tide turned on the kickoff return and that Wright fumble. But, to back my own words up. In the beginning of the season, I would've taken 6-4 hands down. Playoffs and 7-3, and beating Judson would've been icing on the cake.

That was 2 years ago. My opinion is regardless where you finish if you don't win State then its not a successful year. That's the Plano attitude. 6-4 or 0-10 that team isn't winning state.

Is this the kind of football you guys down near SA are used to? I was disappointed. I figured Judson would be more disciplined and I figured Reagan wouldn't have been that bad. I'm from Katy, ya know..19-5A.
This was my first SA area football game, (I attended because one of my buddies is a Reagan grad) and I was expecting to see more of a football game. Judson acted classless after every score or big play. I have never seen a team hoop and holler as much as they did when they scored. Did I have a false impression of Judson or did I just catch yall on a bad day? Another thing, whats with the all the penalties on Judson? All those personal fouls were ridiculous.
I wanted Reagan to win just to see what would happen to Judson. My guess is that they'd fall apart after going down by 21 or so. To me, theres no difference between them and a Houston inner city school. (Check - FB Willowridge, Booker T. Washington, Aldine Nimitz..the list goes on.)
Judson will be out in the 1st or 2nd round. Don't have enough size, a team faster/as fast will beat you..aaaand they just aren't a disciplined team.

It is called enthusiasm. Apparently, you aren't aware of Judson's past and the present. Yes, the Rockets had some penalties which were due to lack of self- discipline and to a couple of screwy calls by two zebras, but Reagan had their fair share of unsportsmanlike conduct calls also and shold have been flagged for more holding calls. This has been a trying year for the Rockets with basically a new staff and new offense and a tremendous amount of injuries to starters. The last two weeks are the healthiest the Rockets have been since the Copperas Cove game. It was not a pretty game, but exciting with big plays. Rockets are still in the playoffs and have two tough games to play, but are capable of getting to the semifinals--again for the 15th time in in 24 years.

I don't think they knew how to call block in the back.....but some of the personal fouls against Reagan might've been a little questionable....I looked and saw a Reagan guy on his back, and he got the foul....now, I will say there were calls both ways. When the center snapped it over greg's head, I was pretty sure Greg fell on top of it but I dunno.

The booing is because half of the penalties against Judson were BS and YOU KNOW IT. As far as the hopping around being "non-classy", when the most you have scored since week 4 is 21, you tend to get excited when you put points on the board. Plus, It is Judson tradition to get excited after big plays. Other teams may be subdued but JUDSON IS NOT.
Whoever said Judson won't make it because of size and speed doesn't know anything about Judson. Judson has never been big and the speed is there. I guess you didn't notice the couple of times DL #8 Travis Houston chased down the QB and pulled him down from behind.
After the Defense makes a stop, the fans yell "D" which sounds like "BOO", but its not. Yes, the fans were booing after the BS calls, and Upset when calls were not made on Reagan, but Judson was able to overcome the opstacles the UIL calls referees and they won by 25.

There were calls that may or may not have been actual calls on both sides. And believe me, some of the penalties agaisnt Reagan were probably more incited by Judson. But I'm not going to complain about the refs, you started to. I merely said there was a lot of booing. But the calls were about even,as bad as it may seem for both sides to say that, both sides seemed to have gotten it's share of fair and unfair calls.

ANOTHER THING:
Don't attack Judson because they are in the playoffs. Judson had the better team and played the better game. This was the first game all season that all 5 starting O-Linemen played, and the only game of the season where 21 of the 22 starters played. The 22nd guy got into some trouble so he was unable to make it 22. If you look back on the season, we were in the Copperas Cove game, we almost won. (2 missed PATS, 2 missed FG, lost 20-19). The SV game was tied 7-7 at the half, and in the 2nd half injuries to the O-Line prevented us from being productive. The game ended 21-7, and 7 of SVs points came off a blocked punt. The Churchill game had a lot of O-Line injuries, with only 3 O-Line starters in. That game was 6-0 for most of the time, we then lost 14-0. We were winning 14-10 against Madison at the half, but once again O-line injuries prevented us from being productive in the 2nd half.
Also, we played closer to the traditional Judson offense today than we have in games past. We fixed what we broke when we tried to fix what wasn't broken.

All that booing was due to the worst officiated game I have witnessed since Bowie in the semifinals in 2002. There were two extremely hyped teams playing with a lot of heart and enthusiasm, and most of the unsportsman-like conduct calls were BS. Over 200 yards of TAKEN penalties is excessive. Judson was given 2 UC flags close together in the first half but the call wasn't the same for Reagan on the exact same type of conduct after another play at the same time period. Defensive holding on a 3rd and 24 to make it an automatic first down was a little fishy. The field goal block is a strange one also. Judson is offsides, blocks the kick and returns it for an apparent TD, and is called for celebrating, so 1st and Goal Reagan! And if there is NO way the receiver caught the deep ball in the final Reagan drive. He was covered by 2 guys that knocked the ball out and to the sidelines before he ever came down from his jump, yet...1st and Goal Reagan.
I think the Judson players have been questioned all year about why they aren't like the past Rockets. Where is the Heart, where is the Enthusiasm, where is the Rocket Pride? Well they definately aren't as talented on offense as past teams, but they showed they still have heart. That was evident in the way they played and celebrated.
All of that stuff is nice to talk about, but the bottom line reason Judson is going to the playoffs is the number 5. That is how many turnovers the Rattlers had tonight and the reason Judson lives to play another week.

About the blocked field goal....the Judson player was there before the ball was!
The long pass, from what I saw, he caught it, had possession, and came down(killing the play right there with a completion), then he let go of it or the Judson guy stripped it.
jrdaniel
11-05-2005, 12:31 AM
But the ball was out before the guy even hit the ground! The way he jumped, he came down on his butt/back, had he been on his feet that would have been a catch and a fumble, but he was still in the air when Judson knocked it out. The defender even swatted it out to the sidelines after the play because he knew it was an incompletion. I'd love to see film of that play.
Yes the Judson player was offsides, but the rest of the play was what was strange. How do you get an celebrating penalty on a TD you never have and then get both penalties marked off? They went 5 yards for the offsides, then half the distance to the goal for the other one - which there was NEVER a flag or hat thrown for?

Well, the angle I was at for the pass, it wasn't the best angle, I could see quite a bit of it, but not all of it....and I am going to assume you weren't in a too good of an angle either....all we had to do is rely on a person standing there to determine if it were or not.
For the block field goal....the call was "unsportsmanlike conduct" so it might've been trash talking or some pushes or shoves after the play so maybe that was it.

"Don't call it a comeback.....[we've] been here for years"
The Rockets done knocked them out.
Honestly, I expected a good effort by the Rockets, and we indeed got one, but I also thought that maybe this was ultimately going to be RR's night, once I realized that Nov. 4 was the 25th anniversary of the namesake's election in 1980. The Rattlers are still learning and if Wetzel is as good as I suspect he is, he'll take what happened and build on this experience as well. I just hope it won't be at the expense of the Rockets anytime soon. Meanwhile, the present Rocket Mission continues

The Rattlers are still learning and if Wetzel is as good as I suspect he is, he'll take what happened and build on this experience as well. I just hope it won't be at the expense of the Rockets anytime soon. Meanwhile, the present Rocket Mission continues
Lol, is it really the anniversary of his election?! Wow.....he sure as heck wasn't with us.....I had a feeling that the game wasn't meant to be in Reagan's favor....there was a Judson field goal that just told me that....it bounced off one of the posts and went in.....

Your right you beat us. Pulled away in the 4th quarter. Two bad you guys got your butt handed to you the following year by Katy in the SEMI's because Plano would of handled up on their business and beat you just as bad. :) As the beat Katy the followng week in the State Championship.
Regardless. Your fans have no class. Always fun to be spit on by fans drivng through the Baylor Stadium Parking lot and hear Plano sucks ****and other unrepeatable phrases.
I am glad the Judson program moving into an average program status. :)
Is this actually a Plano fan running smack on a Judson/Reagan topic? Dude did we not slap the crap out of you enough in '93? I don't go running my mouth about Lewisville being a crappy team do I? Nope, they SPANKED us and they deserve my respect.
Oh and that loss to Katy, well you might want to get your hands on a little history before bringing that up. That was one damn fine Judson team.

I'm glad they figured it out now. It's good that the injury bug is over.
What are the chances that Judson will now be what we thought they could/would be this year?

I wish I had the stats in front of me and this computer won't let me get on the site, but I can tell you that November is very kind to Judson. I bet they have a .900 winning % or close to it in November since 1980. They don't lose many to close out the season and they make a deep plyoff run close to 70% of the time.

Pussycat, pussycat where were you??? the last 10 years? You get a season where you finish 10-0 in a trumped up district and you have the gall to come into our thread and berate us? I agree with some of your thoughts, but I fail to see why you would run smack on us. While we'll more than likely be playing a month from now your uni's will already be permeated in the wonderful aroma of mothballs. It was 12 years ago. Get over it! I guess the following year after we beat another storied program (Odessa) we just lucked into another one huh? You make no sense and you look stupid while doing so. All them 'roids must finally be catching up. And to the Katy fan.....sorry you didn't get to see what you expecting. I'm sure if the snakes would have won or at least covered the spread you would be talking a whole different story about how great the game was. You like the plane 'ole fan are making your programs look like you. Please don't ruin what has taken so many years to accomplish. There truly are a lot of good fans in all programs. Plano fan, when either Denton Ryon or Grand Prarie hand you your A$$ in the second round, do not cry. Katy fan? How many have ya'll won (State Championships)? If you look at Judson's record in the playoffs against Houston teams (Who play's better football?) you will see Judson has no problem with Houston. Although I will admit that Houston definetly has more talent, they do not nor ever have had as good coaching or discipline as the San Antonio elite. I know I have countless hours in film rooms breaking down Houston teams. Always coming out of film and meetings knowing that we were not as talented, but that we had a chance because we could out coach them and out discipline them.

Bubba,
Can you hand Judson their discipline back? They have made too many mistakes. I know this stuff can go in cycles, because Westfield played 4 flawless games on the heels of a season of mistakes.

Seguin is NOT a great team. They're the 3rd place team in a terrible district. Judson had to scrap to get in, but they were playing in a very hard district and beat 5 teams this year better than Seguin. They didn't lose to anybody as bad as Seguin and are building up steam as they get players back from injury.
Hey, my hat's off to Seguin if they win, but I highly doubt it. It's not a cakewalk and Judson will have to come ready to play, but they're going to take those boys down.

The whole lot from 25-5A has lost their mind. 26-5A is not down this year and the bottom teams are up. SV has a better power rating right now than they had going into the playoffs last year. Mdison is better, too. Judson is down a little, but that can be erased in the next 2 weeks.

Here are some worthless numbers. I took about ten minutes and figured out the overall winning percentage of each district in 5-A. I know it does not take in effect the strength of schedule, but here is the districts with the best winning percentages on the year. How does your district compare?
From Best to Worst
1. 3-63%.....17. 8-50%
2. 23-59%.....18. 10-50%
3. 32-58%.....19. 13-50%
4. 6-56%.....20. 19-50%
5. 12-56%.....21. 22-50%
6. 5-55%.....22. 31-49%
7. 14-54%.....23. 17-48%
8. 16-54%.....24. 21-48%
9. 26-54%.....25. 30-48%
10. 27-54%.....26. 24-47%
11. 1-53%.....27. 9-46%
12. 4-51%.....28. 29-46%
13. 11-51%.....29. 2-45%
14. 15-51%.....30. 28-45%
15. 20-51%.....31. 18-44%
16. 25-51%.....32. 7-41%
This is a way you can figure who has the toughest district.
It goes Ranking/District/Winning Percentage

Bringing back an old thread. Euless Trinity please dust your shelf like Westfield was doing and do not worry about the Rocket's after all, all they have is Pride. Rocket Pride is strong. Having been a coach at Judson gives me alittle insight as to what Rocket Pride is all about. It is about swarming defense, enthusiasm, and the home field advantage regardless of where they are playing. When you have a fan base like Judson, it gives you that edge you sometimes need to push you over the top. I watched that game and saw bigger, stronger, and faster athletes all over the field for Westfield, but they did not have that extra something you need when you are away from home. There were I believe a little over 4500 fans at the game and I would bet the 4000 of them were Judson fans. You can say it is the travel, but I will tell you that Judson had more fan's at last years game in Houston. Rocket Pride is alive and well. They will not be bigger, stronger, or faster than Trinity, but hey will have the Magic of judson on their side.:D
