Pretty sure Dada meant 3.49.

Crosstimbers at 45 is 3.37 if you pay cash.

More and more hybrids are hitting the market now. Plus the small econoboxes like the Yaris, Fit, Versa, Corolla and Civic. Their sales are skyrocketing. I the trend continues and spreads worldwide, you could be looking at 2.00 pretty soon.

For sale

Slightly used solar-powered scooter. Looks cool. Top speed - 19 mph - downhill. $14 OBO. Was a great idea 90 days ago when I paid $4,400 for it.

which station was that? I was just at that intersection about 45 minutes ago - must have been a mistake and they figured it out or something!! I did notice $3.37 down the street and even that was exciting...but I wasn't going to wait in line for it.

Why are some people second guessing dada or saying the station made a mistake? It's a gas war...

And yes, it's really chitty that stations can drop the prices low like that but don't do it... so, can someone tell me why we're paying 3.50+ a gallon? Besides the fact we have to... How can stations get away with these types of things??

I can still remember when it was barely over a buck (I know many of you have me beat on that ;) ).

In the early 60s the dealers in Odessa had a union of sorts so held gas at 21-23 cents. San Angelo at 130 miles was always having gas wars and it would sell for 15 to 18 cents. I actually remember 9 cent gas as a kid but I also remember 35 cents per hour wages.

Careful what you ask for.

I don't know what a sudden drop to 2.00 will do to the Texas economy.

Is this not just on a couple of blocks worth of gas stations? I really doubt that we'll see a $1.00+ drop across the state.

Gas wars are on. I remember my dad going to one particular station for 17 cents a gallon. The station at the corner of Beltway 8 and Spencer was at $3.23 today but I was not priviledged to have the resources to wait in line.

If anybody in Houston (or West Texas) is tied to the Petro Chem industry, they will remember 1998 or so.

I know that gas goes up and down, but there was a time in that era, where I recall seeing Regular Unleaded, for 69.9.

That was just ten years ago.

Now, I also recall my Father screaming Highway robbery, while on a trip to Big Bend in the 70's, he had to pay 52 cents for a gallon of gas!!

Who would have ever thought that we would think $2.49 was cheap? I had a corvair in High School and could put a gallon in it @ 32 cents a gallon, and go for a while!

I'm with you.

Let's see. All of that to "save" $20??

Do the math. In the personal financial picture, There is no saving. If there is a savings, you probably aren't financially responsible enough to afford a car.

Unless you are paid to sit in gas lines.

:)

I think it is all very symbolic of the media-driven hysteria. It seems as if large amounts of folks are all too easily influenced these days. The sheep mentality is what scares me more than any "crisis."

I read in one article someone quoted saying they don't even live in the area... So, tell me why you would waste the gas to go and "save" that extra buck and change? Some people are dumb
